Hello there, I heard that back then before HoT was launch that players who had the core game could get a discount for buying HoT expansion.

Is this true & if so can I still get that discount or is it to late?

Those who bought the core game were refunded when it went f2p. Those who purchased hot had full access to core game then as it is now

No. Veteran player got free character slot for prepurchase. No discount on price. Now prepurchase over no character slot for buying.

No you heard wrong you could never get a discount on hot.

If you had the game before jan 25 2015 or bought from other retailer then the gw2 homepage.
You could get 1 character slot extra for each edition of 1 base 2 deluxe 2 ultimate.

Or if you bought through homepage after 25 of jan 2015 then you could get refunded base game and buy hot instead.

Both these things ended when expansion launched, so if you want it cheaper wait a year or two is my recommendation.
