Honestly theres a lot of everything used at this point. Even tier 3 cultural is pretty common to some degree, at least I see quite a bit, but still less common then Dungeon. Dungeon skins do seem to be the most common, as they are pretty easy to acquire and look quite good.

I think it just makes a lot of “high level” skins, or lack thereof, more apparent lately.

As far trying to be “unique,” I would just say either mix and match if that looks good to you, or just wear what you like and looks good on your character. Then you really don’t care what everyone else is wearing if you enjoy it. :P Personally I think dyes are really a huge factor here. If you go for some uncommon colors (in color scheme, not so much item rarity) you can look quite a lot more different/unique while wearing the same armors.

Its not cliche until you have as many people wearing full sets as there were warriors wearing black primeval armor in GW1

I’ve been wearing my (almost) full CoE armor for about 3 months now. I find this set to be pretty rare.

Be glad the “cliche” doesn’t look as bad as it’s GW1 counterpart. Warrior with black Obisidian “Trashcan” armor, tormented weapons, GWAMM and an ego reaching from the Citadel to Orr and back. :P

I probably would say cliche in terms of looks. When I first saw it, the first thought that came to my head was “Oh! It’s full of flames and stuff. Everyone and their first cousin will be all over this!” Personally, I was never a big fire-type. Eventually, I’ll get the whole set (for completionist’s sake) but I won’t be wearing the full set as much as I would like.

Stat-wise, it’s also one of the easiest Berserker sets to obtain without spending the resources to craft or buy the set right out. Are you broke but need a glass cannon set for those encounters that require you to kill something really fast? Then run CoF until your eyes explode. You’ll eventually get all the tokens needed to buy the whole set.

COF was cliche the week after release. Get with it. It’s still gonna be a great skin because of effects and what not.

If they made all armors have flashy effects COF wouldn’t be as widespread as it is now.

Alas Anets design team is lacking in the gear department. They make some gear amazing flashy, flames and other effects… then other gear of the same quality is just like….. wtf is this? Same goes for legendary weapons Twlight being a prime example of a great looking legendary….. then you have ones like the scepter for instance that just make you say…..UH what happened?

On a game largely based around looks on gear rather than stats you would think they would put some effort into making all sets on par… That way people could make cool unique sets and still get fancy effects.

I wear it because I like it, I don’t really care if others wear it or like it. My Charr wears a mix of Berserker and Knights and I use COF for the Berserker Parts, Cultural 2 for the others. I like the way it looks, if it’s ‘cliche’ then I couldn’t care less. The only person I focus on when I play is me and I don’t care about impressing anyone else. I go to the Vendos in Lions Arch and preview armors when I make a new Character, whatever looks best.. I go for that. If everyone else shares my opinion then good for them.

People need to learn to play the way they want and worry less about what other people are doing.

It was pretty much preordained that I would be wearing armor with fire shooting out of it when I named my ele Rapid Oxidation. I even painted it with red and black for the full “kitten you hipsters” look.

I don’t wear the full set though. The chest/legs look like a homeless person wearing a burlap sack with scrap metal draped around the waist.
