Anyone in Tyria care anymore about dragons, undead, destroyers, and the uncountable of dangerous creatures menacing the peace?
I think this game have too much “festivals, Parties” contents. Lest have more Mass destroying, Catastrophe, Collateral damage and destruction contents or change the dragon Logo to a Balloon and a cake icon to suit you game.

We had all that for a year.
We fought undead from one zone to another, we killed Zaitan.
Surely when you win the battle you celebrate?
Or at least have time to elect a new official in of your main cities (as result of a murder I might add)

Oh and don’t forget about the invasion by those nefarious dredge and flame legion- that was hardly a party.
Then as disaster relief the Consortium stepped up and tried to enslave the refugees of a warzone.

A disturbed already somewhat shady Sylvari tried to remedy this- but it was only through the clever plot of a Lion Guard – that by the way is now running for election- that the refugees were freed to pursue their own goals and rebuild their lives.

Alll parties…

well i can have parties every weekend in my real life, you know what i cant have? A BIG GREAT SWORD TO KILL MONSTERS. that’s why i play video game to have a different stuff from my real life. I just my opinion, too much “festival” will become to a Festival Wars 2. (imagine a beer as logo instead a dragon)

This has been an issue for me from the start. The game has a lot of childish crap in it. Sure, lots of people love it but lots of people don’t. I dunno, different people like different things but I’m not a fan of all the party favours and contemporary items that are around. A bow that shoots rainbows and unicorns was bad enough…but the overkill on party favours makes me wonder why Orr never felt as ominous or dark as the frozen forest (GW1).

I do wonder why all my characters have to look about 17 years old. My guess is they really want to make it big in Asia or something.

It’s how Jar Jar Binks ruined Episode I basically.

As far as we know there are not dragons CURRENTLY or posing an immediate threat to Ascalon, krytan and Maguuum jungle and lower shiverpeaks.

Unless you don’t remember all these recent events have been happening AFTER the death of Zhiatan. So there are no dragons actively threatening the people.

If you want to argue somewhere they are dragons and baddies, then i would like to remind you that even in the real world they are people dying and constantly starving yet you still have the time to sit and play an MMO instead of doing what you are suppose to do to stop all those bad things.

A Pet Parade.

Jumping Puzzles sized only for Norn

Redoubling our efforts to keep all torches lit in Frostgorge.

A contest where contestants Duel with Banjos Musically

A contest where contestants Duel with Banjos as Melee weapons.

And stuff where you collect a lot of stuff, make stuff with it, and then maybe get other stuff. Not sure yet.

As you can see, we are ready and willing to take the fight to Jormag. Our tactics, our strategy will prevail!

My new character is almost done with her personal story…level 48. Getting close to handing over my hero status to Mr. Boring, I mean Trahearne.

And let’s be honest Orr was never frightening, dark or threatening…it is annoying. This game would be so much better if the world had a better atmosphere that actually breathed the story and all. There are some great places in GW2, beautiful and all, but the fact that there’s a huge dragon threatening the world with armies of undead…well I never felt it. Still don’t. So I understand why people don’t care much about the story and background here.

I get where the OP is coming from. There’s a lot of attention that the devs and content crews seem to be paying towards generating revenue through the cash shop. I feel like the business side of ANet and NC Soft think that the amount of money they generate is the reflection of how happy players are with the game, just my opinion on their view. The amount of money we shovel over though is not an indication of how much we like the game though, correllation does not imply causation.

With so much attention being paid to things like cash shop items and the living story (which you’d think would really add a lot of value with lore), it seems like they’re overlooking the importance of telling a good story, and the idea of removing access to the story shows that it’s not very important to the lore. If it was, why would ANet take important content away from the players?

Maybe, all of these living story segments are building up to something big and important in the game’s lore, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it is right now. Ultimately the measure of franchise’s success comes from the storytelling, and how compelling the story is. There’re are these dragon threats out there, there are factions of each playable race that are threats out there (inquest, sons of svanir, etc), there’s orders and a pact that can have storylines, there’s all of these important bigger things in the world, and the lack of development on them that the players see is startling.

I may be weird, but I rarely care about story in MMOs. In my 5 years in CoH I couldn’t tell you what the majority of the lore was. What I’m really wanting is a new zone, more weapons and utilities and another WvW map. These 2 week events are keeping me entertained enough for now though.

I tend to prefer game play over lore, but like I said… I’m a weirdo.

Huh? I guess I don’t see the big deal. The next update is for the year anniversary of GW2. Birthdays in GW (and a lot of other games) are a celebrated thing. Even if we are getting a celebration in DR, I’m sure the story will go on (Roxx and Braham are shown in one of the concept arts). I think we should wait and see what happens on the 6th.

So, you don’t think that Roxx and Braham will become part of a bigger story? I sure do. Many times now the people working on the story for this game have said everything in the living story is connected. What connects everyone more than the dragons?

Aetherblades and Zephyrites hint at Kralkatorrik and the Crystal Desert. Maybe some of the people that don’t see the point of these updates are missing the lore being introduced along with them? I thought the Zephyrite update was the most exciting part of the living story to date.

shatterer: a low level dragon.
Jormag: Not an active threat. They are simply a passive threat assuming you care about the story, which you seem to do because you are complaining about it.

We can assume that all the current champions are dead. Since all of them come before zhiatan except jorgma’s claw possibily. Either ways, just because bad things are happening doesn’t mean people shouldn’t celebrate the good things.

Otherwise, I fear some among us may perceive a hint, real or imagined, of hypocrisy in your statement, posted, as it is, on the forum of an MMO.

Thank you for helping me prove my case. The point being just because bad things are happening out there doesn’t mean people cannot enjoy themselves. Right now while the dragons are still alive, they don’t pose a threat to the people celebrating those festivals. My example was merely a real world comparison and it should be taken as such.

If you wanna have “fun” go out and live you life, having casual intercourse (WOOT), parties, drinking, smoke a cigar and maybe if you have a wife like me, Go to see a movie and a romantic dinner D.

But if your like me that play video games to get out of reality let me face monster in continual moments. I have never see a MMORPG whit so many childish event, party, bashing, watching, dancing, eating and i don’t know what more future events have Anet to pretend were here to have the same fun as we can have in real life.

Video games is a escape from reality, no a second change to have what you can REAL have in real life.

No more Festivals Events

Obviously, this game is not for you. There are many, many other MMO’s (reads ‘all of them’) that play exactly as you seem to want this one to be. Personally, I’m loving the change of flavor and plethora of options!

Guild Wars 1: Killed Abaddon with my bare hands and it was a real accomplishment that warranted partying afterward.

Guild Wars 2: Killed Zhaitan with a cannon by spamming #1 while eating a taco in my right hand. No joke, I really was eating a taco while fighting Zhaitan.

There was no way I could have EVER been eating a taco and been able to defeat Abaddon. I had to be attentive and send my heroes to certain places where they could safely fight without getting steamrolled.

After Zhaitan, I didn’t feel like I accomplished anything except finishing my taco. After the 1st party update, I got bored and haven’t been back to GW2 since. I’m still waiting for an eventual update that will get me interested, but no update has got me even slightly interested in coming back to play yet.

The fight with zhaitan is like that because there is no way to stand on equal footing with him.

You still can’t deny how depressing that ending was though, they built you up for this great encounter, and it was hallow.

“killed Zaitan” rofl more like spammed one attack from cannons for 10 minutes and watched a cutscene where he dies… so much for “killing”. Agree with tc, enough with this casual theme, its all we’re getting for the passed many many months

You mean after blinding Zhaitan, starving and destroying it’s ability to make more minions, we used a laser which Asura helped to develop in game to best that dragon. Sure, that’s what I experienced.|

Maybe you just want another boss fight. I don’t.

Agreed this world seems to revolve around “Lions arch latest festival” while the rest just sits there stagnant and dead pardon the pun..

How many back items can one account need!, how many achievements do people want?, how about we actually get some PvE balance and some meaningful content.

You keep using this word “meaningful” content. You mean an instant dungeon that’s challenging? Because that’s not meaningful content to me.

Maybe the existing content is meaningful to some people and just not to you.

I always take these threads to mean either another dungeon, a new fractal, or raids. Three things I could care less about.

I tend to agree with you.
Either that or a traditional expansion

If he does mean more story missions, involved DE’s, more mini dungeons that would be another story and I would be all over it.
I am sure those will come in time though.

I agree the Zhaitan battle was rather disappointing playwise – though not in terms of story/cutscenes imo – but Abbadon? That fight was interesting? Come on, don´t let your dislike of GW2 cloud your judgement. The only thing keeping it from being the stale “people hit stationary giant model on toes”-fight was the fact his face was at level due to a platform.

Well, he is talking about that the bossfight felt like anyone could do that, the last beggar from the streets of Divinity could take down the dragon for a bowl of soup.

It’s just that we were chosen to press a button.

It’s becoming the new hello kitty online, with killing your enemies with a pony bow to make money for your panda hat, because you spent your gems on plush quaggan backpacks.

ok the basic point of this post , would be …… what happened with the other dragons? weve encountered frostbrood everywhere where snow has touched down , yet theyve been silent , weve seen destroyers around….branded…..surely the elder dragons arent gonna care to sit back and watch us party? it doesnt make sense to have all this going on this long and no signs of the other elder dragons and their minions anywhere! sure we had the flame legion , dredge , aetherblades , but at most those are rogue groups / bandits , aka lesser threats. the dragons are still out there , so are their minions…..we should stop partying and start preparing for the impending attacks from the elder dragons still out there……Primordus , Jormag , Kralkatorrik , and then the mysterious elder dragon unnamed in the depths of the ocean……

We knew where Zhaitan was, presumably we don’t know exactly where the other ones are. I’m assuming people are out looking for them and when we find them we can move against them. In the mean time, we still have other issues to deal with…or do you think we should let the sky pirates get away with their plot? lol

I don’t really have much of a problem for that. In fact, I would be quite desensitized if a new earth shattering threat comes every 2 weeks. A story needs to have ups and downs— trying to have constant climaxes doesn’t really work.

In fact, the worst kind of storytelling involves constantly arriving, stronger threats. The reason this is true is because it trivializes the threats that were taken down, just like how you can never view level 5 centaurs as a threat anymore.

And thus, the world isn’t one of just constant combat. People need to celebrate every now and then, after all, otherwise they’d go insane from the stress. I suppose they could make a storyline about fallen heroes gone insane due to inability to make a living, but hey…

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
