For example:
A Mighty infusion cost me 100 Powerfull blood 20, mystic coins, 50 phylosopherstone and 250 fruit.
This will give me +5 power, which will increase my damage by 0,025%.

Then I collected the materials and got my 0,025% dmg boost. (whiehoo!)

Then the patch notes:
Grenade #1 does 30% less dmg.

So what’s the point of adding infusions with such small stats increase, while the game is still in the fase that it needs to balance the rough edges of several professions, dungeuns and items?

btw. no offense, i just wondered

that’s what i’ve been saying… its laughable and at first they even charged you 50 skill points. Whoever made them as useless should rethink the whole thing or make these infusions cost 5g and under.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

why bother with getting the 5 extra stat if you don’t think it’s worth it? your logic is just counter logical . that’s the point of this system. you get it if you want to. if you don’t think it’s worth the time then don’t do it .easy as that. it’s not like you won’t be able to play some of the content just because you dont have 5 stat points ( or 10 if you add them together).

if you think it’s worth the stat. then do it. otherwise, why bother? i haven’t bothered. because 5 or 10 stat points for me makes basically 0 difference.

There simply are a lot of people who take pride in collecting top gear together. Anet basically gave them a carrot that costs a ridiculous amount…to keep them busy.

If you collected football cards and you got 99 of 100. How much is it worth to you to complete the set? Are you going to be happy with 99 or would you like to have all 100 to be able to say you have the whole set? Even if the last one costs a ridiculous amount?

It’s all about human nature and how people work. Not everybody is the same, but the fact that you don’t get it, basically means you are different and have a hard time understanding others are different. Or in other words: Just cause you don’t see the point, doesn’t mean there isn’t one. There just is no point for you. And you are not the template for mankind.

I wouldn’t even bother with the infusions that add +5 to x stat since its so infinitesimal compared to the amount of mats you need (100 t6 mats, wtf is that). I would just go with the versatile simple infusions for 75 fractal relics which you can get in 2 fractal sets. Afterall, the only point of infusions is the agony resistance. If you’re just getting ascended gear for WvW, then you don’t even need to worry about infusions or AR.

i am in fact aware of this and that’s why i included specific terms like “you” and “me”. i never said in my post that everyone was considering the stats useless and that no one should ever get them. i was merely saying that if you don’t want it you should not get it.

and if you are a collector or a “i want everything in max stat” type of person and you are prepared to do anything that is needed to get it. then obviously you think the extra 5 stat is worth it, thus you should get it and work for it.

Apologies, I see I misread your post.

I do wonder what things will look like when full sets of ascended gear will be available and how much statistical difference there will be then. Especially since chances are that stronger infusions will come as well.

Just saying the increased stats are negligible compared to the nerf and buffs there making at this stage

Np, it happens to everyone.

my guess is that overall the full ascended stat will grant the same as full exotic does in comparison to full rare. so [rare stat] * X = [exotic stat] and [exotic stat]* X = [ascended stat].

and i’d say the same on the infusions. so we have blue right now. we will then be given masterpiece and then rare … etc. but idk. and then what? i mean i know they’ve said they want some kind of vertical progression ( although a very small one but still vertical). what happens after ascended gear+infusion? they’ve said they wont introduce a new tier. infusion 2.0 ? starting from blue again? but this time with a additional resistance and add another dungeon were we need another type of infusion?

They did say though that they may introduce items with better stats within already existing tiers. So expect “Ascended… but Better!” items later on. And they won’t introduce a new tier… in 2013. In 2014 however…
And as for higher tier infusion stats… compare tier 1 jewels with orbs (or, better, with ascended tier embedded jewel equivalents from fractal rings). There’s a lot of “progress” space here.

Actions, not words.

who said i did? i did not. what i’m saying is why’s this crap even in the game? like i understand some people want the absolute best stats but this is 5….. PLUS FIVE to ONE attribute. Seriously lol +5 haha. Even if i had 1k gold i would never spend 30 gold for a +5 stat.

The problem isn’t so much a damage nerf directly it’s such drastic changes that could cause someone to not enjoy a particular weapon set or build anymore. If you spent a ton of effort getting+5 power on the ring but now you want to go condition you are just out of luck.

Say you really like the great-sword for your warrior so work hard to get a ledgendary. Then Anet makes a large change that makes you not want to use the Greatsowrd any longer for whatever reason. That would just suck. Any time/effort you put into anything can be wiped out due to a change that is counter to your particular tastes.

It would be nice if hard to acquire mystic forge crafted items, legendaries, etc could be salvaged into say 80% of their original parts to help with this. I personally have an exotic set and every weapon for my favorite class to play with all specs. I’m working on a forge item for my favorite weapon set but will always be scared they will change the spec I’m blinging out to not be the one I want to play any longer making all this effort a waist.
