Instruction how not to be disappointed again:
Simple:
do not put all your hope in the April update.
While we do not know what it will contain and fix, one thing is a safe bet: it cannot by any means fix everybody’s issues, simply because that’s too much and there are even contradictory issues between different types of players, so a fix for the ones might even be a new issue for the others.
I’ve seen an unhealthy dose of “let’s wait for the April update” in the forums recently. Don’t be surprised if it is not the best thing since sliced bread. It can only do so much. And work for this update surely started some months ago, so a lot of recent “trends” may not even be covered at all.
I look forward towards April with interest, but a reserved from of hope. Not falling for another hype train. I think it is best to accept that there is no silver bullet, progress will come in steps. It will come, but not all upfront.
Solid point. Very solid.

not being cynical, just being truthful: I don’t care right now. I’ll get my hopes up for the july update when we get Living Story 3
I always have low expectations. Sucks having to pay money towards one though. At least the patch will be free.
Dunno if I’m setting myself up for disappointment, necessarily. I expect it, at this point.
But April’s update will determine if I come back for more play time or if I binge on console games again. I still recall getting so torqued at a failed metaevent that I turned around and rage-bought a game. Currently clocked at 80 hours on it, so it was a worthy purchase.
I don’t like that GW2 inspired that in me, though. So, I want to have hope for April, even though I don’t believe ANet can deliver the right adjustments.

It’s a very zen thing, honestly. If you don’t keep expectations, you can’t be frustrated.

I really like that. Thanks for sharing it.
Yeah, I don’t really expect the April update to solve anything, honestly. I don’t know the list of things for it, but I’m guessing there’s not going to be anything for me to do really. I’m mostly playing other games right now, so the update would have to be fairly impressive, or I’m still going to be waiting for July (or most likely even later).
the only way one is to never be disappointed.. is for one to never appoint something out of their control to a position that could lead to it.
something like that..lol
Just be in the mindset that Anet will just outright cancel the game in April. Then anything will sound like great news.
Sad that it has gotten to this point.
