First of, let me tell you how stoked I am on the new feature update patch, im really excited about alot of things, and you upped my to-do list ALOT. (Which I thank you for, since i’m someone with alot of free time)
I am a player from Piken Square , a server that frequently interracts into a little thing called “Role-Playing”, I read the thread about the new megaservers, but I think this will negatively benefit the roleplay community as a whole. Therefore, I came with an idea that I think might be rather easy to implement, and that will give non-roleplayers (People who didnt know there were dedicated servers, or players who wanted to try it out) a chance upon getting an overall better experience. As it stands right now, Guildwars 2 doesnt seem to aknowledge roleplay as an actual feature (Something that nearly no game does anymore). However, I think you could make a real difference when it comes to that.
Now you might ask: “How do we go about doing that”
Very simple! Add a status, like we have the “Online” “Away” and “Invisible” status. And add a status called “In-Character (RP)”, one you turn this on, and switch map, you will be place with other people who picked this status, thus, you will increase the amount of roleplayers (Which are at this point actually dying out due to that one game I shall not name), and you will also give the roleplay community the love they diserve.
Please, if a dev takes the time to read this, will you respond? I would like to know your take on this.
