Guild Wars 2

First, this is NOT a troll post. This is a serious observation on this forum, overall. It’s not aimed at any one poster, it’s a generalization. It seems, to me, that the sheer volume of whining has gone through the roof.

As in:

My <insert class here> got nerfed in last patch so now I am not competitive.

My opponent’s <insert class here> is OP so now I am not competitive.

Flippers and speculators have raised the cost of everything so now I cannot afford to be competitive.

Grinding/farming materials is soooooooo time consuming I don’t have time to craft to ascended so I am not competitive.

People are rude in LFG or bias towards my <insert class and build here> so I don’t want to do dungeon runs or do WvW.

Map completion/ascended weapons and legendaries are all too hard to procure or build.

ANet ignore my messages regarding “X” and they should do something about it.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. For people who post legitimate (IMO) issues like buggy code or severe lag times, this post doesn’t apply. Consider this to be me saying, buck up and make it work or take a break. I love this game, the possibilities for game play are awesome as is the customization of my toons and the art work/maps. The game has incredible replay value and I have played plenty of open world situations that are so limited in comparison. All of my examples above are what I think of as frivolous complaining.

Are there issues with the game? Absolutely but we have to work with what we have, we are players, not the developers. Does it help to rant and get opinions off your chest, sure, I just think the volume of crying has gone way up compared to those posts that actually have something positive/constructive to say. This scares away new people.

Edit: relevance is that, there are no whining threads like that whining thread. /internetwon

I would guess it have to do with the fact that more and more people decide to stay away from the forums, due to the sheer amount of whining going on everywhere. And thus it seems like the whining itself is increasing.

Well, that’s pretty funny though I am not sure if my post is being blasted or compared to that one? Don’t answer, I’ll read it again.

Yes there are alot of whinning post.

But no there is not an increase in whinning post, since there have always been many.

And if you don’t realize, game forum are usually full of whinning post.

A post whining about people whining.

OP, welcome to game forums in general. Every game has a forum, and they are all filled with tears and bile. GW2 is no different. The whining has been like this since the 3 day headstart. The only time it wasn’t this bas was during the beta, because the beta community was cool and cared more about giving constructive feedback and reporting bugs, than about crying.

It’s like a dog begging for treats.

If you ignore it, eventually it will go away.
If you feed it, it will keep begging for more.

ANet fed the dog in November 2012 when it added ascended gear. Now every few months it keeps feeding the dog. That’s why the dog’s not going away.
