Posted in the Bifrost thread, but since I was commenting re my Incinerator, will repost here to bring dev attention:

I’ve been eagerly awaiting an aesthetic bump for my Incinerator too. But I don’t really see any improvement.

There is still no fiery aura glow or anything like that (like the Hunter, for example) – and while this was not part of the update announcement, even the footfalls are not any better.

If anything, they seem smaller and fade within half a second now. That may be just my perception as I am staring at them too hard, but they are tiny and fade almost instantly :/

They both need unique footsteps and auras just like they did with the predator.
The current aura is the worst in game :P

If that’s the case, I’ll be more than happy to wait a bit for a hotfix. My incinerator feels very lacking without one compared to someone with a Hunter, say.
But, something tells me it won’t happen and what we are already seeing is the promised aesthetic improvement as is now.

I’m glad that anet revamped many of the legendaries as some of them were just horrid before. I’m especially pleased with my Bolt, even though it was just a small upgrade on the footfalls, it’s much more prominent and it feels like a legendary with its effects. However, I feel as though Incinerator is falling behind. All of the revamped legendaries look amazing. Many new particle effects, texture upgrades, added animations, upgraded footfalls, and other cool things. When you compare Incinerator to everything else, it just feels very lacking. It doesn’t have any cool effects like the streaks twilight/sunrise leave behind or the electricity emitted by Bolt and it doesn’t have impactful footfalls. I can see it being tough to add animations or cool effects to a dagger since it’s a small weapon in nature, but if that’s the case, why not make its footfalls larger/cooler or add some sweet things like your character emitting some kind of heat aura or writhing flames around you. That would totally compensate for its size as a weapon. I also remember hearing the dev say during the livestream that there was supposed to be footfall upgrades for Incinerator, but nothing has changed =/ A couple of my friends and others in Lion’s Arch were disappointed by this. The change didn’t happen as indicated. The new revamped legendaries have set a standard for “legendaries”, and Incinerator just doesn’t quite have a place in the legendary line-up.

Let’s get our priorities straight first. Your legendary actually ticks all of the standard legendary effects commonly found on these weapons apart from their usually pretty skin. These are: Footfalls, an aura and weapon/kill effects. Your ‘aura’ seems to have been replaced by the effect on your arm.

While most legendaries have these ‘attributes’ some don’t. These are The Flameseeker Prophecies and The Minstrel. So let’s first update these legendaries before we even touch yours again!

Alot of the legendary weapons are by far not legendary looking, but more like super stupid fun weapons….

The Dreamer
Quip

just to name some..

SO in a regard of GW2 having weapons, that really look “truly epic” there is among the legendary items not very much that looks really appealing, but thats just my taste as i finkitten y of the exotic animated weapons looking far better than most to all legendary items and all of this without having those ridiculous foot steps and extra shiny special ridiculous annoying shoot effects (the dreamer) that kill basically for everyone the games immersion in an instant when some troll runs around with this crap and keeps on spamming the auto attack to kitten basically everybody off in their near with it who doesn#t like the visuals

I really hope that once the day is coming and anet adds more new legendary skin weapons ect. to the game, that they come up for the next batch of skins with far better and more serious looking epic weapon skins that truly deserve it to be called legendary and that they are more creative, than putting to every crap just always only foot steps and weird shooting effects ect. as also considering more things of the game, which could get visually improved by wielding a legendary weapon, like for examplre adding unique finishing moves to legendary weapons that are bonded to them by wieldign those weapons…

Or giving weapon/utility skills different skill animations when wielding legendary items
There still so much more space for improvement about all this. GW2 is far away from using out all of its potential.

When i look at legendary weapons, then I wait7expect something truly epic of it, somethign really spectacular that makes the item worth it to be called legendary.
Thats already one big thing that GW2 heavily lacks in, as all legendary items in the game are NO legendary at all, because those weapons have absolutely all no lore.

A true legendary weapon would be also truly unique and would exist in the whole game only 1 single time so that if you see a character running around with a legendary weapon, that you really see, that this player must be something special or must have something real great in the game to obtain the right to wield this weapon and to possess it and making it your own unique weapon that is part of your unique character like a suiting cap for its pot…

You guys know the drakengard game series ? There has every weapon in the game its own lore. Every weapon in these games feels truly unique and legendary because of having its own sagacious lore that backs the weapon up to be more trustworthy and explains why the weapon is and looks like, like what the weapon is looking like ect.

Currently I’d find it better, if Anet would rename the Ascendant quality better to “Mystical” and make out of the current Ascendant quality the then highest tier of weapon quality that should stand for the current legendary quality, because the game has absolutely no legendary weapons with its current system…

  • Fine
  • Masterwork
  • Rare
  • Exotic
  • Mystical (Ascendant)
  • Ascendant (Legendary)

And then reintroduce lare real legendary weapons that are 100% selfmade craftable weapons with its own user made lore and looks.

Even a games story weapon like Caladbolg is FAR MORE legendary, than anything we have in the whole game, because it HAS LORE behind of it

As like also real legendary swords as like Sohothin and Magdaer which are, you guess it, great parts of the whole game’s lore!!

This game could only achieve the goal if providing us players real legendary weapons, if Anet would finally allow us to create our absolute unique own weapons via crafting and using the mystic forge to design our very own unique weapons where the player can decide, how the weapon should be called, how the weapon should look like and what particle effects it should have by choosing out of a wide array of options and mix’ n matching these options together with sliders and all, color options ect. pp, until we have created something truly unique that we can save up as an account bound Weapon Skin that we can then put on any kind of weapon type that suits to the weapon skin’s weapon type.

The most important part comes right after that.
The game would allow us after putting the skin onto a legendary weapon to write a LORE for the weapon that other players could read, if we link our legendary weapon into the chat.

There would be shown then beside the Weapon Name link another clickable button, that opens up on click a new windor that shows us the weapon’s lore text.

That lore text can be limited to say maximum 50000 letters or so but it would allow us creative players to come up with our own real unique weapons.

Thats to me the most important thing about weapons, that make them truly legendary.

Legends are something, that have to be told.. a weapon is nothing legendary, if theres nothing to tell about !!

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

I think they should slow down the animation of the flaming twirl that wraps around you when you wield the incinerator. That’s is the best part about the incinerator but you could barely see the effect before it vanishes. When the animation is slowed down dramatically, it really stand out. Watch this video to see what I mean:

I would also love for the flaming twirl to constantly appear around you when ur character is standing idle. That would be a great addition. I rather have that than bigger footprints.

There was definitely no change to the Incinerator. Before the patch, I compared footfalls with a friend who has Twilight, and his are about three times larger than mine. We made the same comparison afterward, and they are exactly the same. The definitely screwed up that portion of the update.

Footfalls aside, they really need to bring ALL legendary effects up to par with things like The Dreamer. They clearly spent more time designing effects on The Dreamer than all the other legendaries combined, and not only is that disconcerting for the rest of us, but also a little pathetic.

Definitely was supposed to happen according to the patch notes:

Changes to Legendary Weapons

  • Legendary weapons now have increased stats to keep them in line with the new ascended weapons as “best in slot” items.
  • Legendary weapons now have functionality to allow their inherent stat combo to be changed to any other stat combo when out of combat.
  • The Bifrost: Updated the effects and texture to be more detailed and vibrant, enlarged the footfall effects, and added a new projectile.
  • Adjusted the position of the golden arrow on Kudzu and updated the effects on the Kudzu projectile.
  • Meteorlogicus: Updated the texture, effects, and animations; added a day/night cycle for the effects; and added a new footfall effect.
  • Frostfang now has larger, more impressive footfall effects.
  • The Juggernaut, Bolt, Incinerator, and Rodgort now have larger footfall effects.
  • Quip now has more impressive footfall effects.
  • Updated the texture and effects on The Moot.
  • Updated the effects on The Minstrel to be larger, more impressive, and more frequent.
  • Updated the pommel on Eternity and added a unique footfall effect.
  • Added a new footfall effect to The Dreamer.
  • Added a new projectile to Frenzy.
  • Added a new skill effect to Howler.
  • Updated the effects and texture on Kraitkin.

I’ve been walking around looking at Incinerators footsteps for a good half an hour now, and I’ve noticed that when the weapon is sheathed the footsteps “appear” every so slightly bigger and brighter are more even spaced out and possibly last a a fraction of a second longer , but as soon as the weapon is drawn they appear smaller, more dull, very close together and they seem to disappear a lot faster. I don’t know if I’m just going to crazy or not but it seems like if there was a change at all it only works when the weapon is sheathed. Which is the most kittened thing I’ve ever seen. It has to be bugged.
