I leveled my first character by doing events, hearts, gathering (a year ago) and since then i leveled all the alts with crafting and dungeoning. Now i’m leveling my engi and i decided to level him “casual way” by doing hearts/events and exploring.

So what i’ve seen a lot now while i was doing events and hearts was a LOT of dead npcs. This is such an imersion breaker for me. I come to village and see 15 dead npcs lying on the floor. I join an event to escort two guys (charr and sylvari) and pack bull and what happens? Longhorn ram comes and kills both of the npcs! Ram kills sylvari and charr! WTF? Tamini kills seraph just by looking at them. Lionguard gets wiped by everyting that moves.
“Event npcs” are so god kitten useless that i have to cringe and facepalm everytime i see them fight.
Correct me if i’m wrong, but i think there is no npc in open world that could take out any mob 1v1 (not counting important npcs like brimstone).

Rams aren’t hostile unless they are attacked first. Having said that, if you let one kill off the NPC in your event, whose fault is it really?

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

It’s quite easy to take aggro from NPCs… I can understand a few guards dying but to have them all wipe while you’re there? That’s just bad awareness lol. As far as immersion breakers go:

1. Some of the buildings look like they were scaled poorly even for their own races. I feel like the cities and homes are just scenery – not because they ARE and you can’t walk into certain buildings, but because my character wouldn’t comfortably fit into some of them lol.

2. The fact that each zone is a square or rectangle with arbitrary walls (usually steep hills/mountains that keep you from going out of bounds. I WISH that GW2 was truly open-world but I think it has to do with the amount of events in each zone. I think DE’s would break if it was all open-world. Just opening the world map and zooming out makes me cringe because the zones are so awkwardly squared.

Those are probably the worst culprits for me.

Sometimes you need sacrifice immersion in order to promote gameplay.

For example, does it really make sense how a tiny Asura can easily defeat a large monster? Does it make any sense how a Norn can defeat a stationary Asura in PvP? No.

Looks like I’ve got a good idea for that dev who keeps trying to stick his invisible walls into Arah…

A remnant of times past.

…if they’re getting killed by a ram you’re not doing a real good job escorting are you? Maybe the kitten ram is the reason they needed an escort.

I don’t know what i have typed in OP that makes you all think i’m complaining about “not being able to do an event, becase npcs are useless”.

I don’t know how ram got aggro, i probably hit it with aoe when i was targeting other mob, but i just stood there to see how npcs will do against ram. For the lulz. And they got killed.
I’m talking about immersion here, not about “oh kitten events are impossible to do, because npcs are useless!”

And I said “i come to a village and see 15 dead npcs”, not “i came into village and let npcs die in front of my eyes.”
