If every map is now megaserver...
Orr should be a place people go to. Not some barren zone that one guy thinks is awesome because it is more challenging without people.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Which is what I am saying. More people, more challenge. Return Orr to how it was with far MORE opposition, whether more Risen or a new form.
It is far too easy now, since you are rarely more than a stone’s throw away from someone else. The challenge should be reintroduced.
Yess!!! Gief Plinx back! Nao!
Orr was supposed to be the end game zone, not Queensdale with its endless champ train. That’s why it has no hearts and has the most events of any zone, (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cursed_Shore) as well as the temple events for people to get obsidian shards and what was then max armor.
ANet expected that people would spend a lot of time there. With the Megaservers the population is probably close to what was intended for that zone.

The irony for me is aesthetics, and nothing more, really.
I’d love 75-80 area(s) (or 80 only area?) that ‘look’ like Queensdale, Gendarran, Kessex (before the goth kid makeover), and half snow/pine areas like Lornar’s and Timberline.
I’m not super crazy about zombies and undead and dark and gloomy and fire and lava and vampires and goth and emo and all that. Why aren’t there more top end areas where we’re doing things to help villages and cities and farmers and towns and forts in nice, sunny, grassy areas with centaurs and bandits and ogres and tigers and lions and bears [link to George Takei meme]?

Now that you mention it, that would be nice. Is it too much to ask to be heroic somewhere somewhere cheerful?
Actually in prime time weekends, there were so many people in cursed shore that we had to attempt grenth four times before succeeding, because the shades were spawning so quickly that you walked in, got 25 stacks and instantly died. And yes, we had shade killing groups, we couldn’t keep up. Then there were too many people on the Warmaster Chan escort that the event scaled ridiculously and the troop morale went from full to every npc dead in one jester attack. Event scaling in orr needs work, and/or npcs need to not be made out of tissue paper.
Altaholic, can never have just one!
My guess is that high level areas are supposed to mean there are monsters that roam freely that heroes like us need to kill. People wouldn’t start a village in a place like this. Certainly wouldn’t start farming in an area like that. Those kinds of places would have outposts, keeps, fortified areas filled mostly with military types. This would be a place that the villagers in the 1-15 zones would never want to go.
To me at least it breaks immersion being in this quaint, peaceful area helping villagers kill monsters down the quiet, babbling creek that are max level difficult monsters.
What the hell are you people doing in a place with monsters like this! Why would you start your family here! Why are you having a festival?! No I don’t want to help you pick apples from the orchard down the way, there are champions down there!! Where have you been getting your apples then, I’ll go there because I know you aren’t killing champions you’re in a burlap vest.

This is a casual game where you stand around in major cities and cosplay with your friends or run around with zerglings in WvW. Meaning, this is not the place for challenging PvE.
Let people relax and have fun, okay?

And then the people looked at it, decided they don’t like that, and left. Why would you think they’d like it more now?

Perhaps (though Orr Slayer Daily suggest that Anet thinks it’s still not enough). If the zone had been made more difficult, however, the Orr population would drop again. Players didn’t like being cc’d and dogpiled by hordes of enemies every two steps. I see no reason to think that it had changed.
Honestly, could the “elite content” loving people stop insisting on making open world a dead place?
Remember, remember, 15th of November

This… Just this. This is such a great comment. “Can we just be a hero of a cheerful place?” This is gold. My life is complete. Thank you! XD
Actually they’ve done a little work in Cursed Shore to make it more challenging despite the throngs of players, out for Grenth & Arah. Escorting the PACT to re-establish Penitent spawns 2-3 Champs, altho there’s a Vet that will do you in faster than either of the Champs. It’s a shame the drops have been nerfed so badly. 1 t-6 mat out of 20 heavy moldy bag. ::sigh:: Spent 2 months in CS running Plinx, Penitent, Shelter’s Gate, etc. a year ago and gathered almost enough t-6 mats for a legendary. Now the drop rate is horrible and it’s more profitable being elsewhere. And, you’re right there are other places that are scarier – Brisban comes to mind <g>
This is not an horror RPG game,we want people that we can play with.GW2 is no offline RPG game and there is nothing scary about Orr anyway. We defeated numerous dragons and some1 gonna feel danger in every corner of ORR…right.
i guess people now gone back to CS champ train now that FG is nerfed ?
Archeage = Farmville with PK
