The rage will start in the second paragraph. But first off, lets me say that I do very much enjoy this game. There’s tons to do, and aside from income generation, I love it. Dungeons just feel epic. Even after the buff (player nerf lawlz) they are enjoyable. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when me and a bunch of buddies destroyed that gigantic metal golem in the dredge instance. They feel amazing, and really make you feel like you’re doing something great.

Here’s the thing. I was one of the kittens that ran CM over and over to help get exp and cash flow. I still enjoyed the dungeon, and we still occasionally tripped up and ran into issues. I don’t think that 26 silver a run is too much, but I can understand how that many people running dungeons that quickly can cause massive inflation, and why you’d want to control that. UNFORTUNATELY, as it stands, especially after the buff, there is no reason to run story mode more than once, and sometimes not at all.

To give you an idea of why this is a problem, a buddy was having issues with HotW. I went out to help him through the second half of the dungeon. Someone else left after a bit so we had a buddy come through and help us out as well. He is 80, so the cost was probably at least 2-3 silver to even get to the instance. Once in, we all wiped maybe twice, and we await our rewards. Keep in mind it was everyone’s first run. I got the typical lvl 80 26s and however much xp, as did the guy we came to help. Our friend who came to help got 2 silver. That is AS MUCH AS IT COSTS TO TRAVEL TO THE DUNGEON. It was also his first run, as he did receive the hat. I believe he actually lost money coming to help us. That is a problem. When I spend more money getting to an event than I make participating, I view that as another problem. It’s even worse if I don’t hit that one twitch out of the hundred needed in each fight and I die. Total loss at that point.

Anyway, you had your fun. I’m sure by now everyone is getting used to the harder dungeons and such, as am I. But for crying out loud, why put in a dimishing returns system that hasn’t really even been described as well as buff story modes? That really just does not make sense. Do one or the other, not both. Please revert at least one of the changes, as not all of us can buy gems when we need gold.

Hate to go on, but again, dungeon rewards need to be re-worked, majorly. Just getting some chests that don’t even drop that much (what, like two things and a chance at potions?) and a negligible amount of money/xp at the end is really ridiculous. It makes you feel, after those amazingly well designed dungeons, like you happen to be an escort working for tips, and somebody just stiffed you, twice.

Edit: Got a current event for ya. Friend of mine just ran ARAH for the first time. 45 minute run, 0 wipes, apparently a perfect run, and he got half of the usual reward. REMOVE WHATEVER SYSTEM YOU IMPLEMENTED, THIS kitten IS REDICULOUS!

Yeah pretty much we beat inflation with recession.

Im annoyed they did that they’re punishing people who used dungeons once or twice to get wp pocket money and maybe insurance.

Cant enjoy pve anymore, try spvp, more fun I say

I think income is fine. Compare it to the other large MMO that launched recently (SW:TOR), and we have it good here in GW2. In SW:TOR the rewards from Operations are equivalently less than in GW2.

In no way should you be able to run a 30 minute dungeon and get 24s in the current economy. No way. People that say otherwise are either annoyed that they missed out on this “oversight” or have been so spoiled.

To close – running a Dungeon (for straight up coin) should not be an option. Dungeons are for loot, tokens and for the challenge.

Ok. 24 silver is not too much for a 30 minute run. It is, however, if the run takes 30 minutes EVERY TIME. A smart solution would be to give diminishing returns PER DUNGEON. Not, “Oh, hey, you ran this other dungeon today, so enjoy your severely diminished returns on any other dungeon you run.” I haven’t even bothered trying to run explo mode because I’m afraid that it will be a complete waste of my time. Yes, dungeons give you loot. But that happens to be inconsistent. If nothing else, we at least need to KNOW how the DR system works.

Inflation is unfairly maligned in MMORPGs, I’ve found. Real life doesn’t have goods that stay the same price no matter what, such as skillbooks, waypoint travel, etc.

Yeah, and unfortunately every company that publishes an MMO treats it like a plague. Inflation caused by 26s for a 30m dungeon would not be that bad. 10m runs, yeah, but 30m? Thats less than a gold for each hour. Depending on drops you MIGHT make 1g/hour but still.
