Is Anet gonna put in a dual class system?
From what I understand, there were a lot of issues with balance and OP characters in Guild Wars 1, at least that’s what I’ve heard from people who’ve played the original. As for whether or not it will be in this game, I don’t doubt it as possibility, but I imagine they’d want to tweak it to prevent the same issues as with the first game.
I really doubt it. There are class balance issues already and I think dual professions would compound that plus I think they’re trying to avoid the never ending nerfs like in GW1.
I dont see it happening. If ANet wanted to give the classes more options, they’d just give them new weapons.
I honestly don’t want a dual profession system. What I find great about Guild Wars 2 is the diversity it has in professions. (E.g Thieves master of stealth, Mesmer master of portals clones, Guardian boons etc.) Do I personally want a guardian casting out some mesmer spells or stealthing my team? No. I feel as though it would kill the diversity and make every class one big blob. In GW1 it was nicely done but I think in GW2 it wouldn’t work. Don’t you think it would be sort of odd having a guardian throw up a portal or having a warrior stealth his party? I think every class has its own playstyle which makes a Guardian a Guardian, a Thief a Thief and a Mesmer a mesmer. Etc. (excuse any errors as this is being typed over a phone.
I can see it already:

Simple answer no.
With duel pro there is a lot more balancing and it would really have to be put in on day one!
As someone stated earlier they may add new weapon types this keeping balance but still a large project as every pro has different weapon skills so do not expect to see them soon.
It’s an option. They could always do it in an expansion or something, but it’s highly unlikely. The dual class system was after all removed for GW2 due to being impossible to balance.
Additional weapons will be added in the future. They’ve pretty much confirmed that in the betas when people asked about 2h axes, also, fishing.
What i find funny is it would balance a lot of the game, but everyone said guildwars 1 was unbalanced, i disagree, guildwars 2 is far more unbalanced to me than Guildwars 1 ever was..

you mean T/Me no one will be seen
GW had time to mature and find balance.
GW2 is less than a year old and balance is apparently less of an issue than:
Drop rates
LFG tools
Duelling
Guesting
Character renaming
Future Gear
Scavenger Hunts
Guesting Exploits
Guild renaming
Guild Vs. Guild arenas
etc.
Has anyone specifically noted FOTM is the same acronym as “Flavour of the month”, could be a sign of things to come… lol.
It may just be that your original statement was wrong.

Duel class – i doubt it.
Duel spec – possible.
GW had time to mature and find balance.
and yet one of its builds was called IMBAgon

Doesn’t is any way diminish my point, just means that it could have continued maturing.
The calls for balance early on were mainly a call for someone to step up and teach people how to use their profession and their professions counters, I still cringe at some of the “useless no synergy” calls made in the class forums as many show a complete lack of understanding, capability, and imagination.
Still not right though.

I sure hope not. Imagine all the X/Thieves running around; the game would have to be renamed Stealth Wars 2.
I sure as hell hope not. Everyone would take Thief as 2nd class to run around with a perma-stealthing Guardian.

They are afraid to add more skills go figure if we get something like that.
This is to achieve “balance” supposedly, yet D/D Eles and Thieves show that having few skills doesn’t prevent unbalances.
Hooray for stealth-Kill Shot. Or Stealth 100 Blades. People would consider BS to be weak.
I hope not, they can do better than a dual class system. A prestige class system for example would be awesome.

There is a difference between not having fixed something, and not wanting to make something potentially worse… or was there a official note somewhere stating they’d achieved balance via sparing distribution of skills?

Even though i enjoyed it in gw1 we don’t really need it in gw2. What we need is for them to add 300+ skills per class (which will never happen…) and give us 10x more traits to chose from (i don’t play nor care about path of exile but their trait system would’ve made gw2 builds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G).
I can see a dueling system but not with your hero more of a prolixly with robots or pets. There is a system like that in the game but its more like a game of chest.
