Incredible patch timing
That kind of insane ideas have no place here.
There is a major world boss every hour. No matter what hour they chose you would still be here complaining.
They push out the updates as soon as they are available. There is no downtime and the fixes benefit people immediately.
Tequatl and triple trouble are not every hour. When the patch hit, it cost me the chance to do those events for that day and everyone else who was preparing for them. So anet screwed me several times with that patch ^^

This, basically…
There is no perfect time in a game that is playable 24/7 to update, that is not going to inconvenience someone.
Also…
-slow-claps for the ultra-snark-tastic tone of the OP-
Way to do your part at keeping these forums a nice, toxic, hate-filled mess…

I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’

I wish I had a dollar for every time a patch came when I was in the middle of something. I’d be able to buy a sandwich for lunch at work . . .
But . . . yes, I would absolutely love for ArenaNet to start going “yes, we have the patch ready but we won’t put it in until Triple Trouble/Tequatl finishes. Just bear with the broken stuff until those people finish their raid”.
The forum would look glorious . . .
Sounds like a you problem.
No, seriously. Patch gives 10 minute warning, map decides if they’re going to patch or not – usually PuG maps will not and sometime guild maps will. Then we have a whole hour in the open world after the patch hits to do whatever we like. No disconnects here and I very rarely see guildies get disconnected (and there are a lot of us doing these events).
BTW..this patch was different in that the servers were shut down. 99% Of other patches give you 1 hour in open world 3 hours in dungeons to complete before you are removed. Ample time to finish what you need. I understand your frustration, I’ve been dc’ed for 3 or 4 champs in the last week two of those as my guildies on mumble said ‘there it goes!’, losing all the rewards. However, this is the best patching system in any game. I will not stand for a battle.net shut down every tuesday for maintainence.
@tobias- we got the 10-minute notification 20 mins before teq was due to spawn. We thought “Fine, we’ll do teq and then log to patch up.” but no, cos the servers went down. Teq spawns 3 times a day, but really it’s only once a day if u have a job; same with triple trouble and karka queen. They set the timers in the first place, and they decided to screw us out of our daily teq run with the timing of the patch. I wouldn’t have minded as much if it was a minor boss (or even karka which has crappy loot) but it wasn’t. And what ‘broken stuff’ do you refer to? The trait system? ^^
Yeah, everyone else should just wait until youre done with /whatever yor doing and ping ANet green light.
FYI other games would took 5+ hours to do that, and often in prime time for some regions.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Yeah you know there is a spectator working for Anet who keeps an eye on bigger groups of players organizing a run. And everytime when there is a specific amount he calls in the devs to roll in patch to ruin the game experience.
At least thats how many of us feel.
Le sigh. Do i have to spell it out for you guys? Are you the people the NPE was designed for? It’s a major event which hundreds of people prepare for and organise (through several languages) that is on a timer set by anet. Is it really to much to ask anet to respect their own major event timers? If the servers had remained up (as usual during a patch) there would likely have been no problems but no, servers down; daily chance at teq weapon skins gone. Not sure if i can make it any simpler to understand.

Hmm, simple solution: Fight Teq another day.

And I’d rather miss out on Teq for the day than have a patch delayed.
It’s ONE day. Are you really that OCD about doing Teq every day that missing one day due to ANet FIXING something is the end of the world?
Here’s what the patch fixed:
A door in Crucible of Eternity did not open. They fixed that. And they fixed an issue that caused the launcher to crash.
Is your ability to do Teq more important than some players ability to play the game at all? Was ANet supposed to email them and go: Sorry, we can’t take the server down and fix your issue because Teq is about to spawn.
I bet they’d get this in response by someone: I only have so long to play due to work, so take the server down and fix the issue.

No, I’m not a new player and have been playing since BWE2. Though if you’re trying for a smear on my intellectual capability you’ll need to try harder.
It’s a major event which hundreds of people prepare for and organise (through several languages) that is on a timer set by anet.
It also may take longer than ten minutes if the organization is not perfect. So, saying “oooh, patch coming, maybe we should wait for the next cycle” is more prudent than “we got dis”.
Tequatl isn’t a limited event, you know. He does run a cycle, and nothing he drops is only available at given times. There is a tomorrow to do him if you can’t make it today, and you don’t lose anything for postponing doing an event you probably don’t have time to finish anyway.
Is it really to much to ask anet to respect their own major event timers?
I suppose it might be too much to ask players to think further ahead than the current potential loot box.

OMG, it’s not about “Bwah, don’t patch me game!”, it’s ab out better timing – like: “Let’s do this when the big ones are done (or between them).”.
Maybe you can explain (and this didn’t happend just ONCE, last week it was almost the same at tri-head, don’t know how many times before that) what’s such a big problem to delay the patch 20 minutes.
And idc if other games need 5 hours/days/weeks for that and some stupid flames ’cause of lack of other arguments about loot boxes and bla – this would have been a player/customer friendly decision, nothing more and nothing less.
Hmm, simple solution: Fight Teq another day.
And have the same problem another day. Cool loop!

@ those above: they just had to implement the patch at a different time. Stop putting words in my mouth. If anet had patched up an hour or two before teq all drama would have been avoided. They screwed-up the timing to make hundreds of (if not a thousand or so) players miss a major event when it could all have been avoided with a little forethought.
Anyway, it’s all done and dusted now; getting back to my time-gated crafting, time and level-gated new char levelling and AR-gated fractals…
Do you know the internal workings of Anet? Did it occur to you that there is a reason when patches go out that you might not be aware of? Patches happen when they happen, sometimes you catch a unlucky dice roll… end of story.
