Right now in order to donate anything to our guild for guildhall upgrades they have to either travel to LA or the guild hall. This travel is need for them to even see what can be donated to the guild. Granted this does not take a lot of time but it is an interruption to their game time. So, to me as an officer it feels as if we are not just asking our members to miss out on the monetary gain of the materials, but also asking them to interrupt their play in order to see if we even need a certain material. We have tried to lessen this burden by posting what we need in the MOTD however this is clunky and is likely to turn into a mess as our upgrade options broaden out.

I have two Ideas to address this issue.

1. Simply move the donations page into the guild menu so members can open it up check if they have anything to donate and donate it from anywhere in the game.

2. Add a donate to guild button to the R-click menu for items that can be donated to the guild and a donate all to guild button in the inventory menu that would function like the deposited all materials button that is all ready there.

Another issue that we have encountered is that not everyone knows the raw ingredients that go into the crafted donation items (such as flax to linseed oil to empty kegs). This has led to a handful of people in the guild being responsible for creating all the crafted items. For example I have ended up crafting most of the stuff that comes from flax, we have asked members to mail me any flax seeds they get, but I have largely had to gather/buy all the flax seed needed for the crafted items.

It would be great if theses raw materials could be donated in a manner similar to the crafted items except that certain members could withdraw theses items to craft. Or better yet add a crafting window to the donations pain that draws from both the player’s bank and inventory as well as the donations page. This crafting window would would be limited to crafting only item that could be donated and would immediately donate any items crafted through it.

I’ve found 2 posts about this topic with no replies. This is a huge QoL issue. Has anything improved?

My friend and I just got our guild hall and immediately ran into these issues.

I wouldn’t say these are huge QoL issues. A trip to the treasury takes a loading screen since u are put next to the treasury NPC on arrival. I do like your donate from inventory idea though.

I have thought about a withdrawal UI for guild items before and it always runs into the same issue and that is abuse of the treasury. Anything that can be removed either directly or via a crafting panel, will ultimately result in some cases of players not using them for the guild, but for themselves.

I think donating straight from inventory will cause some frustrations – normally when you initiate actions in your inventory, it’s for your direct benefit – you use/equip something, deposit it on your bank, or are selling it on the TP (which has further prompts to confirm this).

Donating to a guild treasuring is a one and done operation, you can’t revert that, you can’t remove items – this is part of why you’re able to donate account bound items, because nobody can remove from the guild treasury, it can only be spent on guild upgrades.

While I agree that it would be good to promote donating to guild upgrades (it’d be nice to make some way to reward this, but it’s basically too late at this point) you don’t want to do so at the risk of frustrating your members. The only way to ‘protect’ oneself from this if someone was stocking up on something the guild needed, for their own purposes, would be to rep another guild or not rep a guild at all, which loses out on any guild specific benefits (wp discount etc.) as well as is just unfortunate in general.

I’m totally in support of having an option in the guild menu to at least see what’s needed by the treasury (even if you can’t donate from there, though that would be nice) – and indicating the items in your inventory that match that (essentially, what you get when you talk to the treasurer in GH). What would also be nice (though would probably be too computationally taxing to warrant implementing, thinking from a server load / refreshing cache standpoint) would be to indicate within your inventory directly if an item is needed by the guild.

2+ trips to the loading screen? We don’t have mobile crafting stations, so after we go see what/how many of an item we need we have to return to a crafting station, and then back again to donate. Assuming you don’t forget while we’re crafting.

I think if we could just see the treasury tab from the guild panel I’d be happy. I wouldn’t mind going to the hall to donate. But, we should definitely be able to see what’s in the treasury. They already show us storage, not sure why the same isn’t true for treasury.

I agree, we shouldn’t be able to remove items once donated (and with what Cyn said).

Guild management needs some huge QoL improvement, the notary is just one of them.

@Toph

Not a lot has really improved, when it comes to the donation process since the OP started this thread 10 months ago.

The notary still needs a function to filter for upgrades (e.g. so you can see which materials are needed e.g for “Workshop T2” without going to the work shop building / proprietor itself).
The donation process also needs a priority list, so you could flag materials with low priority or alternatively with high priority (e.g by giving the items needed a golden border).

The new “twitter monuments” are a work around for guild messages, but that should be improved as well (we need a mass-mailing system, even if it goes on cool down for 6h to avoid spam; Message of the day needs to be separated from a permanent message board etc. )

Other QoL features would be to be able to switch your guild boosts anywhere you want and not just at the Tavern (we all know how often we forget to swap WvW or PvP boosts in a week).

The roster needs a way to sort guildies by server (important for PvX & WvW guilds), Admin Lower Ranks should have been split from the “recruit action”, so guild recruiters don’t have to be put at the bottom of the rank hierarchy.

And that is not even touching guild activities and guild hall expansion via upgrades & crafting…
