Ok, since Arenanet just won’t give us build templates, this might be a good solution.

The stretchable equipment bag [SEB] is an equipment bag with the standard features of the invisible bag and the equipment bag and one more: it has a variable limit.

Here is the caveat, it will only take bound items, and only one of each armour piece, 2 accessories, 2 earrings, 1 amulet, 1 back piece and up to 4 one hand weapons or 2 two hand weapons.

See what I’m getting at yet? Best of all this bag has the feature: equip all, where it will equip all items in the bag and unequip all currently equipped items and put them in this bag.

Interesting idea. I’m in favor of anything that brings us closer to build/equipment saving.

I’m sure it sounds simple, but, technically, it’s an implementation of build templates with a different user interface.

I’m sure it sounds simple, but, technically, it’s an implementation of build templates with a different user interface.

Its also not as useful as build templates, since it wouldn’t swap your traits out.

Its a neat idea, and a neat way to address the lack of build templates in the game. But I’m sure that it would be pretty difficult to implement correctly, especially because elite specs change what weapons you are allowed to use (For example, what if I’m running core mesmer and have a shield in this bag. When I try to equip the shield via the equip all function, I can’t because base mesmer can’t equip it. Does the bag automatically swap out a traitline for chrono? If so, does it set the traits in chrono? Might as well since its automatically swapping traitlines, and at that point we might as well make a full featured build template. Or maybe it tries to equip the shield, but can’t. Could the shield disappear (can happen)? Would my current offhand weapon stay equipped? Its just a lot of technical problems they would have to test and design around).

I actually thought about the ‘mechanics’ behind it. And I may be wrong here, but wouldn’t selecting equip all basically run a ‘equip’ script as though it would if you double clicked it manually. This is why I think the idea is doable.

Its not supposed to be a build template, its a fast equip. And I totally expect some weapons to get into the wrong slots and whatever, or a both hand item getting into the wrong hand. It’d probably screw up equipping accessories and rings too <_< god i wish we only had 1 slot for accessories and rings.

If you weren’t a chrono it’d probably refuse to equip the shield, or do what it does now, keeps it inactive.

For me… I would preffer a “bound” slot option of a “shared” slot…

So you can either buy a shared slot for all characters or a bound slot for a single characters weapons/armour…

A bound slot would simply be a slot for a specific item and each player can buy just what they need, as not all players carry everything, and, personally, I really hate having to search for an off hand weapon when swapping back from a dual hand item.

Cannot see this being to hard to do… each “bound” slot has a “link” tick box and when you upgrade, or simple change to one you like the look of better, you untick/link one item and re-tick/link another (item must be in box at time of using the “tick”).
From a non programmes viewpoint this might mean only a small script/code is required to “park” an unequiped item to a specific bound box.

Players who swap stuff all the time might not like the extra few seconds taken up in linking but, I would guess, the majority of players who, simply, find a set up/weapons they like and rarely change, ie play one set up for months/longer before “fiddling” would appreciate a “bound” slot as much as I would

Sure, but isn’t a build template basically running a “select traits” script as though you had clicked the appropriate build sections of the hero panel manually?

It’s not that you are wrong, it’s that there are additional considerations about, eg, storage, network traffic, ux, gameplay, etc, that the developers have to deal with putting these on approximately the same level.

If you really want something like this, some of the restriction QoL features available with some DPS meters do support client-side-only build and gear templates similar to what you describe here. That is ToS violating, though…

While a clever idea, ill admit, i would also rather have a trait/gear template to toggle back and forth.
