When I heard about the new Ascended Armor/Weapons coming out, I was really hoping they wouldn’t have infusion slots. Runes/Orbs/Sigils are so much better for customization because we could choose our stats more decisively. Now the only thing we can customize is a 5 stat difference. Part of the fun of this game(for me) was figuring out what runes/sigils/orbs to use for certain builds in certain situations. If Agony Resist is the problem, just add new runes/sigils/orbs with Agony Resistance.

Also, please add more stat combinations like [Valkyrie], [Soldier], etc. And if you still plan to go with infusions(please don’t), atleast add more of the mixed stats like you did with [Berserker + Valkyrie]. You need variety in a game like this.

Ascended/legendary weapons will probably have sigil slot + infusion slot.

Where did they say this? I am unable to find this source. Not saying it doesn’t exist, I just can’t locate it.

I read it on Dulfy’s site , was source link too, though I didn’t click it.

On the same token, no one said that they would replace sigil slot with infusion slot.

It all started off with one assuming rant from one player

and now we have threads like these lambasting a concept for being ‘terrible’ when it’s not even confirmed

Actually, it all started with the announcement from ANet that stated:

“Legendary weapons are getting a stat boost and an Offensive Infusion slot to align with the new Ascended weapons! "

They could have squelched the ‘rumors’ about eliminating the sigil slot in favor of an infusion slot long before now but they have chose not to.

Until time that they do confirm that legendary weapons will have both a sigil and infusion slot, there is plenty of room to be concerned.

From dulfy’s page:

Legendary Weapon Updates: Legendary weapons are getting a stat boost and an Offensive Infusion slot to align with the new Ascended weapons! Legendaries are also receiving additional functionality: When out of combat, Legendary weapon bearers will be able to choose between different stat combinations for your weapon. And to top it all off, many Legendaries are getting some aesthetic upgrades!
Both sigils and infusions are available on updated Legendaries and you won’t be forced to choose between them (source)

That’s all I got though…

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

They’ll have a sigil slot and an infusion slot.

Ascended trinkets built the jewel slot into the item to open the door for more variety in the future – there are a few with different jewels than the base item stats, and you can expect more in the future.

I see the post from Dulfy and her source.

This is still not officially confirmed though, so that would be very nice if it was.

Is it really asking too much to confirm that legendary weapons will have both a sigil slot and an infusion slot or not?

Shouldn’t be a big secret at this point.

I just sort of assumed more clarification would come in the expected, upcoming blog post. Martin states they would be posting a blog about the patch, when asked about the MF changes.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I swear I read a reply by them to a forum on here.

Edit: Here, this is where I read it. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab-bts/Sigil-slots-for-legendary-weapons-next-update/first#post2713236

I’m assuming Talara is a dev? If not then it’s not official.

1. “Getting” does not imply “trading”. If I say I’m getting married it does not mean I’m trading in an existing wife for a new one, it means I didn’t have a wife before and now I do.

2. If the sigil/rune slots are removed, then Exotics will be superior to Ascended in most cases because the stat increase from E>A is likely to be insignificant (if any) and the sigil/rune provides the more important functionality. Since this is nonsensical, it follows that the sensible thing is to add an infusion while retaining the sigil/run slot.

When I heard about the new Ascended Armor/Weapons coming out, I was really hoping they wouldn’t have infusion slots. Runes/Orbs/Sigils are so much better for customization because we could choose our stats more decisively.

Current Ascended gear has higher stats build-in, so the Infusion is an extra. Back when Ascended gear was first released, they had 2 sets of stats, for example a Berserker Ascended Ring had Power listed 2 times, one for the Ring itself and one for the build-in Jewel.

It made sense for jewelry because the jewels added similar stats to the item itself most of the time. It doesn’t make sense to have Sigils or Runes build-in in gear, so I believe weapons and armor will have an extra slot.
