Ever since you opened the door to macro’s being used for music instruments I personally haven’t taken my instruments out. Much to my sadness now that playing an instrument has no musical significance I would love to be able to block some of the macro instrument players just on the basis that I dont really feel like listening to the fake stuff, I can just listen to a mp3 file of something if i want to hear a recorded song in a low quality environment. Is extending the block feature into also removing instrument sounds from specific players a possibility ?

Honest question here:

Did you support the idea of allowing players to block instrument sounds from specific players before macros ?

You can change instrument volume so you can’t hear instruments.

Even though I personally don’t care for those who use the macros with the instruments, I just move out of range of hearing them. I do the same with the players who have no sense of rhythm and musicality.

So, just move out of range, and be done with it.

Thing is, i’d love to be able to keep hearing instruments because I think they bring something unique to the game. Something that macro’s take away, hence my question, if there is any possible way to block specific players from being heard or of the blocking system could be extended to audio. Moving out of range isn’t always an option. (for ex, having to stay at a location for a guild mission. A running musician using macro’s in a WvW group)

@ashen : Probably, I hadn’t thought about that. Ive never had a reason to want to block music players before, even the bell/horn spamming for annoyance never really bothered me.

I don’t ever have the volume on with this game. You can do that too.

I think that the ability to block sounds and emotes of certain players might be more useful than a global volume slider for all instruments. It would also take care of people using their talking gear to make a nuisance of themselves, without blocking people who are just trying to play music to entertain their fellow players. Maybe if there were two block options:
block sound & emotes
and
block completely

Actually, I think it would be sweet if blocking someone completely would also make them invisible. But that’s something for another thread.

I swear, judging by their post history some people just come here to troll the forums.

I suppose the elitist attitude can be found in all aspects of GW2 now, even the musically inclined. How very sad.

If wanting people to actually play the instrument (or game) instead of using a pre-programmed macro to do it for them makes me an elitist, I shall don that title proudly.
