Is blind underpowered?
Blind can be very weak and at the same time, insanely strong. If you see a crucial attack coming and blind it in time (depends on the skill you use – Lightning Surge for example is really bad at this), it is huge. If you time it bad or the blind is anticipated, it is weak.
And smoke fields plus projectiles is strong however you look at it.
Not everything is about PvP. Blind is one of the most OP skills in PvE… I can solo any single (non-boss) mob in the game using blind.
Also if you are blinding someone before you know what attack they are about to use you are doing it wrong. See giant 20k dmg attack about to go off → apply blind → win
In PvP things happen very fast and you cannot anticipate what’s the next attack of your opponent. So which option is better? Use the blind skill to make 1 attack miss or wait till your opponent uses a strong attack? But you also need to do some damage so waiting is really not a good thing to do. Players spam skills in this game to win.
You can spam the blind, or you can use it at some crucial moments. You’ll need to learn those moments and in the mean time use it when you think.
Example of nice moments to blind, a dagger/dagger thief just disappeared in front of you. Make him “miss” the backstab and he’ll be very annoyed.
blind is soooo underrated. I actually welcome thieves in dungeons coz of their ability to spam blind endlessly. I used to go dual kits of bombs and grenades because of my ability to have 3 aoe (sorta, pistol hits 3 targets) blinds on demand, with bomb having an actual duration (5 sec i think, i forgot) instead of grenades and pistol’s 1-blind-wonder. but still, it is really effective especially in taking down groups of mobs.
I play as an ele. The best damage mitigation skill that’s not invulnerability is earth attuned glyph of storms. It almost keeps constant blind on up to 5 mob. When I use it I usually don’t take any damage at all.
I like and dislike Blind. Next attack should mean all of that attack, not just 1. If something is going to hit me 5x with 1 attack then all of those should miss when Blind is up, not just 1 of the 5 as they are all part of that 1 attack.
Blind used on player or mob with rapid attacks are pretty much useless, especially with skill that apply blind once.
Well… blind field is another thing entirely.
When I’m on my Ele, being blinded is in my opinion the worst condition to have placed on me. Most of my best damage attacks are large, single hit, delayed blasts, and many Risen (especially in the Temple of Lyss) literally spam it every couple seconds. I don’t always have an instant casting ability or an atunement swap ready to get the blind off before the big attack lands.
Using blind myself, Glyph of Storms in earth is incredible in PvE, both in the open world and in dungeons. My single target single blinds are useful right before a big hit, but require much better timing. Scepter Earth 3 is also rather slow moving so it’s a bit more difficult to land than Scepter Air 3.
Mobs that do a lot of smaller hits (Bandit pistol users for instance) are much stronger against blind since as mentioned, only the first hit in their 5-7 hit skill will miss, and all the rest will hit.
You can change up your skills on the fly for a reason – Blind is awesome for certain types of enemies (big attacks) , and not so great for other types (rapid multiple attacks).
I think the biggest mistake the folks having a hard time with dungeons make is assuming that one set of skills should be used for every fight in there.
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.

I think what makes blind tricky is that people really need to watch the mob to have a chance to see what’s coming. With all the momevement and red circles on the floor. You don’t see a skill icon or casting bar either, so you really need to relearn how to spot incoming skills.
Once you can do that, blind is quite useful. When not, it’s mediocre at best.
It really depends which character I’m playing, how I feel about blinds.
On my guardian & thief, they’re extremely useful. On my ranger, they’re frustrating. Actually I hate gettin blinded on my thief, too.
Blind is fine it’s the offensive version of Aegis, works the exact same way.
it can block a completely useless attack or an incredibly strong one.
