Q:
Is In-game Gambling Allowed?
Maybe. Otherwise whoever organised the black lion chests I just opened should be banned!
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Don’t forget the mystic forge
I don’t see why it should be, since their RNG lockboxes is the same thing.
Rock paper scissors was removed from GW1? I’m sure it was still there at the last Canthan New Year. (It’s how I normally get my lunar fortunes.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
If a guild or organization can implement their own and manager their own gambling system… I don’t know why not?
I may or may not be (wink) part of a guild that has “poker night” every Saturday night for a 3 gold buy in.
Also, 1 gold ticket buy in for weekly lottery. We normally get over 1000 tickets.
However, it all relies on the trust system. You cannot send someone gold and if you don’t get your return… Anet will NOT refund something like that. So I suggest keeping it within a Guild.
There were moa races in this game. That was certainly gambling.

RPS is only allowed in instances not in town any more.
Gambling is not allowed. Any way that a player can make RL money from the game, is not allowed. Please read your EULA.
I guess the question is are you gambling real dollars or in game gold. I had assumed in game gold. Real money gambling is 100% not allowed.

I think we talk about ingame money since my computer don’t has a slot where i can
throw in some real money so that another player gets it ^^
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
When the OP says “gambling servers” do they mean actual RL gambling sites?
If so, this has NOTHING to do with in game gambling but 3rd part advertisement spam….NO not allowed.

Link Source. RPS was in LA last New Year. No mention on GW wiki. I’ll assume your information is wrong.
I think he mean’t non-NPC games of RPS (basically a bunch of players rolling dice in an alley).

Hmm. All three distinct emotes remain in game, in town. It can still be played.
I just did it.
Multiple searches come up with nothing but this thread.
OP and poster I quoted are incorrect re RPS without confirming source.

RPS was removed from PVP, not from pve (in GW1). For the same reasons that the ability to roll dice was removed from PvP.
Because people were using it to control pvp matches, rather than actually playing the games. Match manipulation is against the rules, and that’s what was happening. The person that lost, or rolled the lower number resigned, forfeiting the match. After they were removed from pvp, it resorted to simply ‘red resign.’ It was a huge issue in hero battles.

Ah, you’re correct. RPS is still in GW. Then it must have been the /roll command that I was thinking about. In Guild Wars there were players advertising “Win Gold!” in Lion’s Arch. The spam and cheats got out of hand; I assumed the command was removed for those reasons (I can’t find dev notes about the May 2005 update.)
The gambling servers I mention here are the player-created PvP servers. I did not join one, but the players advertising such servers announced there was an initial 3 gold buy-in. So it sounds like pay gold and try to win the payout, assuming that the whole thing isn’t a scam to begin with.
