Is it just me, or are Anet devs...
I imagine they have a lot less time to “get good” than we do.
he still played better blind then some people i saw

Considering Jon’s focus was usually on explaining what he is doing, and thousands of people were watching him, I believe he usually plays better. Under those circumstances, my gameplay would suffer as well.
Good and bad is relative. So from my perspective — Yes, its just you.
It’s hard to be “good” when trying show stuff off XD
A good example is when Street Fighter V gets shown off. Even if they have top players playing, they’ll usually normally nonsensical moves, not because they suck, but because they’re trying to show off a specific move or stage gimmick.
For some obscure reason, sitting in a room writing computer code and attending meetings doesn’t give you extra ability to play better than the people who play the game for hours every day.
It’s one of the mysteries of the universe, always fated to to be unexplained.
I think the backpedaling bothered me more than anything else.

It’s dat streamer angst puttin off their game.
A lot of anet people enjoy playing the game – but may not have the focus to become really good. This isn’t just the developers – just like in real life there are casuals, semi-hardcore and the hardcore.
I have had the pleasure of running with multiple people in anet and have certainly shown them a few neat tricks over the last year or so.
Expecting them to know everything is wrong – they want to enjoy and play the game just like you all do
Don’t people who work at ANET have access to GM commands? Why would they bother playing normally?
Designers usually shine when it comes to having a build with a tiny, obscure quirk that’s devastating because they understand the synergy between all the potential moving parts better than all but the highest tier theory-crafters.
The difference is the theory-crafters can share the results of their work. Muscle memory doesn’t propagate nearly as well .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Only when playing on their private/test servers. When live they are bound by the same mechanics as everybody else.

Well i can’t say that i wasn’t disappointed by the Po(no)I. It was nothing special really. Well..I did’t have high hopes to begin with.
I think that it was more a strategy to not show how easy the content really is. If he had killed the “boss” right away, the community wouldn’t be satisfied due to its easiness.
You should also keep in mind that the revenant was wearing celestial gear.
And Ruby didn’t seem that happy with giving us so much input on the new content despite her ‘everything is so exiting and new-attitude’.
I am really looking forward to the expansion and some real footage.
I can’t understand, why there isn’t a some real gameplay. I don’t know. Playing 30 minutes seriously giving us a lot of things to watch and talk about and well that would be it. Maybe giving some hints here and then.
But talking about a bracelet for 10 minutes, is..ludicrous.
Just my opinion….

I don’t think they would have the best devs play on the livestreams because those are meant for average players and theyre more focused on explaining new features than streaming elite gameplay
However, there are many devs who are good at the game. There’s this guy who’s always in PvP named Nightmare who is literally a nightmare if you are matched against him. I met a Dev just this morning in fractals (not on their dev account) and they were really good, so i think its just subjective.
Obviously the ones who make the game probably have more fun at designing and testing stuff out than getting super good and being meta.
Food for thought: Working on an airplane does not guarantee being able to fly one with any amount of skill. Growing vegetables does not make one a fantastic chef. Etc., etc.
well, it would explain why NPE is so messed up. ;-)

I believe NPE was built for the Asian market but failed there as well.
Which would explain why Anet didnt play that model much.
They still played better than the average GW 2 playerbase…
They’ll vary, yeah. But I have played with a few in past and they did know what they were doing (probably better than me, too ).
