Seems like it, I have noticed when I done some 1Vs1 against my GF that she always interupt my dodges with her Necromancers Horn daze skill.

Yeah, warhorn skill 4 (Wail of Doom) is unblockable, but it’s undodgeable as well?!?

Possible that it’s a bug…

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

there are some skills in game that appears to be non-evade’able – my guild mates laughts when I speak of them but the thruth is that if such would not exist my thief would be on the edge of immortality considering how much I sapm with evades and dodges – and then alot of thing are damaging/cc’ing me in the middle o dodge roll or evade ability….

[you remember risen abominations? their charge can get one really unkindly if said person will happen to dodge in wrong direction, also how about floor traps in AC explorable modes? ever tried to dodge through static field?]

EDIT: and back in gw1 as there were unblockable abilities there were ones with “non-evadeable” in tooltip :P

Certainly some skills can’t be evaded. Ele Staff Static field is an example. You can’t simply dodge through the field to avoid the stun.

So Daredevil’s dodges are useless then? Rename it to DOWNDEVIL because their dodges are unreliable and will only get them downed, or CLOWNDEVIL since their dodges are something to be laughed at.

I know some skills are undodgeable btw. -.-

Wouldnt say that. Havent had any issues with dodges so far, and its unlikely to change.
Also, i cant remember ever being stunned by anything while dodging other than statics and the bloody guardian ring that i cant remember the name of.

That’s what I’m talking about. How the kitten did that mesmer interrupt my dodge midway through? I know he was going to stun me the moment he reappeared, that’s the kittening reason why I dodged in the first place.

What I saw in your video at the VERY slow motion part, is that their attack reaches you BEFORE your endurance is drained (the conditions and stun are applied before your endurance is reduced). So your roll probably didn’t count as a dodge yet at that point.

I still find it weird that you get interrupted though. Either your endurance should not have been drained or the roll should be effective, but not this.

Honestly it looks like lag to me.

Dodges are coded in such a way that you do the animation client side so it feels smooth, but the actual effect (including the evade and movement) usually happens a split second after that on the server. if your ping is high enough, you might see yourself in a dodge where the server does not long enough for someone to actually land a hit. It’s happened to me before when I was downloading a bunch of stuff and there were two people streaming video.

You see a similar effect if you’re playing with any “dodge grants effect or boon” traits, where you dodge but the boon/caltrops.whatever doesn’t fire right away but in stead fires a bit after the dodge in an interesting place.

I use the caltrops trait on my thief, and I instantly know I’m lagging up when I dodge and don’t hear the tink sound of caltrops as soon as I hit the button.

In theory no. In practice with latency and stuff, yeah my dodges get interrupted all the time. Or appear to anyway.

My ping is generally 150~250 when it isn’t being completely crappy and yeah I do get hit mid dodge from time to time.

There are some weird undodgeable things in game like skritt lobbers’ bottle throw. You have to do two dodges to avoid those. The bottle will change direction midair after the first dodge.

That might be an interesting shout skill.

Edit: as for static field … hard to say with this one. It does specify that the stun is for anyone crossing the field. You can think of it this way. You can dodge someone trying to stab you but if you bang your head against a wall you’ll probably be dazed/stunned.

Yes dodges can be interrupted, which is dumb. Sometimes when dodging things I’ll hear the dodging whoosh but get hit and fall anyway

^ Maybe we can have two versions of dodge. One is for physical attacks, and the other for mental attacks. Mental attack dodges will have an animation where the character covers his ears for a while.
