Improve World Selection For New Players
Unless you plan on participating in world vs world, world selection is meaningless.
The server system lets anyone play with anyone else, with the exception of wvw.
get your friends to move to ET.. all of them…. should be cheap enough to transfer
Archeage = Farmville with PK
You don’t need to guest to a server to play with your friends; just be in the same party. (Even just being in the same guild is almost always enough for you to end up in the same instance of any given map.)
That said, the game doesn’t make this clear and it would be better for new players if it did so.
PS for the OP: the worlds that are currently full are due to their WvW populations and the new formula the game uses means they will remain full, until a lot of folks who play WvW leave (or stop playing WvW). The old system offers some success to those trying repeatedly to get in; the new system makes that all but impossible. In other words, don’t waste time trying and retrying. Pick another server and just get in the same party with your friends.

sadly it is near three years too late for ANET to do this right but not supporting the world communities and helping them shape their identity in game or display it to prospective recruits has always been a bane of WvW. At this point in the games history with all the changes made since launch and with mega-servers for PvE maps, new players should not even be selecting their world to battle for in the mists until at least unlocking access to those features in game or joining a guild.

One would think your friends would have explained to you how servers work. It’s a shame they didn’t tell you that to play with them, you need only add them to your friends list, and party up with them.
As for WvW, if they want to play with you, they can either transfer to a low-cost server, or delete their characters and transfer to any non-full server free of cost.
As for the CS Team, I’m sure you would not want to be singled out for special treatment; Full servers are just that. They don’t have the tools or authorization to ‘squeeze’ you in. What they can do, and do, is encourage you to create a thread suggesting a way to treat everyone, new and veteran, fairly in placing them on servers.
Just a tip: the Wiki (link above) has much helpful information. =)
Welcome to Tyria, and happy adventuring.
I guess I don’t have a choice do I. I have to miss out on a major part of the game that I was looking forward to. Well thanks for the help anyway.
what was the time you tried?
Consider trying at off-peak time.
For US, that would be late night or early morning. Server status usually changes to Very High at those time
Incoming Quaggans [iQ]
Server status is now locked. Full servers don’t drop down to Very High unless the WvW activity on the server drops over a long period of time.
You don’t need servers to play with your friends in PvE and sPvP.

You don’t miss out on anything. No matter what server you pick, you can still play wvw. If your friends aren’t willing to leave their full server to join you on another server, that doesn’t mean you won’t have people to wvw with. Make new friends on your server. Get in touch with guilds on the server you choose.
What they really should do is include a notification to make new players aware that your server only matters for World vs. World – you can play with anyone on any server in your region regardless of what server you’re on.
And to explain that server population works different to other MMOs and is not based on the number of people currently online or even the number of people who have picked that as their homeworld and that as a result logging out and back in again or waiting until off-peak times or other tricks to catch a server when the population drops will not work and are a waste of time.
(Ideally they would change the system completely so you don’t even choose a server until you’re entering WvW and then have the information available to make an informed choice, but I suspect that’s a lot of work.)
