I am at a crossroads. I was looking at yet another of my characters and planning their path when I realized that Legendary Armor was coming out probably this year (?). Now with Legendary Weapons I never actually believed in building the same weapon twice so I just built the legendary version, changed stats, and moved on with my builds / life. This wasn’t an option for armor and trinkets.

However if Legendary Armor does get released on time do you think it would be wiser to wait and save up for it or to build another ascended set in the meantime and just continuously poor gold into it by swapping in and out the insignias over and over?

What would you do?

I’d save everything for legendary armor depending if it works the same as legendary weapons. I’d also find a build and stick with it instead of wasting gold to switch it.
I’d also wish I didn’t have 20 alts and no mains characters. x)

Just build multiple sets of Ascended gear, using Legendary gear for multiple stats will be extremely limited as you’ll still be burning gold replacing runes over and over.

You indirectly burn the runes if you actually swap the stats and run a different build. A condi build doesn’t need the runes a power build needs, etc.

I still hope Anet will use an upcoming patch to update legendary things to be able to unlock sigils/runes so you can swap those too. Maybe make it 6 sigils/runes per piece for a one time hefty price to unlock swapping on the fly.

When people talk about ‘burning’ gold for runes they mean having to buy new runes and apply them to the armour (which destroys the existing ones) each time you change the stats.

If you think you’re likely to want to swap builds regularly it may be cheaper in the long run to have several sets of ascended equipment.

But if you’re not in any hurry and would rather not make something and then change your mind later it might be best to wait until legendary armour is released and we know what it takes to acquire it and what the limitations are. (Note that we already know it will require successfully completing the raid.)

Power runes won’t work for your condi set, etc,etc,etc

Is the cost of runes great enough to actually offset the cost of ascended armor sets? I mean except for a few most are under 10g.

That’s true. I was thinking purely of one way oriented weapons for some reason.

After the cancellation of legendary weapons, I would hold legendary armor and the fractal backpack in suspect until they come out.

It’s worth if you want to do high level fractals or WvW.

But for me, it’s more of question of what else am I going to spend all these crafting materials on?
