Is Guild Wars 2 the only
There’s Dungeons and Dragons Online, but your mileage will probably vary with it. I’m sure there’s others.
Sorry, Runescape claims the title of best MMO.
There aren’t many “B2P” mmos out there, was just never a business model that most devs used.
As far as F2P games, I would check out SWTOR, DCUO and aion, which is a good deal fun for awhile.
Secret world is the only other mmos that I can think of that is currently B2P. That is like GW2 in the sense that it had potential, but just didn’t work out.

. . . if you tell the scam-spammers to stop emailing me about my nonexistant Runescape account being suspended/banned then I promise to try it.

How do you know that your account from the future hasn’t been compromised and now they have to send back emails to warn you?
The Secret World is a buy to play mmo. That is the only other one that I can think of.

I like the way you think.
It is most of the other mmorpg that are F2p or you could call B2P went that way because they where bad mmorpg to start with and lost all there players who where willing to pay for the game. GW2 is the only one that started out B2P and its a great deal better then the games that started out P2P that went to F2P.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

Causality doesn’t work that way . . .
Well, it might, but it requires a blue box, a nerdy guy in a tweed jacket and bowtie, and maybe a fez.

Is Runescape buy to play or pay to play or free to play to a certain point ?

DCUO was the only other mmo I ever played until I ran across Guild Wars 2. Haven’t been back since.

The only thing TOR has going for it is the story, in every other way it’s bleh.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
I will have to agree that The Secret World is about the only thing I can think of that has the buy once and play forever system that doesn’t ostracize you for nothing buying into their cash shop. They seem to be doing ok with their cash shop and haven’t made any serious dependence on it.
The other f2p games with cash shops now like Aion and the countless ones usually put a heavy emphasis on the cash shop. Not forcing you into it, but the game feels very barren without using the items they provide. Aion does seem to mostly do costumes though and the mini pets with bag space and emotes from what I recall. Some of the other Eastern MMOs are usually the worse culprits of f2p.
SWTOR seems to be middle of the road, but to be honest the limitations they apply on your account is a little ridiculous to me. Especially as someone who was a paying subscriber up to that point. I can now not even access half of my quick bars. >.< Nevermind all the races, etc. I have no idea if they changed this from last year, but it just totally ruined any chance of me ever playing it again.
Quality can be hard to find when ‘free’ gets thrown into the picture. I have to agree that at least GW2’s paywall seems to help them quite a bit in keeping it so though. Same went for GW1.

Star Trek Online actually has a really nice cash shop. Not a single item in it gives you an in-game advantage. It’s all just skins. Last I heard STO was making loads of money for NcSoft as well.
STO has it’s own share of problems though, mainly a lack of any real end game for a product that’s been out for years.

Oh yeah, STO does do that I dunno why I forgot that when I have been playing it again recently. :P

Yeah, with DCUO online they are free to play but when it come’s to advancing at a certain level they made it where you would eventually have to purchase certain items and upgrades to get the full experience of the game.

Yeah they realized it was too restrictive and changed it back so you have access to your bars again. When I logged in after F2P went live and saw I only had two bars I logged out immediately. Went back a few weeks later and all the quickbars were back.
SWTOR’s failings broke my heart. I had a lot of fun playing it when it first came out and was lucky enough to find a nice group to do the Operation content with, met them by pure chance one night when they needed a replacement for one of their regulars and I became one of their regulars after that. The bad decisions made concerning that game were mind boggling. So many species in the SW setting and all we got was a bunch of different colored humanoids.
I tried DDO but my D&D days are behind me. I can’t get into it anymore, no attention span. I don’t want to have to think that much about mapping out my character’s eventual build with feats, etc. where spending points in the wrong thing could wind up causing me to have to reroll and start again. I don’t like the limited number of casts per day stuff. I grew up on that kind of system but after experiencing the mindless joy of key mashing I don’t want to go back to choosing between Magic Missile or Burning Hands.
My characters think I’m crazy.
