Hey guys.
My dad and myself have long been gw and gw2 players and love the game.
My dad has bought/collected most of the home instance nodes and was advised to advertise parties for 20s to farm his home instance.
He started to do it as the thought of extra legit gold enticed him, but he recieved a message that he could be banned for this.

My question is;
.can he be banned for selling his home instance nodes?
.can he be banned for advertising parties to sell them in map chat?
.can he be banned for advertising parties to sell them in lfg?

Its really important that he gets a straight answer, because he doesn’t want to get banned. He has worked long and kitten his account.

Thank you

There’s nothing wrong with posting that in map chat; it’s just against the rules to post it in the LFG.

So what about map chat?

Map chat is not intended for bartering any sorts of trades or services. This could cause problems for being reported for spam.

Ah sorry I posted my last post as JustTrogdor posted his.
Thats what im worried about, I dont want him to get into trouble for spamming map chat.
Is there anyway he can work it without getting in trouble?
haha it sounds as if its for me, but i only have 1 node in my account lol

Your father’s best bet is to make friends and offer the service privately.

There is a difference between posting his offer once and then once again five or ten minutes later and “spamming”. Spamming, which is not allowed/wanted, is the constant reposting of the same thing within a short period of time. There is also nothing in the TOS that says you can’t use the chat system to barter; you simply do so at your own risk as Anet cannot be held responsible for transactions not done via the Trading Post.

He would have to actually “spam” map chat to get in trouble. As in, post the same messages repeatedly over and over. Sure some people might report him for spam, people report guild advertisements all the time. Its meaningless. Anet would not be banning you for spamming for a couple posts in map chat.

Your dad will be just fine if he posts in /m, if anything he would get suppressed if it moves in the area of spam. As long as he doesn’t /m obscene racist profanity he won’t have any repercussions. A few trolls may use the report function, but it won’t go anywhere.

and what Monkey Fritz said.

Yes and if 5 -10 players start doing that, posting offers for home instance nodes every five or ten minutes map chat turns into a trading channel and all other map discussions turn into a big mess. It’s already a mess as it is with guild spam. We don’t need more.

Just like Anet recently made a statement about using LFG to sell. If it becomes a problem they will ban it.

wow that is a great idea for the morning guild regulars catching coffee!

three people with full nodes would be pretty simple to coordinate once worked out. Maybe 5-7 total if everyone followed a script. That beats farming blades for the time required. Lots of usefulness there.

That isn’t any kind of exploit is it? Seems legit to me, but hey I didn’t understand why they had the great snowflake ban of ’12

It’s common practice to “accept tips” for these type of services.

I’m pretty sure you can only gather once a day per node and that if you go into another instance, it won’t be available the second time.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Oh I misunderstood. I guess that is common sense or we would have home instance trains everywhere.

Crafting an item and then salvaging that item for a 2 to 1 increase in the materials that went into it? That was quite clearly an exploit and a bug known as item duping, and has been around since some of the first rpg’s.

Getting all the crafting nodes in your home instance is a massive gold sink. It would take a very a long time for even the most coordinated farms to make back that initial investment.

However, I do expect it to get nerfed eventually. Depends on how profitable those node sales on the gemstore are. Because honestly I cannot see any other purpose to waste so much gold or real world money on them. If they make the mining fully account locked, the sales might drop.

You can post ads in map chat as long as it is reasonable (guilds post ads in the same channels and nobody cares).

Posting in LFG is a bannable offense though.
