Improvements Galore and the condi cap
I thought today’s features were really good. People have long commented on the problems with Instance owners leaving. And, I find the new crafting feature very helpful.
Who doesn’t want improved performance? Well, I suppose some have great performance now…lol. But, I will look forward to possible improved performance on my machine! =)

rly?
my only thought was why the hell this even need a blogpost? months ago this would just be patched in a normal livingstory patch and now?
they hold back this lil features forever to make the presentation like a patch
they made a break from livingsotry just to can present this blogposts – feels pathetic
Yes, exactly as they announced they would do.
I agree that today’s announcement does reflect substantial change. Both instance ownership and performance issues have been repeatedly cited as problems by many posters and I’m happy to see them addressed. I’m not excited about crafting changes, as I don’t care for crafting, but as Jim Steinman said, “Two out of three ain’t bad.”
I’ve gotta say, I’m quite pleased with the things listed today. For once, these are things we’ve actually griped about a lot, being addressed.
Especially the whole concept of a dungeon instance owner. THANK YOU for that change.
And the crafting UI? That’s awesome. I’ve often been annoyed by having to break out of the thing I’m trying to make, just to go make the sub-components. Ideally it might even make those FOR you, if you know them, but… I’m quite happy with this change.
I have to agree with Romek, somebody wasted time and money paying for a blog post to be written up about overdue fixes presenting them like some long-awaited content updates. Honestly if I saw all of the things in today’s blog post in patch notes it would make perfect sense.
- Fixed issue where instance owner leaving dungeon kicks party
- Added ability to view subcomponent recipes in crafting UI without closing current recipe
- Lots of performance tweaks
Not to say I’m not happy that they’re fixing these things. Again, these changes have been needed for a long time.
I know we’ve been asking them to communicate more, and they are with these posts, all I’m saying is, hopefully tomorrow’s blog post will include actual features, and not just a bunch of things that don’t need a big announcement and probably should have been patched ages ago.

If they didn’t say anything? Lack of communication. If they say something? Anet, why did you even bother to post this?
Kittened if they do, kittened if they don’t.
From what I get from the post, crafting navigation is going to be improved.
I found it tedious to manually search all the components needed for something, glad I’ll be able to just hop to it from the window I’m already in.
Dungeons won’t close when the creator leaves (lol dungeon sellers), and general client optimization which should improve FPS all around.
Which is something GW2 has desperately needed for a long time now.
I have a pretty powerful PC. I just built my brother an even better one than mine. We both end up running the game at about the same FPS under stress.
It’s not on my end or his. We can run most other games at max settings or near max with great performance and FPS. Not GW2.
I have to pick between pretty or FPS, and even then if I choose FPS, the gain is negligible and altogether moot in high stress moments (WvW, world boss zergs).
If this fix is such an optimization fix for the game, I’ll be ecstatic. One of the best updates yet. I love GW2, but if this game has a ‘weak’ point, it would be optimization.
I don’t even know that they even make hint at condition caps and such from the blog post, so I wouldn’t expect that. If it’s included, that’ll be a wonderful surprise.
But don’t get your hopes up on that bit.

pretty much everything announced for the next “feature” pack has been this way. It’s more like a “minor tweaks & tournaments” pack. Unless they pull out something amazing (which they’ve never done) it’s more like a bug patch.
When will people finally grasp it, that Feature Packs are not Content Packs.
Many peole are really have a serious missunderstanding about the word “Feature”.
A Feature Pack is nothing else, than just polishing the game and its content, that is ALREADY THERE.
A Content Pack (Mostly seen by really many people as Expansions) is there to add new Content to the Game (which people see as Features).
So Feature packs are only there to modify the game, customize and improve all the kind of things, that are already there to the point, that even existing systems get either removed, to completely redesigned, if needed.
They are also there for Game Balancing, which is why we will see this time again a large part of the FP being based all around Class Balance of Skills and Traits ect.
Everything what the FP added last time, was no new Content
It was everything changes, that were based on something, that already existed in the game and which Anet just modified and changed into a kind of new working system (Wardrobe) to work in its new shape and form better, than before for either more convenience, more comfort, easier understanding, more fun ect. pp.
Mega Servers, are no new content, its just a modified new system that still uses, what was already there,. Anet added nothing new to the Servers, that could be labeled as new content.
Account Bound Dyes, thats no new content, its just a changed modified system, that was already there. The list goes on.
Get first your understanding of the meaning of “Feature” right, before you are talking about Features, because when you talk about new Features, then you talk clearly about new game content and not about improving existing game mechanics and systems, that are features of a game.

Thanks for clearing that up. so to bullet point for you.
So for regular MMO’s
Feature Pack = HotFix
Content Pack = Expansion.
Yeah, that makes sense now. Kinda like Galore implies more than one.
TIL that “Improvements Galore” really means just 2-3 changes….
The amount of hype anet is trying to generate is embarassingly sad….
This game needs an actual CONTENT pack… not a feature pack… these are all minor QoL improvements that could have been implemented slowly during bi-weekly updates… instead they make the community wait 6+ months and then throw the full hype cycle on feature packs loool… great work, seriously… some new commander color tags and 1 new trap/mastery line for WvW and now over exaggerated “IMPROVEMENTS GALORE” …. /facepalm..
Changes to dungeon voting? How about I actually have a freaking reason to even bother running a dungeon? how bout improving that part of the dungeons instead? too much work I suppose…
How do you even interpret this blog post as hype? Seriously? This is hype?
“Hey how are you doing? I’m Isaiah Cartwright and here are a few things that you can expect to see in the feature pack.”
Act like they made an action trailer about how this is going to be rolled out. Then in other posts some of you turn around and say “not enough communication!”
Lack communication?
Hype?
Wasn’t worth the post?
Lol…

I got nothing against the post other than the fact they shouldn’t have said GALORE when they just list of 3 vague changes….don’t half kitten the articles…

Man that’s some kind of persnickety right there, but alright. You’re free to feel that way.

Features? Those were just fixes/QoL changes for existing features.

Maybe they’re trying to get away from overusing the word “exciting” but made a poor choice with “galore” as a replacement?
Not that these changes are exciting either — besides the performance enhancement (of which we known nothing), the instance owner fix has serious issues (with griefers) and both the instance owner and crafting issues should have been resolved a LONG time ago.

Yes. A “Feature Update” would imply fixing/expanding/improving existing features.
A ‘Content Update’ would imply adding new content to the game.
As for the use of “galore”: galore is a word that can be used in both quantitative and qualitative contexts.
*"Our guild has active members galore!"
*"Our Guild Leader has charisma galore!"

You’ve got to be kidding. Making an event out of a handful of minor changes is not hype? They have banners a whole section to the site, announced several times over many weeks, metered it out over 3 weeks & every time it’s brought up they talk about it like it’s massive sweeping changes.. Yes, this is embarrassing.
If they had a post with no preamble & advertizing showing everything from the past week & a half it would have been a normal “hey we’re keeping up on features” but the whole “feature pack” “changes galore” giant banners “Big Changes are Coming”. Sorry, don’t see any evidence of them treating this like what it is: minor QoL improvements. Most of these are ninja patch things.

Umm.. both of those uses are quantitative. That’s cuz the word only has that usage.

adjective
adjective: galore
in abundance.
“there were prizes galore for everything”_
So no, 3 is not “in abundance”
At any rate, you people who keep trying to defend this stuff are ignoring the aggregate. People are sick of Anet making something huge out of something tiny. These “feature packs” are nothing more than a way to hide the breaks in the LS. All this stuff could have been released while the LS was happening, but they wait & pack it together to fool people into thinking they are getting the same amount of stuff.
They still have a week or so to show something amazing, but I gave up on hoping a year ago.

Oh noooooo, argumentum ex silentio. Truly you are a man of many words and I of few and many sorrows. Drat. How could I ever hope to overcome your brilliant logic?
Woe is me. Woe!
Yes. A “Feature Update” would imply fixing/expanding/improving existing features.
Oh so you think that feature update means updating features? That’s interessting, in that case you are right. But how would we ever get new features?
And why does A.Net consider adding items as a part of the feature patch when they’ve added many items with the last LS updates.
