Immobilize as a control effect
Should it count for cripple and chill too then?
I believe they did the right thing. Control effects prevent you from using skills, movement disabling prevents movement. That’s the line.
Immobilize is the strongest CC in the game.
It can’t be stun broke.
It can be covered with other conditions.
It’s duration stacks with other immobilizes
It stops movement skills and Dodges
It prevents skills which require facing from working.
It’s usually chained with AoE, preventing players from moving out of the AoE even if they break the immobilize
There exist immobilizes that last 8 seconds long.

No, cripple and chill only reduce movement speed.
immobilize also prevents dodging, which makes it a control skill even if it didn’t remove movement speed.
this exact subject was the talk of the town specially when profession balance was still part of the forums. maybe more than a year ago. nada happened. zilch.
in my opinion it does somewhat add a bit of variety specially to those classes with a lot of stability. however, the way it stacks and increases in duration where in sometimes it would already reach double digit numbers is…hm. anyway, since the heavens are blind and incapable of doing anything, i’d say just accept it and fight cheese with equal cheese.
Immobz is pretty powerful and should have more counters to them besides condi cleanses.
But I don’t think having stun-break or stability work on them like fear would really fit in with the idea of immobz.
I’d prefer to have all immobz work like roots. Where you can cleanse them off or you can use your auto-attack and remove the root. They already have this mechanic in the game and I feel it fits better when I think about immobz/roots.
But for sure, immobz are way to powerful to have only one mechanic to counter them, I wouldn’t really care what they did so long as they added something to counter it.
