If there was a new gear tier....
Would it be easier to get than the Bioluminscent set? I didn’t go for that one for obvious reasons.
GW2 should never get new gear tiers.
Whatever might be nice to have in items could be done via ascended runes with special effects or something similar.
ArenaNet have already stated they have no interest in making new gear tiers.
Giving you a unique ability would still be vertical progress of a sort, as you’d still be strictly better off if you had the new tier. Unless you’re just talking silly aesthetic abilities or something.
i think the only type/class of armor now should be like what they did in Guild Wars with infused armor for certain monters classes but in the same breathe they shouldnt beable to one shot you, only make the encounter slighty easier as you have been given training into that type of monster class so know its weakness
Adding different stats and sigil/runes to ascended gear, which will be selectable out of combat would be horizontal progress, i guess.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
the only other option i would like to see for PvE is the PvP build structure so you can select the sigils and runes you have previously purchased for your characters and make builds that you can swap into out of combat but your armor stats for that version of armor you made will always be the same as what you made it when 1st crafted

A new gear tier I would like is the ability to merge gear to get sets with selectable stats.
Merge a chestpiece (example) with Zerker stats with one that has soldiers. You now can select between the two stats out of combat.
Merge that piece with a rabid chestpiece, now you can select between 3 sets of stats, and so on.
Maybe even be able to merge the sigils/runes on the items to have them selectable also.

i think with this type of system using part of the pvp build you will still have to use the upgrade extractors to remove infusions from your builds so that wont make those obsolete

Yes please! Mystic Forge recipe including Ascended weapon/armor along with ingredient x, y, and z = new item of same type with different stats.
hey… just came to me.. why not make a rune set that lets you change the stats. That would be extremely helpfull. Dunno… call it “shifting rune” and do the same for sigils.

It’s just not quite as obvious as in GW2 because they’re not colour-coded and most people skip straight to the last one using runners and taxis. But it’s the same idea – armour bought in higher level zones has better stats.

Not only should there never be new tiers of gear but ascended should be removed from the game or converted to a purely horizontal form of progression.

I’d wear ascended if I could buy it from the TP, but I have no interest in leveling the crafts I don’t have in order to make it. It’s really too bad that ascended isn’t tradeable. Most games allow crafters to sell their highest tier items.

Legandary should be the only “next tier” as it has identical stats to ascended (not even 5% more). The ability to swap between stat combinations would be the “unique ability”.

why not make a rune and sigil set like this too? Wouldnt be a stupid thing to have arround at all. Slap the runes on, choose the stats. Wanna change em? Remove a piece and put it on again and choose the stats again and all “shifting runes” on your armor take on the stats of the one you picked.
