Also what kind of offensive names? i’m sure if it’s something really foul and you screenshot it, send it as a report, something will be done… but if you take offense in some names cause you don’t like them…ohh well…grow up

This is a game that many of us play for leisure and relaxation. Why are you trying to dictate what people can name their pets? That’s simply not fair. I don’t log in just to tell you what color to dye your armor. Play how you want!
On the flip side, many people participate in online games as a way to act out things that they are not allowed to do IRL. Take, for example, the erotic role play community. As a side note, that’s who we should really be going after here, not the poor misunderstood Ranger pets.
Nicholas, please stop getting mad at video games.

God forbid someone getting upset about racial, homophobic, gender, etc. slurs. Where did society go wrong when we started treating people like actual people, instead of just belittling them at every turn?
As for what to do, I think the screenshot and then reporting is the best option. I’ve never seen anyone complain about being told to change a pet name/having a pet name reset for being offense. Anet may not check it when you report for having an inappropriate name.
The Devs have stated you must screenshot and append it to a reply to the automated response you will receive from creating a support ticket. (Same applies to reporting Guild Names/Tags.)
Using the in-game Report system will not suffice.

It is against the naming policy. You agree to the naming policy when you play Guild Wars 2. Violating the naming policy and being reported for it will result in repercussions. It does not matter at all if you think it’s people being too sensitive, it is breaking the naming policy. Good day.

Play how you want yes but still you have to follow the rules that made to make the world and the game a place for everyone to enjoy. It does not matter what you say, joke or plead about it. There will always be people out there who will report offencive names becouse they are against the “rules”.

A ticket is better. The report options have nothing to do with the guild name so they won’t know that’s what you are trying to report. Get the Display name and character name as well as the guild name and tag and report it on a ticket.
Correct. Please submit a ticket. The in-game report is expressly for character names.
What do we do for pet names? I’ve seen a few rangers running around with pets that have some obscene names, and others downright derogatory towards a certain demographic.
Submit a ticket. But please be sure you include the exact spelling of the character name or the display (name.1234) name, so that the team can look into the matter. It isn’t possible to pull a pet name without account-related info.

If I see inappropriate name I get some laugh maybe and ignore it. I dont run on forums to show that im white angel, I just keep playing the game.

Except the in-game features do not work for reporting pet names. You have to submit a ticket. Which is not intuitively obvious. So coming onto the forums to ask about it seems reasonable to me.
But it’s good that you don’t make forum posts to show how awesome you are.
