ArenaNet
Hey all,
Our HR team just sent over a pretty cool opportunity. If you’d like to become a (local, Seattle/Bellevue area) playtester for ArenaNet, please head over to this page and fill out the survey.
All the excitement.
Then you need to be local
Yeah get a warrior/guardian playtester. Noone plays warrior/guardian in wvw nowadays…LOL
I’ll play test ‘Meeting the Asura’.
Interesting opportunity. Lucky for those in the local area.
ah, no playtesting in Massachusetts. :^(
-Chris
Ah kitten it! We’re planning on moving up there but not soon enough
All the excitement.

Same. SO excited and want to be a playtester…but then the local thing. sadness.
Local. Bleh. Why not have data from all around?
What, you think they’ll let the software escape the lab?
Probably people have to playtest on machines isolated from the internet and thus must physically go into the ANet building.
I know that my hopes of doing some sort of game job (I am not so very far from Zenimax) were dashed once I learned that I couldn’t telework (not so far still equals hellacious traffic making for a possible two hour one way trip). They just can’t let game dev data get out, secrecy is paramount. The mad amount of hours required was another problem, too
Yet another reason to be disappointed I don’t live in Seattle.
Yet another reason to be disappointed I don’t live in Seattle.
Yet another reason to be disappointed that I live outside of America.
I would love to!!!
But I live in Spokane so……
:(
i love too too, but am in the United Kingdom
I do understand that coming to the office for a spell of testing would be a bit of a commute for most of you.
I’m going to change my subject line to prevent dashed hopes and disappointed dreams!

I still wouldn’t completely rule it out.
I once travelled from just outside London, England to Yakima, Washington (via Seattle) to see a concert. In a bar. It was worth it.
My one regret is that I didn’t have time to see Seattle while I was there.

That is sad. Seattle is really cool.
I’ll admit it. I was hoping ‘local’ meant ‘crazy’.
wow im near yet so far im in Oak Harbor WA would love to sniff…
In the description itself, it says something about if you aren’t local, you can fill it out anyway, in case they ever can use people who aren’t local, so I did. Can’t hurt.
Would it be on weekends?
Local, but have a day job.
If study is off hour or weekend, will definitely be interested.
If ANet could send a private jet plane to pick me up, I could be local……
You don’t need to be local to playtest for Arenanet!! Just go to the Heart of the Mists. PvP players have been playtesting for years! #Laddertestseasonnumber2 #whenitsready
3000 miles isn’t bad for a commute, right? Right?
oh man, I signed up for sure. live in Olympia, but I work in Redmond (another unnamed software company) so the trip down to ANET would be fun for sure.
Its been a dream of mine to help with the development of gw2 and give my honest feedback gaile, but the issue is i live in maine so..
Pretty awesome of you guys to ask the local players to help out! I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more betas come May, and I’d be happy to participate if they’re over the web. Good luck!
EDIT:

Pretty awesome, I’ll fill it out myself. I’d love to help them out with testing.
I work in Bellevue so I am definitely signing up. I have a personal day I could use to get out of work and still get paid for a day.
Everyone knows that this is just a marketing ploy by Gaile and the local Seattle government to get people to move there so we can work at Anet.
Clever girl…
On a side note, are some of the perks being invited to the Anet guild and having lunch with Colin?
Why did I have to get born into a family in Indiana sigh
What if your 1 1/2 hrs drive away? Can you still get called in for a play test? Or do you have to be in the immediate Seattle area?
Is that link going to work in two months time? (not quite in Seattle yet Q.Q)
Local tester.
Must be in the USA.
When are you guys gonna get past your continental hang-ups? First it’s the forum specialists, then you further narrow your scope with this testing gig. There’s plenty of international’s for the taking.

/smh.
Hi Gaile! First of all I wanted to say thanks for being so friendly in Frostgorge Sound the other day! It was fun to joke around with an Official Person.
Secondly, and more relevantly, I just submitted an application since I’m quite local and have plenty of time with which to commute and playtest, but I accidentally submitted my application without putting the numbers at the end of my account name, so it’s just listed as “Eggpie”. Would that be a problem? I tried to go back to add them but it said I’d already taken the survey, so I just wanted to double check that it wouldn’t be TOO much of an issue.
Thanks!

Only 16,415 km…
Any chance of something like this for the UK?
Ooohh neat applied and thanks for informing us –

I don’t think it’s entirely their choice.
With the forum specialists it was because, depending on labour laws, they could be defined as Arenanet employees, in a similar category to unpaid interns. Which in some places may require Anet to provide health care, pay expenses or otherwise have responsibilities and costs they’re not able to cover. Or even if they were working out the variations for every country where people play the game would be a huge amount of work and may lead to resentment if forum specialists got different ‘perks’ depending on where they live.
In this case it’s because they’re looking for people to actually go to their offices to do a test. Presumably so it can be done on a machine that’s not connected to the internet and they can make sure you don’t have your phone/a video camera and therefore nothing gets leaked.
It would be a huge ask for anyone who isn’t local to do that. Maybe some people would but I can understand why they wouldn’t want to encourage it.
Yay! Although it’s a 35min drive and a parking spot away, I will begrudgingly tolerate Seattle drivers to test out GW2 thingies!
Can I volunteer for a work at home position?
Glad you are doing testing.
I’m intrigued by this as to whether this is for Heart of Thorns or Guild Wars 2 in general OR a new game they’re working on entirely?
Playtesting for Guild Wars 3 confirmed? * puts up riot shield *
What about Bremerton? That’s a short ferry ride for me.

oh Gaile please respond to this man(or woman)! Surely we are considered local enough!
Thank you for the opportunity! * hugs Gaile*
I turned in my survey! I hope to see you guys soon!
