I’ve just had my very first Ascended Armour chest from a rank up chest.

My first, despite playing since launch. After I guess 200 teq kills giving nothing, though now spoons take up a loot slot. I got my mini from a lovely guildie who got two in two weeks, and was probably sick of me complaining of no minis from teq. >.<

No precursors here either.

Apothecary stats.

Deleted within seconds.

They’re ludicrously rare. Would it really be so terrible to allow us to choose the stats?

I’m really starting to hate RNG everything loot.

Wouldn’t it have been better to equip the armor at least it would have been one less in the ascended armor collection to have to make

Instead of deleting it, you could have used it to advance the collectible achievement for ascended armor.
I only play heavy class and so i only had the 6 heavy ascended armor pieces unlocked.
I used the 12 armor chests i got to unlock the medium and light armor.

RNG loot is literally a form of gambling. The currency? Your time.

Once I realized this I vowed to never play for loot again. If I don’t feel pure, unadulterated enjoyment from the content itself, I won’t play it.

For the record, I haven’t logged on in a long time.

Edit: It might be even worse than gambling. At least with gambling the odds are constant. There’s evidence to suggest that the MORE TIME you put in, the LOWER your odds become.

I got a Leaf of Kudzu a few days ago from the Mysterious Forge.
I am farming materials now for it, it seems pretty daunting.
To be honest, I don’t use bows. And even if I got a precursor that wasn’t usable by my prof, I still would make it, and appreciate it.

TL:DR; RNG might be RNG, but why do you spit in it’s face when it finally DOES grant an ascended/pre/whatever you want(but not exactly what you want).

Can you wear/use it? Yes/no. Then be content.

I have never complained about getting anything, and then I got a precursor, and I was excited.

I like the suggestion some other people made. Give players an Ascended Token which you can turn int a vendor for an item with the stats of your like. Or make them like some fractal boxes, where you can choose your own stats. It is not like they drop on a regular base to say thats over powered to do so.

EDIT: Got like 6-7 of those ascended chests in my bank all with different stats.

You can always move to Singapore, the first/only country in the world to (sort of) recognize RNG in MMO’s for what it is.

Why wouldn’t you choose an armor piece and then vendor it. Not sure how much armor is worth, but ascended weapons are 1g a piece.

Aside from unlocking the collection I don’t have char that can usefully use. If a pre dropped, yes I’d probably make if it was one I liked, even if I didn’t use the wep.

I guess it’s meant to trigger the “nearly” reaction of scratch cards and such, and make me want to try more. For me, has the opposite effect.

These ideas I like, even if it was like the PVP reward track chests and gave you a choice of three stat options. At least it would give good chance of being something useful for all.

Or Tequatl gives 1-10 tokens per kill, and 500 gets you something from the teq vendor.

Why wouldn’t you choose an armor piece and then vendor it. Not sure how much armor is worth, but ascended weapons are 1g a piece.

I forget exactly, but it was around 2silver. Was definitely less than ascended rings.

I had to look this up. Best I could find is the bill relates to lockboxes, gachapons, etc…That would include Black Lion Chests, but not really rng rewards in general.

I for one would love if Anet took a long hard look at their reward structure, but I doubt they will. That is one of the major reasons I have gone to other games for rewards.

It’s a progressive reward structure. They’ve hired an economist who admires Paul Krugman.

What does this mean? Loot that increases decreasingly the more you play.

I’m not too sure about JS’s ties to progressiveness. I’ve be promoting progressive taxes on the tp, well since about launch, and that has not fared to well.

That’s interesting, I hadn’t thought about that. TP is definitely a flat tax. But think about the real world. Most sales tax is flat (although it varies from state to state,) while the income tax is progressive. That’s pretty much what we have in GW2.

Edit: I am, of course, explicitly talking about the USA. I don’t know much about how sales taxes work in other countries.

to get back on topic a bit..

I’m in a similar boat to the OP.

I have a crap account when it comes to RNG on Gw2.

The first and only ascended box drop i’ve gotten was from a veteran Risen brute.. and it was for Condition damage (dont remember the name, but its not the rampager’s version)

I picked sword and then tried to build a condition build to use it with

I now only keep the sword because i’m too lazy and cheap to buy an exotic with Zerker or Assassins Stats off the TP to replace it with..

Well, I have 3 ascended rings, and a staff (from WvW drops) with healing power on them, kittening junk… They all sit in my bank. Anet loves this! Congratulations YOU WIN….. absolutely nothing. RNG in your face!
