If you could bring one skill from GW1...
It would not work in the current scheme, but by far… Mistrust!
Signet of Capture — because this whole facet of the game in GW1 is sadly missing in GW2.
I don’t think I could pick just one… too many synergies…
Like wreckless haste + price of failure….
I never left home without Dragon Slash, but since that doesn’t really work because there is not skillbar full of adrenal skills, I’d nominate Auspicious Parry
Protective Spirit. Not that shady weak version that appears in Tome of Courage, but the real one. You cannot take damage greater than 10% of your health in 1 hit.
Diversion. Not the GW2 shatter. Target foe’s next skill gains +59s recharge. Bye autoattack 111111
Blackout. This one could actually work in GW2. Your skills are disabled for 5 seconds, target foe’s skills are disabled for 6 seconds.
!!
Tarnished Coast
Dwarven battle stance
“I will avenge you!”
Heal Party!
Healing all party members from halfway across the map ftw. I can see why it hasn’t made it to GW2 though hehe
all!
Heal Party!

Healing tome 5 skill is a full heal kinda works as a heal party.
Pitty that skills are casted on random close player instead of party members….

Hey they fixed that!
One? The Ineptitude elite. A hex that interrupts, blinds and damages someone when they try to do a physical attack. Man, my squishy mesmer in GW1 could blow up warriors and assassins with that, clumsiness and a few others. I loved the Illusion line…
Echo!
/requisite 15 char
dshot! best utility ever
asuran skill pain inverter for certain

lmao did they?
Pre nerf heal party then!
this thread is making me nostalgic. they’ve already been mentioned but signet of capture and echo would be sweet. also hexes in general.
Panic! I posted a thread a while back asking…no begging….for this elite mesmer skill to be brought over from gw1. I used to love running Panic mesmer especially in DoA where u had massive amounts of mobs to deal with and seeing them all with the ! above their heads lol. it was the funnest skill ever!
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Panic
The other skills i really liked was Asuran Pain Inverter, simply bc all classes could use it, incl ur heroes, and Searing Flames for my ele. Meteor shower wasn’t bad in some situations as it knocked down all the foes as well as burnt them but the long casting of it had limited use.
Ah the good old days hehe.
so hard to choose just one, this thread makes me miss my hex water ele, my Mesmer, and my paragon, that being said
1.) echo
2.)mirror of ice
3.) “there’s nothing to fear”
Blackout.
Time to see who wins the staring contest
Luna Solares – Mesmer
Healing Burst (as it is now)
I would bring Vow of Strength if could be used in other weapons, if not I would bring Splinter Weapon.
Ranger Axe #2 would be awesome with it, barrage would too.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Distracting Shot
The number one skill of reflex in Guild Wars 1. Not only did you have to notice the enemy skill being used, but since D-Shot is a projectile, you had to use smart positioning, cancel cast, and close-range to ensure you nailed that 0.5s Guardian cast from the Prot monk.
Man, those were good times…
For me, the aforementioned Panic. (great call Tiger)
But one thing I miss not from Guild Wars but from COH is a taunt.
MY KINGDOM for a taunt skill to get stuff OFF my light armor team mates.
Echo!
/requisite 15 char
Fixed
For me, it wouldn’t be a specific skill, but a specific type of skill: Weapon Spells (Brutal Weapon, Great Dwarf Weapon, Splinter Weapon ect).

Providing your class has it: Knock back / Pull / Knock-down (give them chance to run)
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Spiteful Spirit!
Barrage, the true version
Comfort animal because we should be able to rez pets
Dshot…even though in this game it would just be considered an avarage cooldown lol
Powerblock. The rage mail I got from this elite was just hilarious.
Word of Healing
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
asuran skill pain inverter for certain
there is that skill but it is reatliation/confusion

Not on par
Confusion only triggers once per skill. Retaliation would have to be on everything you strike for a similar effect. Also the intensity of the skill was insane.
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
Sorry but I can’t resist!
The skill I want back: SMITER’S BOON!!!
High five for you if you understand the fun in this post! :P

Agreed.
Most of the skills I liked from GW1 are in GW2 in some form, just a lot of them are trait bonuses or sigils or whatever instead of skills. Either that or it’s combinations, like fiery bow string + Barrage + Mark of Rodgort = everyone on fire.
I agree that it seems wrong that rangers can’t rez their pets, but back in the betas when it was possible I would always switch them instead because it was faster. Using up a skill slot to rez them just wouldn’t make sense. (Although maybe they could give us the option – add a function to the pet bar that’s tied to swap so if you use one both go on cooldown for the same length of time but instead of swapping it instantly heals your current pet.)
I was going to say Epidemic, then I found out it is in but it’s a necro skill instead of Mesmer. (Which I suppose makes sense, mesmers can’t really do much with conditions and you don’t have the same requirement to make full parties interact here.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”

That made me laugh so hard.
Btw, totally forgot that Smiter’s Boon is already in GW2. But they made it “20/180” (Tome of Wrath) instead of “25/90”. Memories, memories…

Shadow Form (pre nerf)
Trololol
But seriously, the Avatar skills from the Dervish. I would love to have those back. They may not have been the best skills out there, but kitten they were cool.

You mean like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Avatar_of_Melandru?
There’s only one though.
Spiteful Spirit (Loved the distinction between condis and hexes)
Spellbreaker
Protective Spirit (I wish Aegis would have worked like this.
25/90 Never Forget!
I laughed so hard, that I spilled my drink…
Aura of the Lich – instant army and power up to your death magic and max minion capacity.
On a serious note now these were my favourite GW1 Skills
Elementalist: Savannah Heat
Mesmer: Panic
Necromancer: Aura of the Lich
Ritualist: Signet of Spirits
Monk: Protective Spirit
Ranger: Distracting Shot
Assassin: Shadow Form
Dervish: Avatar of Dwayna
Warrior: Primal Rage (it was really amazing for a time!)
Paragon: Defensive Anthem
Guild – Heróis Lusitanos [LS] Server – SFR
Shadow Form (pre nerf)
Trololol

Not really, that skill just turns you into an Oakheart (really disappointing). I mean these: Avatar of.. Balthazar Dwayna Grenth Lyssa Melandru
~Sincerely, Scissors
Elementalist: Sandstorm or Obsidian Flesh for me personally.
I never played healer Monk, but Unyielding Aura is awesome.
Also, Wounding Strike on Dervish. Dat spammable covered Deep Wound.
And how has no one mentioned the Jesus beam? Ray of Judgment was hilarious to use in ABs with all the MMs running around.
The nostalgia hurts
(edited by Glenstorm.4059)
Ah yes, ray of judgement was so amazing to use.
I think the only GW2 class that skill would really fit under though would be a Guardian. It was funny back then as multiple rays of judgement were quite blinding to the eye. Ah the good ol’ days. I would gladly welcome that as a Guardian elite skill.
Spirit of Wanderlust but as a phantasm elite for the mesmer.
Deaths Fear [Fear] / The Hardcore Caravan [HC]
Forum Warrior: Black Belt in Ninja Edits
Spiteful Spirit. Throw that onto a zerker Warrior/Thief and watch them explode.
Panic would be so, SO delicious thrown into a zerg.
