The game as it is currently designed creates incentives to funnel all players into 1 zone; Cursed Shore. No other zone compares to the amount of XP gain, currency gain and quality of items. I assume that there will be more lvl 80 content later on just by looking at the map however, Tyria is so vast, mystic and beautiful. It pains me to see so few people in mid level zones. There’s so much content to experience there but, no incentives to do so.

No incentives isnt exactly true… take it from someone who spends forever playing DE’s

The Exp once you hit 80 isnt all that important, you tend to have unlocked all the skills you wanted as you progressed, so the others are just there to be unlocked whenever.
The Karma gained, around 400 for top zones, 274 for for mid isnt really that much of a major difference
Coin, I tend to get 1 and half silver from most DE’s

As for items, sure they dont drop as much as high zones, but you can still get drops for your level in other areas. Market value also helps a lot, Copper is still very high and very easy to obtain. Acolyte gear drops a lot a low levels and has mark ups of over 10x the vendor price.

I’ve been 80 for a few weeks, and I rarely spend time in CS. Sure I might make a little more money there, but who cares? I’ve already got full exotics and t2 cultural skins (which took me a week of causal play to get). I explore the rest of the game because i want to not because it gives the greatest rewards. You’ll find this mind set common among people who actually enjoy the game.

Actually, things in mid-level zones die considerably faster and don’t have the ludicrous mob placement and spawn rates that Orr has, so Bloodtide Coast and the couple of zones after it are great for collecting blue and green vendor trash and salvaging in-demand mid level mats at a faster rate than Orr (unless you’re a warrior, then you get to tap every mob in every wave on Orr’s DE farm).

I see a lot of people in all the zones in the game- actually I have never not seen plenty of people.
I love to revisit areas and I do it all the time, rewards are not really an issue because I enjoy what I’m doing and I can always sell stuff I don’t need and buy stuff I do need. I don’t feel funneled in the slightest.
