Inappropriate character name
The fact that it’s censored on the forums implies that they care somewhat.
I suggest you make a ticket. Be sure to explain to them that you already reported ingame so they won’t tell you to report it ingame. Top of page-support, top of page-submit a request. Violation report.
be sure to attempt to doxx the user with such username, and to report him to the authorities if possible, these kind of crimes should not be taken lightly.
Must be a very offensive name if you’re still worried about it a week later…

there are laws protecting people getting offended on the internet, so yes, I’d say it is completely justified for him to be offended at an inappropriate name 1 week after seeing it, and that authorities should take action against it.
I’m amused that this thread has unintentionally highlighted someone else’s inappropriate forum name.

Is it still inappropriate if Anet uses it for a character name in one of their games?

Thanks, I’ll file a ticket. The person is in my guild so I see the name pretty much every day in guild chat, and I’m not comfortable sharing a guild tag with it. Otherwise I would have probably forgotten about it by now, yes.

I’d wager there are as many older people that are offended as younger people. A lot has to do with how you’re raised and what you can expect in a “public” setting. A lot of younger people have different rules for the Internet and real life. A lot of older people don’t.

Poobadoo is in the game but you can’t use the first 3 letters in your character name either. The forum is censoring it, was my point.
This is one of the main reasons why the world is in the shape it is. People being offended by everything and shaming others into conforming to what they feel is the “right” thing. Sad world we live in these days…..
The internet has…laws?
Always figured they humored folks who reported names to keep customers and uphold terms and conditions.
Some names, I don’t mind if they get reported. Others, it seems like folks are too easily amused by their ability to report people and force them to change.
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!
Support does know how to use google translate to check reported names, but then again, certain names can slip through. If I would call you (in my native tongue, dutch ) an ‘Eikel’ then google translate will say: ‘acorn’. However, it is in my language an insult and a bad one. as mentioned the best way is to report this in a support ticket. You can then link to the following information:
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/eikel
Wich will tell you that this word is used for the top part of a male reproduction organ, as well as slang for some faul words.
So…if you feel that a report needs some explaination, it would be best to make a support ticket.
