If you report what you think is an exploit, but you get no confirmation from ANet either way, and they never fix it. How long before you can assume it isn’t an exploit, and discuss it as a valid strategy?

I’m going to go… never. I doubt Anet would accept time as a valid reason.

You could create a thread titled “is this an exploit?” and mention it. If it gets deleted and you get an infraction then it was an exploit lol but atleast it wasn’t a case of you using that potential exploit in game so you shouldn’t get banned.

Or even to keep contacting Anet about this until they finally respond to you from wanting you to shut up. This seems the most sensible option.

I don’t think I can risk anymore infractions since it is against policy to “promote” or ask about a possible exploit.

They won’t tell players if something is an exploit or not, they’ve said many, many times.

What I found could help a lot of players, but ANet won’t tell me if it’s intended or not. If I say anything, I could be banned, if I don’t say anything, then players may miss out.

Pretty lame situation if you ask me.

Everything is legal and not an exploit until ANet says it is.

Until ANet says “this is not allowed”, if it’s in the game and achievable using only in-game methods (e.g.: no third party programs and such), it’s legal.

Yeah everything is legal until ANet bans you for doing the exploit….

Just don’t do it. They even say so themselves, if it’s too good to be true, then it’s probably an exploit and should be reported.

Try that logic on the people who were banned for the chili poppers or the buying weapons for cheap karma.

That should be pretty simple. If you believed it was an exploit enough to report it, it would never be right assume it as a strategy. Once you understand what an exploit is, there should really be no confusion about whether it should be performed.

I reported something once that I questioned as a potential exploit. After multiple conversations with Anet about it, they basically would only find different ways of saying “We’re looking into it, we don’t have an answer, don’t do it.”
Still waiting for confirmation on it. I’m pretty sure it is not an exploit, but you have to be paranoid in this game, or wind up banned.

I’m afraid to move more than 5gold from my character to my bank or to withdraw that much just to buy an exotic on the TP. Anet is just ban-happy

Where are my gem sales? I want gem sales! Nerf EVERYTHING!

whatever you do that makes you earn money has as a consequence the ban (if you earn a huge amount) and a fast patch to make it impossible for others to do the same.
it happened with wintersday jewels recipe, with mini reef riders, and tons of other means.

even if this is possible because they didn’t think very better what they were doing they ban you, if they realize the mistake was not on purpose to exploit they may unban you but reset your inventory to tot hours before the ban. the lattest what happened to an ex guildie of mine that made lots of gold mystic forging the mini reef rider while it was rare.
