I certainly hope not. Although it would be almost impossible to organize and manage such thing, at the end yes our message would have to be addressed.
For over two years most of the issues the community has had with the game have been ignored, or when addressed the old “we are looking into it” response then stuffed back in the bottom draw in hopes that it would be a forgotten issue.
On the flip side, content that are irrelevant and sometimes harmful to the player base is released with no prior discussion or heads up. No need to beat a dead horse by listing the many issues the game has had since release. In all honesty I believe most of the playerbase wouldnt even want a rushed fix.
All I come to ask of the dev’s is roadmap or a direction that they are taking the game. Not to be told to stop whinning or “we are looking into it”. Im to the point that im ready to stop gambling wars 2 and looking for a new game unless i see a positive future.
Thank You for your hard work, even though it is very hard to notice sometimes.

There is no reason to boycott anything. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. Simple as that. The rest of us will still be thankful we can get this good of an mmo without a sub fee.

Ignore the marketing and accept this for a static free game. If you have this mindset then you’re good. Actually buying gems with real money? – now that’s a whole ’nother issue (e.g. suspended “with no timeframe”).

Edit: poster above me can see my signature thread. Even a whiteknight can have fun there.

Please don’t judge people. Yes I care about the game, but are you really going to tell people to boycott a game that has been out for 2 years with no mandatory payments past the first 60$? That only hurts the company and makes them unable to fix these problems. They made this wonderful game and are only charging a one time fee. There are many other pay to play MMOs that aren’t nearly as good as this one.

Anyway, boycott is not the answer, if you want to post a problem, post a solution you think would be feasible. Whether they listen or not is up to them.

Here’s the problem with a boycott. NCSoft doesn’t care about concurrency. It costs them money. The more people that play, the more resources it costs. The are extremely concerned for retention. The likelihood you are ‘walking through the door’. WalMart doesn’t care if you go to Sears, they care if you go to Sears MORE than WalMart. That’s retention. To measure retention, in this game, actually costs YOU more money. Because you have to stop logging in completely. If you do that during the LS, you’ll have to pay to catch up.

So boycotting is actually expensive to do, for the player, since the best way to check retention is to count the logins during new release dates to see if interest is being maintained. If you miss, you either come back and pay some gems to get caught up or you never come back, and are replaced by new sales of ‘boxes’. (now you see the importance of the NPE!)

About suggesting a fix well there are numerous great suggestions that get buried weekly in the forums what i came to ask is a game direction or plans so me as a consumer can plan and decide if spending my time with the game will be a good time investment.

I totally get that, I used the boycott term as it is usually the last line of hope to get anything done IRL. As we have been repeatedly ignored by the devs and as they have repeatedly implemented controversial systems with every update lately.

So like he said, anyone can point out problems in any game, make a list of how to feasibly fix them. And boycotting the game would only cut away money that they could use to fix these “Problems”, so it hurts both ends.

Zerker meta requires a total overhaul of PvE enemies to change. ANet is already taking steps to this end as we can see with Scarlet’s armies and the Mordrem and with Triple Wurm. Dry Top is not a “zerker meta” area, for example.

PvP content is quite good. Yes, the basics of the game are the same as launch, but each map’s side mechanics make each fight interesting. However, saying “we want a cpature the flag mode” is easy. Actually designing it to be competitive instead of just nike warriors running around is another. Conquest, as a mode, is one where all eight professions can be viable and many, many different playstyles work well. I’m not saying it’s impossible for other game modes to work as well, but it certainly takes a lot more work than people think.

Conditions in PvE are a situation where there really isn’t a good answer. Sure, there are some things that could be done better than what we have now, but those have their own drawbacks . To truly fix this issue, once again, we need a total overhaul. Something to that degree is suitable in Alpha, not so much 2 years post-launch.

Challenging content is in the game already. Try soling dungeons if you think it’s not. Or soloing that mordrem event in Prosperity.

There is plenty of rewarding content. World bosses, dungeons, Orr events, Mad King’s Labyrinth, Edge of the Mists, etc…

Gem conversion has never been an issue until recently. Not sure why you mention it. ANet has already announced what change they will be making to the new UI to improve it.

Precursor crafting was actually never promised. What was mentioned is a possible precursor scavenger hunt. This is basically the only complaint you have where a permenant solution is feasable and there is actually a problem.

As for zergs, there already are answers. Tequatl and Triple Trouble can’t just be zerged. They require coordination. Marionette required it to an even greater degree and has been widely regarded as one of the best fights in the game’s history. You can bet ANet will be using some of the lessons learned from that event in future content. In WvW, havoc groups are a strong answer to zergs. They can’t engage a zerg directly most of the time, but a few havoc groups will earn more points than a single zerg.

Ok! 1) I did NOT suggest we boycott the game. You see IRL when we cannot get our voices heard after exhausting every possible avenue, a boycott is usually used as a last line of hope. So my post was to demonstrate that the community has tried alot, possibly every way to get a better communication from Anet with no sucess.
2) No need to post the obvious, yes gw2 is a GREAT game, but a GREAT and stagnant and flawed game. I am not bashing the game or the devs, the recent changes has the majority of the community not only here but in game, on reddit and various news outlets worried that the game has headed in a negative direction.
3) I was not judging you I value your opinions as a member of this community so ya sry if I came across as judgmental.

Pointingnout things and making them into a list is easy. Providing a solution with no errors, can’t be exploited by one person out of millions (cause then everyone starts doing it), flawless rollout, and makes every single person happy, is impossible, specifically with the last one. No matter what solution anet comes out with, someone will be unhappy, someone will hate it, and they will coke to the boards and rant about it.

Now, it isn’t wrong to point them out, its just easy to do so. But in response you should give suggestions, and really think how it could work and not be abused (that, IMO, is the hardest part in an mmo).

Let’s take condition in pve for example. Let’s say they make it everyone gets their own dots now. Well, that’s gonna be a lot of red clutter on mob, so visual problem, and problem in finding YOUR dot. And now that’s more DMG on the boss, time to either turn up its HP or give it resistances or cleanses. Then there is the event adjustment that takes place, so you have to make sure the HP does scale too high now.

Then there is the data transferring back and forth constantly for each dot, trying to keep the HP up-to-date by ticking each dot from each player, and how that can chew up bandwidth and processing power.

Then there is the coding to make sure things happen correctly, don’t bug out, don’t freeze, don’t provide endless loops. And if something is mistyped by a letter or number, you have to dig your way through said code to fix it, then come up with a fix to help any players that may have been harmed by said bug by missing loot or something.

In the end, there would be better discussions and maybe even results if when you point out a problem, suggest a solution, and even admit the problems that can arise from your solution, the community itself may come up with a near perfection problem solution.

Like the CDIs :p

IPhyton chill. Some people here are just trying to annoy you.

This forum is full of ghosts of players who left with walls-of-text on all problems, making lists of lists of lists of what bothers them, plus scrolls and tomes on scrolls of explanations and suggestions. And nothing. Ascended rings can’t even be salvaged.

Numerous things like return Halloween backpiece hardly need explanation more than convert outfits to armor, and others I’m too tired to repeat the repeats of repeats.

Chill.

This is a static game.

Don’t buy gems. Maybe, just maybe, devs will surprise you if any one of the oceans of walls-of-texts hit them in by an odd chance and get them to actually develop wanted work. No more.

And me? I maintain my list on my signature. It only grows. Find all fix-suggestions by duplications of multiples in this forum already……………. where they were years ignored.

To be fair its more of a rewards problem that snowballs into this. See you run a lvl50 frac with a pug, if you get lucky that will take about 1.5 hours. As reward? you get sometimes something decent, but 99% of the time a useless ring or nothing. now after a 1.5hr run ur left with one less inv space. Fair?

If that direction isn’t what players want it would alienate current and future players even more. So it actually worth them to keep their mouth shut and ANet have time to find out what they really want to do with this game.

Honestly… why do you feel the need to try to call out everything that anyone posts just because to you the game is sooo perfect… you are the golden example of a word with many ways of spelling…

The list is actually a mere drop in the ocean of things wrong, broke, bugged and pure annoyance to some players- sure every MMO has issues and some are more important to players than others. I personally would love to see some answers in the Mesmer threads for my part.. see we all have likes, dislikes.. but I guess some just prefer to play the ultimate fainboi no matter what.

Such lists are not subjective they are proof that issues exist within the game, many of which have been reported since Beta.. whether they affect you personally is not the OP’s or others concern, they affect some in ways they don’t affect you.. just because you don’t share the same opinion doesn’t mean the OP is wrong or the list is subjective… then again I would hazard a guess many don’t agree with some of the tosh you like to blurt out on the forums half the time either… see what I did there!

Personally I think you post a lot of the time just to get a bite from others tempted into cussing and flaming you, then when the effects wear off you hit “report post” to make it conveniently go away.

BTW – Just so’s were clear.. we are not paid to fix the game.. but we all have the god given right to speak out when things aren’t right, working or frustrating to one’s gameplay..

No it wasn’t. It’s recent. And even if, this is a great example for 3.2 seconds of dev work for their players they didn’t do. I’m sure you are ok with some meaningless silver for Infused Ascended quality rings. Might as well not have them drop all the same.

… and then there are the 1,000 other issues …

Why is it a problem that Ascended Rings can’t be slavaged? If they’re taking up inventory space, just merch them. That’s been possible since day 1 of Ascended gear.

Fair?

You’re left with a few extra silver and the same number of inventory spaces you had before. Unwanted rings have never taken up inventory space because you could always sell them to a merchant.

Fair reward for time investment? No, but salvaging the rings doesn’t make that any better.

I never said it was a fair reward, but I can guarantee that ascended rings have always had a merchant value. Thus, they are never wasted inventory slots.

There is no reason to boycott anything. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. Simple as that. The rest of us will still be thankful we can get this good of an mmo without a sub fee.

This

People who would boycott the game do like the game. They just want it to actually succeed. The current direction ANet is taking it in (or rather, the complete absence of a direction that ANet seem to be meandering back and forward in the vague area of) is upsetting a lot of players, and causing people to leave or not recommend the game.

The boycott, which wouldn’t be the approach I’d suggest, isn’t due to dislike. It’s an emergency measure to stop the game slowly dying or becoming horrible (from their perspective) before it’s too late.

I wonder just how many people actively spend real money on the gem store instead of just farming gold for said items.

I’m also curious about how suddenly providing Anet with less Resources will give the the motivation and funding needed to develop further content.

>Emergency measure: Provide developers with less income to motivate them to produce more.
If they’re just greedy, we might see a change. If they’re not and NCsoft is the greedy pne (or people are just refusing to spend in general), we might see less, or nothing.

pretty risky game.

erm ok jst a few to keep you amused.
zerk meta
pvp lack of content
condition in pve
lack of challenging content
lack of rewarding content
gem conversion
precursor crafting
zerg as the answer aka mindless and boring farming instead of fun content
that would be a great start!

That list is just that, a list.
It is also a very subjective list and not universal truth or seen as issues by everyone.

There is also a grand total of no suggestions on how to fix any of those supposed issues.

Not our job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add targeting to that list too.

Zerk meta is not 100% set. Even in PvE we can see Soldier’s and Condi teams doing their jobs on Wurm/Tequatl.
And what’s so bad about going for full damage if you have enough skill to keep yourself alive? psst pls.
PvP lack of content… last thing I remember was removing raid of the capricorn and adding a decent new map(But not into rotation)… which is crap. WHY!?!?! I want capricorn back and this new map implemented/tweaked. Would be all we need… in my opinion at least.
Condition in PvE well… It’s not even that hard to fix it in my opinion.. Maybe the code is super-wired…
challenging/rewarding content > lies
Go ahead and solo dungeons/keeps/Great Jungle Wurm/hit top pvp ranks… here’s your challenge.
And rewards? Well rewards for solo dungeons and world bosses… are decent.
Gem Conversion well it was fine? and supposedly will be fixed in next patch?
Precursor crafting… Nice but not necessary in my opinion. I’ve had some fun with rares/exotics in mystic forge… Found it better than farming it outright lol…
OK any more complaints?

Zerk meta is community mindset. PVP is getting new maps. Condi in PVE works fine. WVW/Dungeons/Fractals/Triple Wurm/PVP are challenging and rewarding. Gem conversion could be fixed by supporting the devs a bit instead of trying to go around it, even though the old conversion rate is being put back in.
Precursor crafting is not mandatory. Zerg is community mindset, joining one and complaining you’re bored isnt a game flaw, and there are a couple world bosses/WVW/PVP content that actually force you to not zerg. Nobody plays them except dedicated groups because they aren’t easy.

A lot of the the issues the community has are a matter of perspective. That being said, content at a faster rate would be very nice.

This topic is posted at the wrong time. You should make a post after the new content comes out, not right the week before new content comes out. That way you would have an actual point.

Of course it could be you don’t like living story, fair enough. But I believe there are enough people who actually do like it.

And static? It’s not even truly static. It’s just moving rather slowly. Even though there were 2 feature packs this year, with at least some major changes to the game that I personally think do address some issues.

Otherwise I think the whole China release this year took alot of their time. So I hope they have something big next, because it’s clear people are getting impatient. They did alot of changing of the core systems this year so it’s not like they didn’t do anything at all. But yeah, alot less really new stuff.

You see IRL when we cannot get our voices heard after exhausting every possible avenue, a boycott is usually used as a last line of hope. So my post was to demonstrate that the community has tried alot, possibly every way to get a better communication from Anet with no sucess.

The bolded is untrue. It’s not that we aren’t being heard; they hear us. They’ve said so. Some of the information the present back to us in the twitch streams, in youtube interviews, and in magazine interviews shows that they do hear us. They have started interacting with us here again (finally), and they do touch on specific suggestions and call outs. They hear us. There really is no doubt there.

The issue is simply either
a) they (for policy reasons) cannot necessarily disclose information
or
b) are unable build the content fast enough
to appease us. A game, like a city, is not built over night.

Many of the issues you listed, they have taken steps to address. There is content now that will kick your face in if you think you can just roll through it as a zerker. They have added courtyard to pvp as a trial (so to speak) for an annihilation mode in pvp. They have stated that they are working on / looking at other pvp modes. Gaile has dropped into the recent thread regarding conditions and stated that while she cannot give details, that is an issue they are looking at, and have been for some time. Just to give a few examples. if you take a step back and look objectively (which you really haven’t been doing because you’re displeased), you’ll see that.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

AMEN!
