If you had 1000 gold
Since earning gold is such a pita, I would hoard it, like I do now.
i had 1800 gold at some point from selling a hair contract. i spend it all on making ascended armor, weapons and backpacks.
i have this and it just sits there
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
I’d get a ton of stuff to invest in my guild’s hall.
id attempt to learn the tp flipping thing, since id have gold to actually invest. if successful…i have a long, long list of desirable things…
Use it to make another 1000 gold.
I don’t get a lot of game time and I mostly play in WvW, often doing stuff that doesn’t pull in a decent rate of loot or gold. So, I’d finish crafting for the rest of my gear slots that need ascended. I’d likely contribute some to the guild and spend the rest as needed.
NSP
2050 gold, but I’m a hoarder.
I’d look at my wallet and say “Wow, I have a thousand gold!”.
Currently sitting at 30.
Then I’d probably buy stuff for the guild hall upgrades.
sooo..most of you would spend it on guild hall upgrades.
i dont know much about those but sounds like you guys are guild owners or something?
I check out gw2efficiency.com when wondering what items to sell off. When you can look at a bank tab and see it worth in the high 4 digits, it is pretty awesome.
I dont mean to be rude or condescending, but 1000 gold is a trivial amount, considering many dyes and skins already go for over that.
1000 gold is what…an ascended set and couple weapons and a cheap skin.
It’s like a starter pack lol
If your answer is anything other than “use it to make more money” then you now know why you are poor and other players are rich.

You should not let it silence you. Remember this is a game and the way people measure fun is different to each individual.
Another thing to keep in mind, even if you use your liquid wealth as you get it, your overall Networth still goes up.

To cheer you up here is some advice:
Due to halloween dropping large bones, and ancient bones like candy these items are now much cheaper than any other time in the year.
Spend 20% of your current gold to buy these items. Sell them in 4 months when their price doubles and you will have doubled your investment.
As long as you keep a portion of your gold in short term and long term investments you will always be making money just by playing the game, no grinding required.

You’re right. While I don’t play enough to have much cash flow, I have managed to max all crafting professions except huntsman and artificer, which I’m pretty happy about. That being said, I’d probably spend my 1000 gold working on crafting ascended gear, since why else would I max my crafting skills.

Almost sounds too good to be true. Too easy! Suspicious! Instead I shall bury my gold in the ground where it shall be safe!
On a more serious note I should probably do that anyways just to see if it proves true. I don’t have much so losing even 20% isn’t a huge loss in the grand scheme of things. If successful I’ll be more likely to invest more in the future and probably be a little better off.
I finally have it and now I’m sitting on it and feel like I shouldn’t spend it… I’m that horder type, that can never get oneself to actually spend stuff…
Not spend it as there is nothing I want to buy on the TP.
Just hit 2222 Gold today. I’m saving it for future Gem store stuff… I’m very picky, though… I don’t like lame wings and stuff like that. Still hoping for a TIGHT outfit and new hairstyles…
If I had 1000g I would wonder what happened to the other 1.5k I had. x)
On a more serious note, I’m a serious hoarder. I don’t buy anything unless I really, really have to. Only buy some gems every now and then to prepare for possible goodies.

I’d buy up all the improvised weapon skins while they’re super cheap. Then I’d buy up as many Halloween skins as I could.
EDIT: Also, Zudet is absolutely right about the behavior of bones, at least post-Halloween 2 years running, they have worked exactly as he/she states. Cheap during Halloween, then a few months out, back up to normal.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
I got up to 3500. Then expensive dyes dropped to unusually low levels and I spent 2500 on dyes and gems. Back up to about 1300 in liquid gold (and between one and two thousand in various items sitting around).
ANet may give it to you.

cripes…
..and here I felt proud of myself for slogging my way back to 650g.
sigh
1000 wouldn’t get me a permanent hair kit, so I dunno. Probably nickel and dime it away on things. Though right now I would very much like the bat shoulders. I have the bat wing, I can make the Gift of Darkness, I need the Batwing Brew, and I guess the Gyve however that is obtained? Then I shall have the paralysis of choice as I decide what weight to make, though light seems most likely.
I have never enjoyed financial numbers juggling, so playing the market is not for me. I suppose if there were ever a contest with the grand prize being Wanze guiding me closely for a month of investing, I’d enter early and often!

Diligent farming mats then refining to sell, key running (now nerfed, but still have skins to sell and tickets from that) and not buying much for months. (The not buying much for months is the main thing).

I would work on making a medium and heavy ascended armor set.
Awhile back I sold off some items that could have made me close to 15k gold if I sold today. I think I made about 100g off of them when I sold at that time.

I didn’t do much with key farming. I do typically try to farm all kinds of materials though. Seem to have a hard time parting with them oddly (until the slot gets full, then I check what I can sell a stack for). I think I end up using most of the worthwhile ones for ascended crafting. shrug
I do try to horde the gold I have though. That’s something I’m good at.
I’d use it to buy Zap and start working on bolt to go with eternity >.>. Almost done with building another GoF so I’m dirt poor again. yay 14g!
I would buy 1000 gold worth of candy corn and troll by randomly mailing people 1 candy corn at a time. 10/10.
Finish making my first legendary weapon (bolt) after 3 years. I actually only need about 500g to do that, mostly for t6 materials, icey rune stones, and lodestones.
If anyone wants to help out…ahem….
Depends what you want. Most things are cosmetic. I’ve recently spent a bunch of gold (a bunch for me) on dyes and a little on armor skins I haven’t stumbled on yet (buying and salvaging armor just to unlock the skin). Still haven’t bought my underboob shirt (Medium T3 human armor) as 100 g is still steep from me.
RIP City of Heroes
Complete artisan crafting (have full leather and 4/6 heavy and will have an ascended light chest piece after completing chapters 5-8 I already did 7 and 8’s achievements) and buy some dyes with what I have left over…or put it towards completing the champion bag loot achievement for the karma eater. You get such for completing artisan crafting so I’ll look up the most expensive weapon and get that.
It’d go into crafting my Precursor. I know I could invest it and get some nice flipping profits going, but flipping bores me almost as much as grinding the Silverwastes.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
