1) Include the Z axis as a limit in the long bow distance calculation. The idea that you can’t stand on the side of a cliff or a building hit the ground below is absurd even in the context of a fantasy video game. I mean you could drop an arrow and it would presumably hit the ground. You can jump and hit the ground while holding an arrow. Why cant you shoot an AOE shot and hit the ground below? That should be an important tactical advantage of holding the high ground. Its ridiculus.

2) Have a short ledge on the wall of a keep, that comes up to my Norn’s ankles, impede my shot. Is the arrow coming from my knees?

1) i think its needed tbh. or perching would be a nightmare and it weould give unfair advantages to those defending keeps in wvwvw

2) i agree the ledge, its pretty annoying.. i know iots there to prevent grabbing and such but it really prevents u from shooting enemys unless you have an arcing attack..

Could be an anti-perching mechanic?

This sentence is false.

Agree this is game problem that you don’t really have to think about; you feel it in your gut. It has a defense, but it doesn’t really make any sense.

In the first game height would give you a range and damage boost vs lower elevated targets, to your arrow projectiles at least.

I’m guessing the reason it isn’t in this game is due to WvW. Although it totally makes sense for archers to be the most effective defenders of a raised fortified position and it’s not like they are very OP in any other way as it stands. Would be a nice addition if they implemented it to a sensible extent.

Gravity. What goes up must come down.
I believe there’s gravity in this game.
So no matter how high up above, projectiles MUST hit the ground below.
But no, arrows or any projectiles vanish into thin air halfway down from high grounds.
And its funny how i could take damage or even be killed if i fall from the same height.

Contradicting? Absolutely.
Nuff said.
