In the last patch; Mug was “patched”-nerfed perse’ and do you know what, they were Rewarded for it in return; “Now heals the thief from a range of 1980 health to 2700 health” In other word,’ they were Rewarded for their bad behaviors’.

Just last week, a player posted a new video of Perma-Stealth in action and when I saw that, it all made sense; we’ve been Fooled; it was all Deceptions

Seriously ask yourself this question. has there been 1 patch which impacted this class in a non-Rewarding way?

Of course not!!

That class is still able to “ride the waves” as before and continue to be Rewarded for their Imbalance Advantage Supremacy in this game.

*Thief class is the Best, and most Wonderful Adored class in the eyes of gw2 team designers and the devs".

As the *Gold Child class, they can Never do any wrong or harm*. They are Rewarded for Everything; they do, They are given the Best of Everything, They are Perfect, They get Away With Everything they do.,They Believe the Sky is the limit,They Believe they are Superior to others.They Feel they are more Entitled to Everything. They are “lifted up” by Stealth mechanic and by the devs who *Promotes and Justifies their action .

Is thief the “Golden Child” class?

Thief gets nerfed pretty much every patch. I’m really not sure that anybody gets nerfed as often as the thief. Engineers, maybe. Gutting mug’s damage for a heal that you almost always use when you’re already at full health doesn’t sound like much of a “reward”.

You are a crazy person.

Considering they’re absolute trash in PvE I’d say no. They’re just a victim of bad design. If the thief hadn’t been designed around a broken mechanic like stealth it would have probably been a lot more fun to play and balanced overall.

They’re just poorly designed. Thief stealth was a poor attempt at the simulation of stealth-like play, and what resulted from the uninspired design was a PvP cheese class that’s pretty much bad at everything but cheesing.

So basically you don’t like coming up against players that use stealth? Neither do i but i’m not going to go and say they’re overpowered or that they’re the dev’s preferred profession, instead i accept that i could do with improving my play a hell of alot.

I think it’s pretty strange that people automatically assume the devs hate various professions and alwaya favour one. If it was the case it would have to be the worst decision a business could make.

The stealth and built in teleportation abilitys the thief has, wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, if it didn’t also have the ability to do the highest burst damage in the shortest space of time…

1v1 the thief aka assassin owns every other class…

if they put on some decent armor, 3k just like everyone else, and added some vitality, at least 17k just like everyone else. They be doing the same damage, would have the same healing (if they used their signet) and would be the same as any other class in the game.

S/P or D/P in PTV/Clerics/Knights could tank just as well as any warrior or guardian. Sitting in a smoke screen and healing themselves just as well as any tank out there.

Glass cannon thieves are only weak in PvE because they totally forsake survivability.

Pretty much agree with this, my thief rocks knight armor, and some cleric, and it still does good damage, doesn’t drop over a bloody nose. and the times i do go down, it’s usually after at a group wipe, and i’m usually one of the last ones up long after the warrior or guardian goes down.

The thief forum though is filled with QQing GC thieves, so you can’t really get a proper discussion there.

There was a couple of jokes about how the warrior was the only class to not get a single nerf since live hit until shouts were reduced to five targets… and that was part of a global nerf which hit all AoE skills in every class, haha.

Those are the only two professions I play. I’ve tried all the others and never make it past level 56 with them.

I leveled a Mesmer to 56 and simply lost interest. I never lose interest with those two professions.

Something you people seem to be ignoring is that the game is balanced around tPvP, whether you like it or not. They don’t care about PvE balance otherwise they would have had a skill split and fixed it several months ago.

If thieves were the supposed golden class then perhaps they wouldn’t be so lacklustre in tpvp. If warriors were the supposed golden class then perhaps they’d be more than a big frowny face in anything other than the hands of an extremely talented player. If guardians were the supposed class then maybe they’d have more viable builds than “stack health and stand on a point”.

The reason thief gets all these buffs that you outline in your obnoxious EPIC BOLDING XD post is because they need them.

Its true that the thief can be pretty powerful under the right circumstances. But the Golden Child award goes to the Warrior, with Guardian as runner up.

thief is the only class i remember that had a nerf canceled and changed with a minor one 1 day before the patch went live…and reverted following patch.

So seems that balance in pve and PvP is managed by 2 players…
The first like warriors, the second loves thieves.

Possibly not even aware of being biased….but the impression is that they are pushing those 2 classes.

(and i would say they whack a mole anything against those…see RTL and CONFUSION considering that now ele can t never reach a fleeing thief while before at least thief had to stealth….)

But could also be that they ONLY balance PvP…..and really ignore anything in PvE and WWW and that would explain why thief that is average in Pv kitten o strong in WWW and why warrior that doesn t shine either is beyond OP in PvE.

I think Mesmer manages to keep it’s awesome and no one’s the wiser of just how great…misdirection I suppose, although the last update to confusion/retaliation did a good deal of harm to them.

The only reason I’d be particularly jealous of Thief is because they have so many class mechanics wrapped into their gameplay. Stealth/stealth strike, flanking, initiative, steal, dual wield…Poor Elementalist seems more punished by its class mechanic, having slightly less potent skills while at the same time having them cooldown nearly twice as long for it.

However you look at it though, the grass will always look greener.

I d gladly be the worst in PvP with one of preofession i like just to be as OP as war in PvE and still very strong in WWW.

This is some serious PvE balance thread going on considering the responses here.
Warrior is obviously so OP in tpvp, having all that mad damage from those 30k killshots, eviscerates and unavoidable 100blades. BM ranger is the worst, no deeps, buff pets more. GW2 needs more balance around CoF.

Ontopic: Thief is pretty fine, offers too much reward when played like a kitten 2222 or 3333, but pretty balanced overall.

Usually goes like this:

• sPvP (hotjoin)&WvW roaming – “THIEF, MESMER OP”
  (people who don’t know the opposing profession and its mechanics and get killed in random ganks)

• PvE/Dungeoning – “WARRIOR (or GUARDIAN, MESMER) OP”
  (people who think damage is the only variable that defines a profession and CoF speedrun time = balance)

• WvW zerg – “add profession here OP”
  (random tanky profession rolling over a smaller squad with superior numbers and killing that person in the process is clearly the indication of profession imbalance)

• tPvP – “profession I’m worst at fighting 1v1 against or a bunker I can’t catch or kill alone OP”
  (it is true that some builds/professions are stronger than others and there exists quite a bit of imbalance in terms of effectiveness, but the overall balance is still very close and not gamebreaking)

lol this has got to be a joke thread. Thief has been nerfed in every patch since beta. Every single one. Warrior on the other hand, which was already the strongest profession in the game has been continually buffed in every patch. They are like the demi-gods of the gw universe now.

^except that in any form of pvp warriors are meh, and thieves are godmode

Sounds like he had his ice cream taken away, and is throwing a fit. People expect whines in any forum, but try to keep it to one whine per post, and don’t cut and paste it elsewhere.

Edit: Apparently, the OP plays a ranger, and can’t beat thieves. Try learning your class. I play several classes, and have run into rangers that are an absolute nightmare to fight 1v1.

This is just a case of someone who is too lazy to learn how to counter another class. I’ve had issues with certain classes, and rolled the same class to get a feel on how they play, and ended up getting them to 80 because I enjoyed the class. Needless to say, I have a lot less issues with professions that once were a lot of trouble.

So? As long as ANET are offering multiple game play forms and as long as they are trying to balance across these forms. Well it does matter regardless as to whether three people pvp or three thousand pvp.

I know exactly why. Those dungeon videos are cool, the ones of thieves soloing them is awesome given, you know, how only guardians and warriors can hope to survive and all that…

The major issues in terms of “balance” in this game come from the lack of skill set split between pve/wvw and spvp. That combined with the fact that ANET also currently don’t seem to be able to balance between build types due to the way combat is handled (which is a microcosm for why zerker gear is optimal in alot of cases).

Until they fully split up the skill sets and balance out builds, well you have to look at any notion of “balance” across the full spectrum of gameplay features as it stands and in that case warrior is far from the “golden haired child” some try to make it out to be (more often than not because they seemingly get their kittens in a twist over dungeon speed run groups).

lol there is no golden child profession. ArenaNet just has a weird way of balancing. Instead of solving a problem, they tweak the balance by very little (like adding 4 seconds reveal) and then see how players respond to that. Even though the truth is, that the majority of professions needs a redesign. Like removing stealth from weapon sets, and adding more movement effects, or boons like aegis and protection. Taking slow steps when it comes to balancing can be a good thing in the beginning, but at this point, we’ve pushed the professions as far as they go. ArenaNet needs to stop beating around the bush.

Also, consider the anti stealth traps that are coming…. Its obvious anet are trying to offer alternatives rather to the stealth problem without making one classes mechanics obsolete.

In the future, people who cry about stealth in wvw will be maimed with l2p posts about trap usage. Just warning you!
