If you could add one weapon to each class
Before adding new weapons to the game, I’d like to see more customization in the weapons we already have. We feel like we need more weapons mainly because when we equip a weapon we don’t have the choice in what it does.
I made a complete re-think of the weapon skills system here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Weapon-skills-builds-customization-balance
You can give me you opinion about it, and then when this is live in game I’ll be glad to welcome new weapons like whips, lightsabers and scythes !
I want pole arms and spears. Claws would be nice too.
I’d add the staff to the Ranger, but it would have both ranged and melee skills. The melee skills especially with spins and thrusts would fit well with the Ranger theme.
Warriors and Guardians
Halberd
Mesmers and Elementalists
Glaive
Thief
Compact Crossbow
Engineer
Shotgun
Necromancer
Scythe
Ranger
Whip
Who would get what weapon?
I would give:
Torches to Warriors
Axes to Guardians
Rifles to Rangers
Hammers to Engineers
Greatswords to Thieves (wielding in the style of Fire Emblem Swordmasters)
Greatswords to Necromancers
Torches to Elementalists (as both a MH and an Off-Hand)
Main-hand Pistols to Mesmers.
Main hand pistols to mesmers x100!!!!
Except the legendary weapon pistols…I definetly wouldn’t want those…
That has to be a joke.
Okay. I’ll play:
Guardian – Longbow
Warrior – Pistol Offhand
Engineer – Hammer
Ranger – Rifle
Thief – Axe
Necromancer – Mace
Elementalist – Sword
Mesmer – Dagger
Spears on land, ’nuff said XD Seriously, that would be so cool!
Wands for everyone. So everyone can cast magical fairies and we can live in pony land4evanevaneva~
Or what the dude said above. Spears on land would be cool.
All I’m saying is…QUARTERSTAFF.
Instead of being like a magical staff that is essentially a big scepter…why not have a quarterstaff with studs on each side and they can hold it in the middle…kind of like Darth Maul but more like this: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120402113857/merlin1/images/c/c8/Quarterstaff.jpg
You could give it to:
Thief: 2h melee weapon
Ranger: 2h melee weapon that’s more speedy…and not a gs. (Everyone already uses GS)
Mesmer: 2nd melee weapon (so its not just swords)
Necro: 2nd melee weapon (so its not just daggers)
Then of course you could give it to warriors because they’re the weapon masters, and give it to guardians so they have a speedy 2h weapon…and you could give it to eles so they simply have a melee weapon…
But then the only one who wouldn’t be able to use the QS (quarterstaff) is the engineer.
But you could argue into giving it to the engineer too (as a utility staff thing)…so thats why I just went with the Theif, Ranger, Mesmer, and Necromancer.
Warrior: Torches. And that’s enough. These guys have lots of weapons already.
Guardian: Shortbow. They could use a faster ranged weapon.
Ranger: Off-hand sword, and dual wield maces. I always had maces with Minsc, and dual wielded in Baldur’s Gate 2, and by extensions, all rangers should be able to dual wield their weapons, and have access to maces too.
Thief: Rifle. For 1200 unit range attacks. Thieves NEED to be able to snipe. One of the skill would have 1500 range, while the rest would make the rifle work more like an asault rifle.
Also torches, because they also have an acrobat theme, and so they should be able to use two torches, one main and one offhand, and do Juggling with the Dual Skill when using two torches.
Engineer: Hammer. Engineers encompass themes from the Medic, Engineer and Pyro from TF2. And so they NEED a hammer like the pyro can use. The skills would have mechanics, building and engineer themed names, like “Panel Beater” and “Demolish”.
Main Hand horn. One of the skill would be called “Up to Eleven” and would have a long recharge and little damage, but a massive konckback distance and cause dazing at point blank.
Main hand shield. With Discs of Tron and Captain America themed skills.
The first skill homes at enemies, the second is a cluster that splits and throws other discs on impact, and the third changes depending on you using a second shield or not. Using a second shield will make you use both shields as Clash cymbals in close range on the enemie’s head. When the offhand weapon isn’t a shield, it just tries to Absorb a projectile like the Mesmer skill.
Elementalist:
Pistols, dual. For skills more focused in burst direct damage and less in conditions. Because elementalist would be kick kitten magic weapon users.
Hammer (if quarterstaves are not added). For massive PBAoE skills. Just because.
Mesmers: Main hand pistols, if they are dualists, they’ll need that.
Offhand daggers and horns. To summon more types of phantasms.
Necromancer:
Greatsword, if scythes or great axes are never added.
Shield. With skills that block and turn part of the damage ‘absorbed’ by blocking into life force. Because no casters have shields.
I think the hammer for engineers is a great idea. There would finally be something to use with bombs which is essentially an exploding melee weapon. I hate using bombs right now because everything else I use is ranged

Bombs are also a pretty good kiting weapon. You run while planting bombs to hit your pursuers.
Brassknuckles-warriors or generic fighting gloves. No, not the rampage skill set with crappy rock throwing.
Long bow-engineers which actually are modified rocket launcher using rifle logic. Delayed casting weapon but huge aoe and fast projectile. Explosions. galore.
I’d just make dual pistol thieves fun and useful.
Warrior- Great Axe(2h) I think this would be a great choice to give them a full 360 degree AOE set of moves.
Guardian- Polearm(2h) A few AOE spells ,and thrusting melee attacks
Engineer- Hammer(1h) Being able to dual weild ,and having some quick attacks
Ranger- Whip(2h)(being a tammer of animals it kind of fits) The reason for 2h is so the whip can shine. Having one or two localized AOE ,and some bleeding effect skills. Not to mention the speed of the weapon.
Thief- Bo Staff(2h) The possible speed ,and combo ability of such a weapon for this class would be ideal.
Necromancer- Scythe(2h) umm..yeah nothing needs to be said
Elementalist- Gaunlet/Knuckle Duster(1h) Ok I know they are not a warrior ,but with elemental magic it would look cool. Not only that it would give them a more versitile melee/ranged attack sets. On a side note who doesn’t want to falcon punch the risen.
Mesmer- Chakram(1h) Dual weilding would be cool. Mostly a ranged skill set with maybe two melee. I think this would be a neat addtion to this class.
More weapon skills would be a plus, open it up.
All classes can wield any weapon in game.
This! I would love this.
Throw-able Axes for Warriors (perhaps change the F1 ability to switch between Melee and Ranged mode).
Do you even lift, bro?
Rifle for thieves.
Daggers for mesmers.
Pistols for warriors.
Cant comment on other classes as I havent played them.
Elementalist – Sword, and I mean to use primarily as a melee weapon. This ended up being the only entirely serious answer in this list.
Engineer – Rocket launcher. I’m semi-serious with this one.
Guardian – A whip…to fight vampires, obviously.
Mesmer – A squirt gun. It won’t do much damage, but it can annoy people.
Necromancer – Nickelback CDs. All of the attacks cause fear.
Ranger – Darts. They add bleeding and poison, obviously.
Thief – Trollface totem. It’s number 2 skill uses 6 initiative to hit people for 75% of their health,. and then it turns into a secondary skill that teleports you to Hoelbrak, very useful should anyone manage to hit you more than 3 times.
Warrior – Princess wand.
mesmer – shield
engineer – mace
necromancer – hammer
