Q:

As title says… Is using a cameramod allowed in pve?

note: cameramod as in first person view and the ability to zoom out further?

as seen in this youtube video: http://youtu.be/fBjHYVOCI9s?t=25s

A:

All you need to do is ask yourself the following question: Does this program do something that I would normally be unable to do in game? In your case, ask yourself: Am I normally able to play in 1st person view without zoom unlocker?

You are still modifying the game beyond what the set limitations are. It doesn’t matter if it’s PvE or WvW. So basically, using anything like that opens you up for a possible perma-ban. And because there are a lot of people who try to justify usage, I’ll rephrase my point (because it’s a very very important one): If a program allows you to play the game in a way that was not intended by Anet, that would be breaking their rules.

I don’t know what Anet’s methods are to detect usage of programs like this, but if you value your game, I wouldn’t use it.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Who will monitor it’s ‘only in PvE’ use? If it were allowed in PvE, nothing would keep someone from traveling over to WvW. So, no, it’s not allowed.

They don’t say outright whether a program is permissible or not. They simply don’t have the capability to look at the workings of the program and see if it’s fair.

Considering it can be used to an advantage in one aspect of the game, I can most certainly say that it should not be allowed.

It doesn’t matter if it’s only in WvW and won’t matter in PvE. Fact is, it’s operating in the GW2 game

gw2camhack allows to view AND target over/through walls (and is illegal), im talking about the zoom unlocker (which only allows a (slightly) bigger view and first person view(which i want it for), which cannot really be abused in wvw

EDIT: zoom unlocker only effects zoom levels and you can only target objects in your original view

EDIT2: and what about one that only allows first person view?

it would be nice to have an official response on this. As a big Norn, camera is usually a problem and nothings beats the zoom off on the dragon events. I wish I have that zoom-out on demand.

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

I believe Gaile responded to this question in the past, but that post has since been buried by the forums.

The ability to zoom out farther than normal has been specifically stated by a dev to be considered an unfair advantage over normal play and therefore disallowed. If you get caught, they are not going to care that it zooms out by an inch or a mile, or what game mode you have used it in.
