…then post why in this thread!

Hi, I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 for just over two weeks now. After having played most MMO’s, and spending a few years playing WoW, it’s refreshing to play a game that is so fresh and new, so “next-gen”, and truly fun from the minute you get into the game. I’m upset with myself for only picking up the game a few months after launch!

I believe after extensive playing (and tons of fun!) that this is the best MMO out there right now, if you do too, let’s share why we believe this to be true!

I love Guild Wars 2 and I vow not to quit even though Anet keeps nerfing things I want to do. WvW is the only reason I still play and I hope this patch makes it more rewarding.

Serious post no troll.

Hi, I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since the final beta and spent so much time on it that I had best not write it here. I still love the game! (Had to get this here before the doom crows come and say: “Just wait another two weeks. You’ll be bored to death.”)

Funny thing, but I think that one of the biggest reasons I don’t get bored is because I don’t make huge amounts of gold and thus cannot just buy anything I might fancy. Because my ‘mercenary guild’ of characters has currently 7 members, it is a challence to take care of them all. Especially now that the 6th one will hit 80 soon.

Unlike the poster before me, WvW is something I only do if it is required for monthly. I have far too much to do with just the regular areas and the still running four personal stories.

PvE wise Guildwars 2 has so much things you can do. The story is fresh, dungeons and fractals forcing teamwork. Forging and creating armor/weapons with collected goods are interesting and rewarding. The whole world looks great and has lot of love given to details. All the live-events that are popping up gives lot of variotion to it.

PvP wise it’s seperated into WvW and sPvP. Where WvW is really innovative and involves players to stand out as a server-community. Sadly sPvP is not that popular. The good thing here is that the combat-style gives a lot of potential, so this is a matter of time till it will be successfull.

I’ve been playing GW2 since mid-October, and I love it! I’d been playing GW1 for years, and pretty much knew I’d get GW2 eventually, but I resisted, because I just knew I would be playing only that for weeks and months to come! Which is exactly what happened. I just love the art design, the distinct different races with their defined personalities and look. The music is absolutely gorgeous as well (but that’s no surprise, I’ve been a fan of Jeremy Soule for years).
I enjoyed playing and chatting with my guildmates as well. I absolutely adore that there isn’t a subscription, I much prefer a game that isn’t putting pressure on me to play. The WvWvW was definitely a nice surprise, even though I still prefer PvE.

Hi, I am Ash Light and I also love Guild Wars 2! Seriously, from our introductions it sound as if we are about to start an addicts-support group.

More on topic though – I love Guild wars 2 because of…

The Community! I’ve made friends from all over the world. Every encounter in every dungeon is different, because of the class mechanics, the player skills and preferences.

The music in the Grove is simply the best through-out Tyria!

WvW – What could be more fun that running with your guild, stomping over one poor unfortunate enemy soldier, then bragging about how incredibly overpowered ninja-like you are right before getting wiped by a sea of red enemies.

sPvP – Being “that one —-- Necromancer” that facerolls through every encounter with the enemy and is unshakable when you have your point.

There are other things too – the awesome artwork, the NPC conversations! Free (monthly) updates. No fees. The list goes on…

I love the game
I cant find any major problems to complain about, the content is endless and very much fun to repeat.

I would like the story to be more serious and well written but then again i would also prefer a grim dark setting with little magic to speak off, but i can appreciate this masterpiece for what it is

I’ve been playing since the 2nd BWE and now, 6 months deep into the game I can tell you it just keeps getting better, deeper, more brilliant.

  • The artwork is a no brainer, it’s simply stunning.
  • The combat is genius, you can play on a superficial level or go deep into theorycrafting. Movement/casting in combat feels effortless, I can never play a turret casting shadowbolts again.
  • The community is hands down the best bunch of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with. It’s interesting how the game systems and mechanics are designed to support teamwork and a positive community – these folks really put some thought into this.
  • I am continually delighted, surprised, touched and horrified at the stories within the game. Learning about Malchor the Sculptor, his love for the goddess Dwayna and his subsequent blindness, madness and suicide – I still get chills when I’m in that zone and hear his cry, “DWAYNAAAA!”
  • They’ve done a great job with balancing no gear grind vs. endgame goals. I don’t feel like I have to work towards my endgame goals every session, yet there are lofty ambitions to satisfy.

Of course no game is perfect but I’m impressed with how much work and polish they continue to put in the game. Monthly content patches is impressive. No subscription fee is darn near unbelievable.

It’s a fun world to explore, I don’t have to pay a sub, I don’t have to commit more time than I have available.

Been playing since the first BWE, reserved my copy way back when preorders first opened. I played the original since about a month after release, so I’ve been around a while. The reasons I love GW2 are:

  • Jumping. Its so nice to be able to jump. It sounds like a little thing, but I cant go back to GW1 now, because theres no jumping there.
  • Exploration is so much easier now, I dont have to find a group of 7 other people )or bots), just to go look around an area.
  • The dailies are super fun- I like being able to pick what I want to do.
  • The big events (Behemoth, the Dragons, etc) are great. They feel really epic, especially with a lot of people, and they actually give good loot now! Sweet!
  • The special events (Lost Shores, Halloween, Wintersday). We had some of these in GW1, but they are even more awesome now than they were then.
  • Art. GW1 was a beautiful game, but GW2 blows it away. I’ve got way too many screenshots of just regular scenery cause it just looks awesome.
  • WvWvW. Even my non-gamer friends think it sounds awesome when I describe it. “Oh yea, you get groups together and lay seige to\defend your castle. Whoever controls most of the map for the longest time wins.” Seriously, some of the battles look like something out of an LOTR movie.
  • The community. I constantly see people helping each other out, explaining things patiently to new players, and just generally being awesome people. Its also super fun running to someones rescue when they’re in trouble.
  • Its fun. I don’t know that I will ever get tired of getting a few friends together and just running around killing things\completing events\exploring. It really feels like we never run out of things to do.
  • Multiple guilds. I have a main guild, and one that my (RL) friends and I maintain just for us. Its nice to be able to be in different guilds based on our play styles, but also still be in the same guild too.

So…. yea. I guess my only complaint is that I wish I had more time to play.

I used to hold 2 subs (one for myself and one for my significant other) to 3 different MMOs (Rift, Fallen Earth and Secret World) <—- most recent trio but not the first over the past 12+ years.

Sooooo…It’s not so much that I love GW2 but rather my bank account loves GW2. It allows me to get my MMO fix without spending a dime over the purchase price. Can’t complain about that!

Would GW2 be my first MMO of choice if money wasn’t a concern? No. But all things considered it certainly deserves my attention.

This sentence is false.

I just love everything about Guild Wars 2! The community is simply amazing (keep it up guys), the gameplay, dungeons, art, just everything is amazing! I played World of Warcraft over 6 years and ofc. it was hard for me to leave the game that i played so much. But Guild Wars 2 is just the game that i wanted and love to play. Some days ago i loged to my Warcraft account but i just can’t play it anymore. Sure, Guild Wars 2 is not perfect and missing some things, but i am sure, in the future those “things” will be added and much more. Good job ArenaNet!

I tried every MMO out and there’s nothing that come near Guild Wars 2, people who complain about the game obviously don’t play for the good reasons. People are used to the whole grinding/farming thing. I got my legendary mostly just by doing couple of dungeon runs a day, jumping puzzle, WvWvW, pretty much a little bit of everything, sure it would of been faster to speed run COF 1 but that’s boring, and since legendary don’t have more stats, I wasn’t in a hurry to get it.

Also, the way teamwork make such a huge difference, with my regular team, we can get anything done, we know each other build and even though we have “bad class” (engineer/ranger) we still manage to go trough everything.

And last but not least, the Grandiosity of GW2, kitten I can spend hours just walking around and exploring, finding new hidden places or just admiring the great work they did.

Please ANet don’t listen to all the whiner here, and keep your good work, don’t change anything to please those who doesn’t appreciate GW2 philosophy.

For me, the best thing about GW2 is the deterministic approach to equpment. I can work towards BIS gear via dungeon tokens, laurels, karma, or crafting. Not that this is always easy, but I prefer it to RNG based loot drops. Other real positives are the exploring, the music, the different races, the way the trading post is implemented, no open world PvP, and no subscription (although I would buy any expansions if they are released).

I don’t love GW2, we’re just friends. Honest.

(No, honey, don’t give me that look, I’ll buy you some gems next week on my paycheck, okay? Oh heck I’m gonna be sleeping on the couch tonight. At least I can park myself in Frostgorge later and hope she’s not too mad to withhold the rares.)
