Son of Elonia.
In memory of a lost friend.
Son of Elonia.
Sorry for your loss and his untimely death. It’s always sad when someone you know dies, especially unexpectedly.
But I have to vote against making a NPC to honor one particular player who died, because he is not the only Guild Wars 2 player who has died. In a population of 4 million account holders, several thousand die each year. (If I did my math right, about 16,000 per year at a 4/1000 death rate) Some of these were active players. Not all can get their very own NPC or memorial, no matter how much their family and friends miss them.
So, while sorry for your loss I have to vote no. If you want a true memorial and if you haven’t already done so may I suggest you donate to a charity in his name, or donate your time to one.
ANet may give it to you.

Thanks. I agree with your point of view. But as lately there was a post (on twitter I guess?) about a player who died tragically and was “honored” with an NPC. We thought we could at least give it a try. I agree that not all players can be memorialized. Donations have already been made too. Thanks for your answer.
Son of Elonia.
Condolences to the family and friends.
How about instead of an NPC to any GW1/GW2 fan, how about a tombstone of some sort, maybe an area where Tombstones Fallen Hero’s of Tyria.
PvX
Deepest Condolences.
The world is less bright when a good person leaves. The gaming world loses light too when a good gamer is gone.
Condolences.. I have added my vote.
While some may be against adding an npc/tombstone in respect to a fallen player.. GSCH did make an entire server possible because of one person. (Sanctum of Rall) I do feel as though there should be some way to commemorate those who have fallen .. so I wish you luck in getting this approved.
May all the best wishes be with you in your time of pain, and please do take my sincerest apology for your loss.

First of all – condolences on your loss!
As to the request; on a general note, I’m not to keen on all these NPCs being added as testament to players that have passed away due to aforementioned reasons above.
However, maybe when Lion’s Arch is rebuilt and gets its Field of the Fallen, there might be memorial and gravestones there. Possibly one stone or another for players of the game to be recounted as an unlucky citizen of Lion’s Arch that didn’t make it out alive.

Friends,
thanks for your support and kind words.
I’m Steph, co-gm of [Tz] Team Zaishen will never die.
Some more words about our brother who died, about us.
We used to be the biggest guild of our server, hundreds of members.
For many reasons I’m sure you may experience, the guild was disappearing in summer 2014.
We were only around 10 players left, roaming at 5-8.
Glace Cassis was one of us, a friend, so kind and always smiling.
Spring 2015, the guild was growing again, 80+ members and a really friendly spirit.
I was so proud of [Tz] I decided to design a funny video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T1fYaiSJOg).
This video was published April 18th. Even if the texts are mostly in french, I’m sure you’ll feel our spirit, understand our history.
At 3:50 “Glace Cassis” is listed among the 9 players who rebuilt our guild.
He died April 24th, he was only 27.
What we are doing here is not for fun, not for playing, not a challenge, we are just lost and would love to meet him again somewhere in Tyria.
We won’t be angry if our request fails, we just “try” to keep him somehow alive in our virtual family home.
Peace,
Steph.
Because of the numbers pointed out (who do you recognize and not recognize) above I was thinking of incorporating it into whatever is the field of the fallen. Another monument, including players somehow, whatever.
Then inspiration struck. Not only would it show individuals in some way but it would be very little work on anet’s part.
Include in the lore a group of phoenixes (or some other appropriate creature) beyond the mists. All it would take to entrench it is an occasional mention from NPCs in the living story, whose dialogue has not been created yet anyway. If anet does not do it, the players themselves could spread the concept as an ‘unofficial’ bit of the lore.
I am not sure of the best way for players to do it but you could start with various boards and blogs. Eventually anet may pick it up as cheap PR.
Of course we’ll never ask ANet to implement a brand new character with his own story, voice…
Could be anything:
- a vendor refactored with our friend’s armor and name
- a tombstone with his character name
- maybe the best way for everyone would be a way to customize a NPC in the new Guild Hall, that way every single guild could keep a missing friend with them.
My heart and thoughts go out to you and yours. And to all of those we have lost in this seemingly cluster of natural disasters that have been rocking this little Earth of ours…Blessed Be.
It sounds like this was a great person. It’s such a shame that his time on earth was so short.
And, piggybacking on the memorial suggestions, I think it would seriously be great to have something (an eternal flame inside of a tombstone or memorial, for example) dedicated to players who have passed on. I think the Field of the Fallen idea was a great one (assuming that’s the name people voted for) or placed inside some other area of LA, like the chapel that’s being airdropped into the city.
Rest in peace. Condoleances out to his family relatives and friends ( irl and ingame ).
