I’ve been playing since the first stress test, and after 2? years I still haven’t checked the crafting system.. haha

I always sold it at the BLT for the gold.
Is it actually worth it? And which profession should I train?

I like to cook.. so is it worth leveling cooking for buffs and are they noticable?
And which second profession would you perhaps recommend?

Thanks =)

Crafting is worthwhile if you’re concerned about any of the following:

Crafting legendary weapons
crafting ascended gear
achievement points

Outside those, not really. Cooking is really cheap to level and can potentially make food for you, but the food isn’t all that required unless you’re a min maxer.

Disclaimer: Under no circumstance should you take this seriously.

There are two other things. Leveling, you get a lot of xp out of crafting.
Making money. If you make the right things you can make a lot on the bltc

Armor crafting, leatherworking or armorsmith is probably the most lucrative.

The food is useful. If you are planning to make ascended gear, then you will need level 500. There are some people who manage to make a profit by crafting, but you have to be watching the market. It’s useful to fill out a crafting achievement. Other than those reasons, not so much.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Crafting imo is only worth for making account bound stuff like ascended armor, or to make a legendary. You dont make much profit from crafting stuff then selling it on tp, if you add the tp taxes you almost break even on everything.

You certainly can make money from crafting, mainly from time gated stuff. Buy enough cloth to make a damask and sell it on the TP and you get 1-2g profit a day even with the tp fees.

You also can make mawdrey components, which are needed if you ever want to make it (it eats bloodstone dust and gives random loot), or you can sell the parts for more $$$.

Afaik there is no crafting needed for legendarys, only for ascended.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Every legendary requires at least one crafting discipline to make Gifts.

All legendaries require 400 in crafting (which type of crafting depend on the gift required).
