Is Gw2 worth coming back?
no , go play something else
Seems like community is dead lol
Don’t listen to the trolls there are a lot of people playing still. There is bit of a lull right now until the expansion comes out, still see a lot of people every day and the community is far from dead. I myself am not playing as much because The Witcher 3.
I enjoy things more at level cap but I just like having maxed out characters. Lately I’ve just been doing a lot of pvp.
Of course the game is worth coming back to. I wouldn’t listen to the trolls on these forums, the game still has a very strong population of people. I don’t really see a “wanning”, I see more people coming to GW2 on a day to day basis. It’s up to you really.. but I can tell you this. You should try to hit 80 and enjoy the 80+ content available. Perhaps try another class? :P I couldn’t get into ranger at first either, honestly. Whatever you choose, good luck and have fun!

Thanks everyone Which class is the most fun in you guys’ opinion for a newbie?
At some point in the future? Maybe.
Right now? Probably not. There isn’t much going on. Just the same things you were bored with previously so I don’t see how anything is going to change. Well maybe it turns out you really love farming in Silverwastes/Dry Top …
For pve/leveling I think ele and necro is most fun.
I CAME INTO THIS GAME TO ENJOY AND HAVE FUN /AFTER 4 MONTHS OF PLAYING . time is best spent on REAL LIFE .
No. I came back after a year, created a necro, leveled it to max, and started ascending all its gear.
I was bored shortly after hitting 80 on the necro again.
The pvp was fun but gets old really quick since there is no where near enough 5v5 maps to keep me entertained for long, and wvw is ridiculous due to its imba.
PVE? Well thats been a joke since the start.
If your looking for something to keep you entertained for a while find something else. GW2 will only keep you busy for a month or 2 at the most.

Well you can do both. But if you are going to “grind”, yeah grind RL. If someone is getting “bored” then either something if flawed with the game or that person just plays too much. Well, at some point in an mmo gaming career, most figure that out.
GW2 is… kinda casual. Most mmo’s seem to be nowadays. It’s not about holding your solid interest any longer, but just to see you keep coming back.
But the OP has not leveled to 80 yet, and all I can say to that is just to get rid of your ranger and try a different class. May not be the game that is boring to you, just that class. I understand that, it was painful for me to level a ranger here (leveled all the classes). Most fun to level was warrior and ele. There was a huge difference, at least for me. As for once you are leveled, lots of different content to try. I like Temple assaults, wvw and some world bosses (the harder ones), but other people like other things and there are plenty of other things to do.
Thanks everyone
Which class is the most fun in you guys’ opinion for a newbie?
For me, d/d stealth thief. But that is hard mode, not for everyone, takes time to be good. Then I like my kit engi, dust him off now and then, like to use him as a wall defender in wvw. The rest rot – overflow for my bank. But if I ever decide to uninstall and forget this game, my last little joy in this game will be to delete my ranger (leaving the rest) …again.

Honestly you’ll probably get bored pretty quickly if you don’t PvP/WvW with a guild. There’s not much to do aside from Fractals, Dungeons, and chest farming once you hit 80, which is easy to do. I was able to stick it out longer by leveling multiple toons at once, but then the horror of the transmutation and customization system hit, and not being able to keep my characters looking how I want them to without paying real money or grinding content turned me off.
There’s honestly just not very much to do for a three year old game.
The game is OK when it’s playable…not so much at the moment IMO. Don’t listen to tools or trolls. Make up your own mind and play it your way.
Only a customer.
Not worth.
- PvP gets boring because there is not enough death match and we have to many capture the point boring modes
- WvW depends on what server are you
- PvE is just plain boring, BoSSes didnt change at all, all are same “stupid-AI” as they were, no advanced logic implemented. Fractals once you hit 50 it gets old after to many runs.
Yes we have amazing pvp system, and that’s about it.
TL;DR: game is still casual to its finest, so if you look for quality PvE, u might look at wrong game.
PvP is fantastic. PvE is still pointless and sometimes boring. there are quite few people playing but dont expect nothing close to lets say WoW player numbers.
I think to enjoy an mmo and stick with it is pretty niche (Relative to the amount of people who play video games world wide)
Many of us wont even consider playing another game. For us, it is not a chore to play gw2… We always find time to do it and love it. If you have any resistance inside your soul then this game isnt for you! It should be,an easy thing man!
From my point of view, if you try to play this game as a single player it’s not nearly as good as playing with friends or a guild. Not just for dungeons or WvW, for everything.
It’s just more fun with people goofing off and having a good time. This is probably true of most MMOs.
What makes this one more fun for me is that there are so many places you can go to goof off and have a good time.
In most MMOs, the early zones are nothing at all. There’s no reason to ever go back to them. The creatures don’t even attack you.
Here you have jumping puzzles, you have minigames, you have all sorts of stuff. Even just doing some of the events would could lead randomly to something valuable, like the event chain that leads to the Eye of Zhaitan in Straits of Devastation. By myself it would be boring but we did it today with a couple of guildies and had a lot of fun…and no, we didn’t get the best drops.
I came back after a long break and got about three weeks of enjoyment out of it again. The problem is that HoT is on its way with no solid info on how this is going to affect traits/crafting/gear/etc so about all there is to safely do (without running the risk of investing in something that is just going to get wiped out come HoT) is to farm gold in Silverwastes (or wherever) which gets stale pretty quickly.
There really is only one answer to these “Is it worth it?” questions because value and worth vary between each person, and that answer is:
Only YOU can decide it it’s worth it. Nobody else can decide that for you.

GW2 is a mmo that you can play casually taking long breaks as needed. I play Gw2 only when one particular friend is on. I used to play GW2 in a hardcore way for about a year and a half. There is no subscription so what do you have to lose but harddrive space?
I also play H&G and Heroes of the storm. All these things can exist together. You dont have to only play one game and play it as hardcore as possible. You can in fact just let go of needing to “keeping up with the Joneses” and just play for entertainment.
Currently I play Arma3, Dayz, Gw2, HOTS and GTA V pretty regularly. Thats the beauty of Gw2. You don’t have to keep up with a gear treadmill.
No one is capable of answer that to the OP.
@ Liquified.7153, instead of asking i recommend u to get in the game and decide it for yourself.
ATM there are several restritions while leveling but they will be removed/changed.
Seems like community is dead lol
ArenaNet is going to make massive changes to how character progression and build making works. It looks like some characters will lose things we have acquired in the new system.
It’s better, then, to not play right now, and wait for the changes to be implemented first. Then not only you won’t run the risk of unlocking a lot of stuff only to see it gone when the patch hits, but also you won’t have to learn a different system all over again.
I personally love the game and am still playing after almost three years.
However, if you’ve had the game since launch but can never make yourself play for more than a week every so often, then I think you already have your answer. It’ll still always be there for you to go back to if you want to check it out again, but it’s pretty clear that you don’t enjoy the game.
If your still a level 50 ranger for the time you’ve had the game no I wouldn’t recommend coming back or buying the expansion. Game just isn’t for you.
Personally I love the game though as is
For me, it’s not. I stopped recommending this game at all. It’s a b2p mmo with f2p management model which cripples the game to the insane level.
It was great at start, all reviewers gave very good opinions, people were hyped and waited for more.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And we are still waiting.
Just play sth else. Whatever is the reason you left the game, the problem is still there, because gameplaywise nothing has changed.
Good luck in better games.
This thread is pretty negative, have you all forgot about Heart of Thorns?

HoT will be level 80 content. The OP has stated that he finds the game too boring to get past level 50.
The philosophy hasn’t changed. Mechanics may change, but the game doesn’t.
If you are desparate to find enjoyment in it, put in the time to find friends in the game. I find that who I play with does more for me than what I play, and i’ve played everything in it.
If you’re hoping the game has changed to suit your needs, forget it.
Content wise, since you have ’t played the game to death yet, there is no need to “wait for expansion content because nothing is going on now.” There is plenty for you, if you choose to explore it.
I just began playing the game, and I’m in my low 40’s. I haven’t done any dungeons, PvP, or made any friends. But I’m really enjoying it. I really like the “random events.” I played Firefall in beta, and a lot of Rift, and this feels like a more polished, meaningful version of those. I especially love the events which chain into a large boss fight, or the ones which are started by talking to a random NPC or interacting with some random object. It’s a great game for me, since I feel like I can accomplish many things in a short amount of time (work schedule’s kind of crazy.) I also love the design of the world— not just in terms of aesthetics, but how lore is reflected through the environment more than quest text. That’s something that I think many MMOs fall short of.
I know there are more people here with a lot more experience in Tyria than I have but I’d like to throw in my two cents (for whatever that’s worth). I come from a game that I played nearly exclusively for eight years. Recently, the developers and company decided that their egos mattered more than the game and player base; the world is merely a tool, the goals in that world are all too often just variations on the same thing, and everyone belongs in an instance (whether private or with a group).
By contrast, Tyria has offered a relevant world, a welcoming and helpful community and developers that (so far) seem to care a great deal about what makes a good game great. I’m sure GW2 has it’s flaws and I’m bound to discover them at some point, but as a relative newbie to Tyria, GW2 far exceeds my expectations and I’ve barely scratched the surface…
In the end, attracting someone to a game is entirely dependent on what they are looking for. I prefer the MMORPG genre while games like LOL and DOTA are TOTALLY PvP MMO’s.
There’s nothing wrong with liking one and not liking the other…but for my personal tastes, this game truly fits the bill!
I was the same as you when I started, I think. I made a staff ele because it was the closest thing I could think of to a healer (I enjoy playing healing classes in other games). I got it up to about 20-25, then quit out of boredom
over half a year passes, I decide to pick it up again, and try something new. not sure what made me do it, but I picked a ranger, and oh geez was it fun. not only because I was playing what was, to me, a much funner class.. but I also discovered WvW which was very awesome at the time.
In short, it depends on why you quit and what you enjoy. the game is still the same game. so if you disliked the design philosophy, or the skills etc. you probably won’t have fun with it. but if you were like me and just didn’t find your.. “niche” in the game yet, then I would definitely give it another try.
as for what class to play, that’s entirely up to you. I suggest reading up on the classes on the wiki, and playing the one that sounds the most fun to you personally. and if you don’t enjoy it, move on. I didn’t think I would enjoy ranger. I’ve always been magic/healing in other games. but boy am I glad I tried it.
