Instant Repair Canister - after April 15
I plan on holding onto mine for fractals or times when porting to a repairman is too much trouble.
They’ll still have a use.
The update is just making repairs free, you’ll still have to go to an armor repair NPC to get it done. Which means canisters will still have the same function they always did of saving you having to stop what you’re doing to go and find an NPC.
I assume no one ever spent 70 gems (about 4g) buying a canister to avoid paying 12s for repairs, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
They aren’t removing armor damage, just the cost to repair. The main point of Instant Repair Canisters (imo) is to give you an option to repair your armor “in the field” in some place like FotM where you can’t normally repair. There really isn’t any reason for Anet to remove them from the game.
I though the gear won’t get damaged anymore. Well now it makes more sense
If Anet doesn#t remove the silyl repair system altogehter with removing the costs, the whole crap system becomes nothing more than just an 100% obsolete nuisance that will be only annoying to hell, that you have to run to a npc/ forge iron thing just to get your stuff repaired for free only out of the reason, so that yopu don’t run into the danger of having to potentially fight naked >.>
Thats ridiculous.
Anet shpould completely remove that silly repair system and replace it with somethign better, thats more well thought out, without that it punishs too much new players, but only thoughtless players….
Oh.. so don’t use them all up before the 15th.. good call.
I still don’t understand removing the repair cost.
Are we being encouraged to fail?
Are we getting a return of the excellent morale penalty system from GW1 to replace repairs?
Or is this just a good way to justify removing some of the uncontrolled gold faucets from the game?

eh there’s still armor damage, it just doesn’t cost money to repair. they’re removing it to justify nerfing loot money again.
The gold sink wasn’t needed any longer.
RIP City of Heroes
If they’re making it free, why even have armor durability in the game? Just remove the whole system.
If they’re making it free, why even have armor durability in the game? Just remove the whole system.
Because there still should be a penalty for sloppy or in-over-your-head play (and any other reason why you get defeated). Surely you don’t want to make GW2 players any lazier than they seem to be already?
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Death penalty.

Thats pretty good point.

They have adequate Justification for nerfing the champion train in the game. It is not what the developers Intended.
They don’t need extra justification. Like removing the repair bill, or removing the trait respecc costs. Those are independent from The Champion Train nerf.
They’ll still have a use.

I have, when it comes to fractals if the party leader leaves the instance everyone gets kicked so the only option is to either fight naked or use a repair canister.

Please take the time to explain how this encourages people to fail? I’m honestly curious. Bad players aren’t concerned about failing because they may have to pay the occasional 10s. Nobody cares about that, least of all bad players. They are concerned about failing because it a) slows down the group and b) makes them look bad and might get them kicked out of a group.
“Oh man, no more repair costs, hmmmm, that’s some good encouragement for me to wipe in my next dungeon run over and over. Yep, I’m only being rewarded here for dying and not finishing this dungeon, angering my mates, wasting everyone’s time. Yep, totally encouraged to fail since I don’t have to pay 12s every 10 deaths or so.”
Is this how you imagine the thought process would go?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
