Constantly failing my dodge jumping even after binding it to mouse 7+8 which I can press with 1 finger (lol)

Can i make a macro in Razer Synapse to input 2 commands with 1 button click or is that against eula?

edit: also did devs make a statement about dodge-jumping is it a feature or a bug?

Macros
Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.
You cannot program a macro to perform the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.
You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.

the rules are simple, any 1 button click should do 1 action, otherwise it’s illegal. It is legal for example to set “click” to the scroller, so you can quickly open many bags

Technically true — if you want to be scrupulously safe, don’t do it.

In practice, I can’t imagine anyone has even been warned if that’s the only macro they employ. If you do choose to violate this rule, don’t tell anyone about it here (i.e. make it easy for ANet to ignore).

What are you using? I have jump on 1 and dodge on 4 on my Naga which makes them the far bottom corner. Take into mind you shouldn’t be doing them at the same time, you have to hit jump first then dodge but in such quick succession that it’s like you do them at the same time. For me it’s a rolling motion with my thumb and it works basically every time.

It’s as safe as AFK Necro-farming, likely.

Good luck.

Oh, and it’s a feature. Josh (or one of the other Devs, but I think it was Josh) talked about it long ago.

Here is a hypothetical for you and it’s one that may need to be cleared up with a dev on whether or not it’s allowed.

Arenanet allows for macro’s on the basis of one click one action, therefore you could have a mouse button that would macro to your dodge key. Additionally you are able to set keybinds ingame, if you were to set your secondary jump key to the same mouse button, would that go against terms of service. Specifically, this scenario fulfills requirement 1 of a macro,

“This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.”

As the macro is only programmed to do one action. But it could still be argued that it’s against the ToS as one key press is doing two actions. The wording needs to be a little more clear on Arenanets side.

Dodge-jump isn’t considered one action; it’s a combo. The devs have specifically mentioned it before.

So again, if you want to be completely safe, don’t program a macro to do it.

smartarsery aside, if one key performs multiple fuctions, it’s not allowed, the only exception to this is musical instrument song macroing.

Playing with technicalities is an easy way to get yourself banhammered.

Best rule of thumb: if you have to theorycraft whether it “might” be against the rules, it probably is and just avoid it, for the sake of keeping your account in good standing

What exactly is a dodge-jump?

A silly thing where you dodge roll forward, and jump, causing you to make a rolling jump.
Apparantly, your jumping distance becomes a pixel or 2 further, but in exchange it only works 1 in 50 times, so it’s practically pointless and unreliable. some experienced speedrunners use it in SAB and jumping puzzles where you have to make pixel perfect jumps

I respectfully disagree, theorycrafting is how we determine where absolute limitations lie, we wouldn’t have meta builds or even shortcuts in SAB if people didn’t push the envelope and think what if.

Additionally when it comes to the rules of a game, especially when the results could be a banning, there can be no grey area, no well maybes, there has to be a line that is clear as day and asking these questions, theorizing in this way will help to make that line clearer.

Eh I almost never fail my dodge jumps they really are only useful in SAB though, where the extra couple of steps it takes you is crucial for certain jumps.
