I really like GW2. I actually alpha/beta tested FF14 in summer of 2010. However, I didn’t really play any mmorpgs after that. I was waiting for GW2 to come out.

1. GRAPHICS
I play at max graphics settings. When GW2 came out, I was so disappointed in the graphics. I think the art in GW2 and designs are probably the best I’ve ever seen. However, it seemed like the graphics technology wasn’t even on par with FF14 which I tested out 2 years prior to GW2. The difference is stark, and it frustrated me a lot when GW2 released that the graphics were nowhere near on par with the amazing level of artwork in this game. Not to mention nowhere near on par of other games that were out such as Skyrim and FF14.

FF14 didn’t have the best gameplay, but I really miss just being in those environments. As amazing and beautiful the art is in GW2, it’s just not the same in terms of the feel and texture of other games. GW2 just feels cheap and flimsy compared to others. A game with art as good as GW2 should be using much better level of graphics technology.

So please, at least for the upcoming expansion, consider what graphics are like in next gen 2014 games, and let us see GW2 completely reworked from the ground up, and outdo all these next gen games coming out using such amazing graphics like Unreal 4, Cryengine 4, etc.

2. GAME FLOW
I’ve had GW2 since release. I tested out a few different characters, and stopped playing after a month. Recently finally getting back into it about a year and a half later. I found out about this train thing that players have been doing in Queensdale.

It’s one thing to do something like the train if you are only interested in fast-leveling your character. Such as players who have already played through the entire storyline, and created a new character that they just want to grind to the top. However for normal gameplay, it’s something to stay away from.

Playing my human thief starts me off in Queensdale. After finishing HRTs for my level, some skill challenges, and some of my personal story, I get to a point where I’m still too low to continue to solo the next HRT, personal story, or do some skill challenge. I definitely don’t want to request some lvl80 to hold my hand through these even though there’s always many willing to help.

I try out some crafting, and it’s fine. But what I would really like is to party up with players of my same level, and do some random events, and even whatever HRT might be a level or 2 above me. What I don’t want is to party with players lvl80 or even players more than a few levels above me in order to complete these. If I could party with players close to my level, that would be great. But where are they?

They’re all on the train. Nobody seems to just play the game normally, going through HRTs, and enjoying the random events that come around. I didn’t even go to Kessex until I was like level 17 because I knew there was a good chance I’d have to solo whatever HRTs and random events I come across. Simply because of lack of similar level players to party with.

I’d just like it to be easier for players to party up, and do HRTs, REs, and skill challenges together. And leveling down high level players doesn’t seem to really level them down. They’re still really overpowered, and pretty much end up doing everything. Like I was trying fruitlessly to solo a Random Event. 2 high level players ran in, and completed it like it was nothing. I ended up getting the completion medal for that random event even though I didn’t actually do anything. It was just pretty much handed to me because 2 high level players completed it while I was just there. I got the xp/karma for it even though I didn’t really do anything. Just because 2 high level players swept in, and annihilated it. It was lame.

It would have been much better if I was in a party with similar level players, and us completing it together. But there’s usually not many players around in any of the regions that are on similar level to do these. Sometimes I’d party with 1 other player, and it still wouldn’t be enough to complete the RE.

HRTs are usually fine. I can usually solo them if I am same level or above. However REs tend to require help from others. I’m not sure what you can do to fix this. Maybe really leveling down higher lvl players so that they’re completely on par with whatever the level is for the circumstance.

3. SOME OTHER COMMENTS
I really like the WvW and PvP setup. WvW is an amazing game in its own right. Even aside from the entire actual mmorpg. It’s like a huge game on its own.

I really would have liked to see PvP be part of the open world. Like when GW1 was coming out, I found it really weird that a game called Guild Wars didn’t have PvP in the open world. I figured it would be all about open world PvP like Lineage 2 which I was playing at the time. Especially with your concept of leveling down players. Like if all players were on the same level according to their location/circumstance, then it would make for much more even ground for PvP in open world. You can be on missions where other players can just kill you. Or you could actually kill other players.

I know Diablo 3 had option for exchanging real money. I think they took it off. I never actually played that game. However, I was hoping GW2 would have something like that. It would be really great to be able to make actual money.

I really like the concept or regular releases, and evolving storylines. There’s so many great things about this game such as how the inventory works. The world is huge. There is so much to do and see. It’s such a great game overall. Mainly just please renovate/overhaul it for better graphics technology, and I would be soooo happy. I can just imagine how all your great art would come out if applied to much better graphics tech.

4. I guess I should just add to this thread instead of start a new one. I noticed this during the very short time I was able to play at the time of release. Now that I’m back starting over from scratch, I’m having a similar experience. That is leveling up way too fast.

It just seems like there should be double even quadruple the experience required to get to the next level. It’s not just flying through the game way too rapidly, and missing out on doing missions that you no longer have to do because you’re at a new level.

I craft and replace all my armor, weapons, jewelry every 5 levels. I noticed that it takes more time for me to price ingredients, and do some crafting than it does to go up a level or 2. While crafting can be pretty tedious and time consuming at times because I always have to do calculations offline, actual adventuring is the complete opposite. You don’t actually have to do much on whatever level you’re at before suddenly getting to the next level. Before you know it, you’re 5 levels up, and it’s time for another gear switch meaning time to go home for crafting all day.

I really don’t mind spending the time crafting. But it would be great if the ratio between the time it takes to craft and the time it takes to go up 5 levels would be much wider. Meaning players would be spending much more time with the current set of gear they just started using before it’s time to go back and craft the next set of gear.

Of course, people who are just trying to fast level or don’t pay attention to how they gear up their character might not really care about this. But for players who are actually trying to experience the thrill of the game in all aspects, leveling up so fast is really not the same experience as stopping and relishing the roses of great content that each level has to offer.

Not trying to be personally critical or anything like that……

But you do realize that most people here won’t even bother to read that huge wall of text you started out with, no matter what sorts of possibly valid points you might make.

Just sayin’…….

Funny, I was just reading a thread where the complaint was that leveling was sooooooooo slow.

I guess it is just a matter of perspective. /shrug
