I mean the gear that you buy with badges of honor.

If its not possible, can I know why?

It was apparently a measure to prevent the market from being flooded with exotic salvage, because it’s fairly trivial to farm badges and karma (which is why karma gear also can’t be salvaged). I’m hoping they change that too, but it’s a small hope.

IMO every single armor/weapon should be salvageable/sell-able.

I hope and strongly believe they will never change this. PvP rewards should never be recycleable for PvE money.

Please do the same with karma gear, heck make the gear act like rare gear when salvaged, just let me get those kitten runes off them.

I would be happy if they give you option to remove upgrade at least if you can’t salvage it… and not with cash shop item :/

Well, I hope they at consider either lowering the price of upgrade extractors or making karma/badge equipment salvageable but only produce the upgrade. People are still losing runes to these kinds of gear because it’s not clear enough that they can’t be salvaged.

Sure it’s expensive, but maybe so are the runes you’re trying to get…

For the price of that, it’s cheaper to rebuy the runes.

But at least you can dump karma gear in the forge. This also applies to “Order Armour” (like Vigil etc.) that aside from destroying, you can’t do anything with it

What we really need more than just salvaging karma or wvw gear is a method to retrieve Upgrade Components WE put into them.

I am not out to game any system, I just want my overly expensive Runes that I bought and put in the armor BACK. I want them returned. If that means, at best, we salvage the armor and gain no components other than the upgrades, fine by me.

For karma gear that comes with upgrades, if the upgrades weren’t replaced, you get nothing when salvaged.

If we can salvage dungeon gear, why not honor and karma gear? Logically, it doesn’t make sense that we can’t salve these gear types. Plus, gold is THE currency of the game. You earn gold in all game modes: sPvP, WvW, and PvE.

Why exactly? Do you actually believe pvp is somehow easier and deserves less rewards?

With karma and badge gear, salvaging should not give the usual materials. Instead, it should a small amount of dust. Something you can always use, enough to be able to salvage upgrades, but not nearly enough to make a profit out of karma and badges.

All great ideas here. I just want to get my runes out, so even if they yield nothing else after salvaging, I would be fine.

The dust series of materials (including ectoplasm and bloodstone dust) is kind of the wildcard material, always has some use and it fits anything as it’s the closes thing to solid magic you can find in the game. So you can always say those items were copies made with magic, and salvaging them won’t give materials, and isntead give dust of a lower tier. Salvage a karma item that would give a a stack of 1..5 T4 wood, get a 1…3 stack of T3 dust instead.

That’s why I think it’s the best candidate.

iirc, there were a lot of early exploits involving people turning other currencies to gold, and Anet has been real skittish about it ever since.

You can dump 4 pieces in the mystic forge and salvage what you get out of that. Yes, it is a huge waste of karma or badges, but it’s something, eh?
