I have some suggestions for current legendaries since development of new legendaries have been postponed.
1. Dye channels on all legendary weapons.
2. Dye channels on particle, aura and skill effects.
3. Add in more unique skill effects.
4. Sound effect options on the appropriate legendaries.
I feel that doing these would greatly improve legendaries overall, and allow players to have more individual and unique looks. Also, I think it would be a good compromise option for both players and developers considering new legendaries are off the table.

Sounds interesting. I have in no way any idea how hard it would be to implement, and with season 3 coming soon it might not be the most prioritized, but would be awesome if they did something like this when the time is there – given it is not too hard to do of cause.
It would be nice to have, currently legendaries feel a bit to common and usual since everyone has the same legendaries.
People will be mad that they can’t dye their basic weapons, but as the owner of the Nevermore I wouldn’t mind. More options is always good but I know it’ll be a lot of work as every legendary is unique and will need different work done on them. Plus any new Legendaries will have to have this option implemented which may be bad since people might never realize what the classic skin was. So I don’t think it’ll ever come to be unfortunately.
It doesn’t seem like a good use of resources to me. We don’t have any system in place for dying weapons or particle effects, so unless they add that to weapons in general (possible expansion feature?) it doesn’t seem worthwhile to develop it for legendaries.
Whenever someone wants to spiff up legendary weapons with better stats, sigil swapping, look options, etc., my response is always “Why should they?” That’s a serious question. Obviously, it would make legendary owners happy, but that’s a relatively small percentage of the player base. Making legendary weapons more attractive would also make them more in-demand, and I don’t want them to be more expensive than they already are.
How would dying things like the GS’s and Astralaria work?
Dye channels on weapons aren’t going to happen unless ANet overhauls the art/animation backbone, which I can’t imagine them doing sooner than GW3 (if then). They made a code-architecture decision in the early days to leave dye channels off of weapons — this is among the things that allows them to release BL weapon sets with every major patch, because it simplifies what needs to be done for each skin.
To add dye channels to legendary weapons would mean retrofitting all weapons, whether or not the players were allowed to dye other rarities.

As for adding sounds and new visual effects: sure, who wouldn’t want that?
However, given the amount of effort that would take, I’d far prefer that the art team work on adding new skins to the game rather than reworking old ones (even though I’m not a big fan of unicorns).
I vote to be able to change sigils the same way like it is with the base stats of the weapon.
According to GW2E, there’s roughly 2.5 thousand weapon skins available in the game. Assuming there’s a SINGLE dye channel for the entire weapon (like if you’re simply adding a hue/shade to it), that’s 2500*500 variations. That’s 1,250,000 different versions Anet needs to make sure work. Full dye channels? 5,000,000 variations. Just for the current dyes available.
Howler needs some work while you’re at it.
I would say it has to be the worst terrestrial legendary weapon in the game.
I see Sunrise/Twilight owners running around leaving behind 30 metre long trail of puddles with a galaxy texture floating in it. While my Howler leaves behind a 3 metre puffs of steam and a pixelated/blocky mist trail/aura.
I would like to see:
- Double size and duration of the wolf howl animation (keep sound the same)
- Increase the number footsteps that trail on Howler to match those of Sunrise/Twilight/Kudzu/etc
- Make mist aura “smoother” or replace it with something else (or delete it)
- Make the steam footprint texture better (or use a new texture and no steam – maybe something like a shiny mirror/metal/silver wolf footprints? or use the sploshy/water texture/animation that you get when you first draw your weapon)
tl;dr – i regret making howler now
I JUST WANT PREVIEW TO SHOW EFFECTS ON ARMOR WHEN USING JUGGERNAUT!
Armor looks awsome, happy with look, pull out juggernaut, all metal and ugly, colours messed up.
Try again.
20 charges later, give up.
